Due to budget cuts Channel 4 will just be showing Braveheart on loop Recount?? Only at the local level, and only if there's a serious problem with the counting process. Exit poll?? No exit poll planned AFAIK
I went to go check the Braveheart scenes on Youtube to see what the comments were like, I wasn't disappointed.
Australians who want to tune into the carnage of angry Scots bashing the fuck out of each other, tune into ABC news 24 and sky news. They should be doing coverage Alternatively just wait till 6pm for the nightly news
I am excite. I don't even know why. [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Maybe it's to see the look on either the yes campaign, or the no campaigns faces after the results are cast.
The newspapers have some very nice front pages today, a lot of them have gone with colourful magazine-esque covers to mark the historic occasion.
[t]http://imgkk.com/i/go4z.jpg[/t]
Basically, 'See every page'.
I like how one of those covers is just a photoshop of one of the better ones
Let's all just hope Limmy's prediction comes true [t]http://imgkk.com/i/e0jx.png[/t]

No minimum number of voters required, no. Voter turnout is expected to be incredibly high with allegedly around 97% of eligible voters having registered. And simple majority wins it; a single vote more for one side than the other will secure it. Voting polls are open now by the way, it's begun!
One thing you don't mention, is there any minimum turnout (not that they would fail to meet it) or required % of votes one way or another?
Didn't mention cos no [editline]18th September 2014[/editline] Does anyone want to guess the actual number result? Whoever's closest wins the respect of their peers I'm going with Yes 47.something%, No 52.something%
I'm scottish and hoping for yes, I'm sick of looking these posh jumped up twats faffing around with my country like it's a fucking gentlemans club. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE HAHAHAHA FUCK YOU
I'm legitimately excited, even as an american, as to what's going to happen.
My biggest concerns right now are that Valve would have to change the Demomans lines, 007 would become an immigrant and kilt would become common.
TF2 is set in the late 60s/early 70s, so they still wouldn't have to change the lines. In any case, that's your biggest concern about this?
I'm scottish and hoping for yes, I'm sick of looking these posh jumped up twats faffing around with my country like it's a fucking gentlemans club. RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE RABBLE HAHAHAHA FUCK YOU
So basically you're voting for a life-changingly impactful separation of a centuries-old union on arbitrariness and dislike of posh politicians? Dear God I hope the rest of Scotland puts more thought and effort into this than you, for all of our sakes. As fun as the banter leading up to this day has been, today is the day the referendum is actually polled and this decision is deadly serious with real and lasting consequences people; if you're going to vote 'Yes' because you think it would be cool to be independent or because fuck Cameron he speaks funny and probably ate caviar for breakfast this morning then you're what's called an uneducated voter and you'd be better off not voting at all.

As for the currency union, I'm quite happy taking that risk, as almost every yes voter I have spoken to IS NOT IN THIS FOR MONEY I agree, it is a risk, and things could go awry, but with decresed military spending, more income coming directly to scotland, from scotland, instead of being poured into fixing the shitfest that is the slums around London, nuclear armaments and dodgy business deals with our allies. British government has been a joke since Thatcher started. They think it's some kind of game, a business. Income tax, and now bedroom tax? BEDROOM TAX? It doesn't end, so I hope we will end it. Also, I think you underestimate what kind of a class divide this is, I don't care what he eats, how he talks, or how much money he has. I have issues with their common decency, common sense and understanding of what it's like to live in this country. I can guarentee you if you asked pretty much any of these guys how much a loaf of bread is they would have no idea. They are a class of their own. Looking after their own. And after the censorship the BBC has been showing over this referendum, it's only bolstered my beliefs that these guys are completely dishonest. Whatever Alex Salmond's intentions are, he hasn't stepped a foot out of line over this entire ordeal. I am not a patriot, I don't love Scotland, I think of myself as a "World" person, and don't care where you live or who you support politically, but this referendum is a chance to break away from the people I have hated since we joined in with the war in Iraq.

The ones up here will have just as much slime and grease and their own personal agenda to run as Westminster.
the yes will win, tsar putin's russia will seek closer ties to scotland, turning scotland into europe's cuba, which will mark the beginning of a new soviet union and cold war 2.0! :tinfoil: :v:
I think we all know the real winner is democracy
I don't know if you're serious or not. 4 million people voting on the separation of a Union that will effect 70 million and damaging the economic structure really is democracy in action. There are going to be legal challenges whichever way this goes, with Human Rights issues on both sides.

We should have a discussion in rUK about how we might replicate that elsewhere. I'm jealous of how politically involved Scotland has become as a result of this campaign.
will the price on scottish salmon increase? because i love salmon but its already a bit expensive and i dont make enough to support costly salmon habits for my tea

It's a Union, a voluntary joining, of course we should be allowed to have our own vote on leaving it.
Are you president of their fan club or something?
Yep, it's fuckin amazing what's going on in Scotland right now.
I'm scottish and hoping for yes, I'm sick of looking these posh jumped up twats faffing around with my country like it's a fucking gentlemans club.
Why would English voters get to vote in a referendum for Scotland? The rest of the UK should have a vote on keeping them.
The opinion polls were too close to call, so I'm not making a prediction. I don't think Scotland will do very well on it's own for the first few years, then after that it'd ether become extremely successful on it's own, or fall in on itself horribly. I'm more incline to hope Scots vote No; there's less chance there country will screw up if they stay with England. If they leave, it think it'll go extremely in one direction, but it's a bit of a toss up as to how it'll go. If a yes vote does win, it'll be interesting to see how the NHS is handled, how the economy over there (and here, but to a lesser extent) goes, stuff like that. Depressingly, the vast majority of Labour and Left-Wing votes in the UK come from Scotland, so if they leave the UK, say hello to a possible permanent Conservative government.
The rest of the UK should have a vote on keeping them.
Why do you get a vote? You're not scottish, if it was vice versa and scotland was the one holding the cards in the uk and england wanted to become independent you would not want irish, welsh or scottish leaning in on your vote.
