Facepunch: We.....disagree. In all seriousness though, why do politicians try to pass judgments on things they don't understand?
Interesting to see that Facepunch would drop their entire support for a candidate instantly as a knee-jerk reaction because of fucking national priority number #1: 'his/her stance on video games.' FYI, he's not saying to censor video games, what he's saying has always been in line with his stringent anti-corporate stance. But god forbid he attacks video game corporations.
this just in: people on a video game forum react negatively when someone disses video games and video game companies as a whole more at 11
I was molested by Half-Life 2. Now i dig through moddb.com, finding whatever mods i can and keep trying to find Valve news on a daily basis. I need help cleaning up my habits.
Okay Ralph. Sure thing Ralph. Time for your daily meds, Ralph.
He wrecked it.
Playing 'the devil's avocado' here, but I think this is being taken out of context. I think he means that parents are letting their children play and watch content that they really shouldn't be, and that that is 'molesting' their child. Censuring isn't the answer, but rather making it clear to parents that they shouldn't allow children to play and watch content that has been rated mature is.
man third parties could just solve everything
Facepunch '14, that would be a damn good political party.
Oh fuck off Nader. First you attack innocent compct cars, now video games? Get out of politics entirely.
I think he means that parents are letting their children play and watch content that they really shouldn't be, and that that is 'molesting' their child. Anyone who buys a violent game then turns around and goes "I didn't know it was violent OMG" is a fucking moron. It's laid out clear as day in the ESRB rating what's in the game, and violent games tend to advertise the player doing violent things because that's what the game does. Nobody with a working brain would look at GTA IV and think "Yeah, this is a happyfuntime zero-violence child's adventure!".

Why can't some people choose their words more wisely? Makes me sad.
hahaha what the hell is this guy talking about this is as ignorant as you get
Addiction? check Violence? definitely check Children using nasty and ugly words to describe how they feel inside the game? also check Not sure about the electric child molesting part though.
that's ignoring the fact that m-rated video games are marketed directly to children.
It's still the parent's responsibility. Nothing stops a parent from looking at the ruthlessly marketed Call of Duty or whatever and telling their child, "no this is too violent."
It's still the parent's responsibility. Nothing stops a parent from looking at the ruthlessly marketed Call of Duty or whatever and telling their excited child, "no this is too violent."
so what if actual automobiles were advertised to children as well? or how about pornography? sure, it's part of the parent's responsibilities, but that doesn't mean that you can't be pissed off at corporations who market this shit.
"Steam molests my wallet" joke Also, what a fucking asshole for comparing video games to child molestation.
Haha holy shit
I remember seeing a username of tf2 called "Ralph Nader the Anal Invader"
that's ignoring the fact that m-rated video games are marketed directly to children.
How? I have never seen an ad for a M game that was directed towards kids.
Gettin' real tired of people scapegoating an art form for problems that clearly lie elsewhere.
Had to.
Let's see how he likes misrepresentation.
While he's trying his hand at sensationalism, he should call xbox's "9/11 machines" and ps3's "holocaust devices"
so what if actual automobiles were advertised to children as well? or how about pornography? sure, it's part of the parent's responsibilities, but that doesn't mean that you can't be pissed off at corporations who market this shit.
Are video games actually marketed towards children though? It doesn't seem that way to me but then again I don't pay attention to adverts. Please explain.

I'm currently in stage 5 recovery from Garry's mod
Because movies and comics haven't encountered the same dumb complaints in the past right? People are just picking on video games because it's the newest thing plain and simple.
Reminds me of this http://web.archive.org/web/20080511154920/http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/comment/columnists/janice_turner/article3211999.ece
Once, such kids would be the playground outcasts, but no longer. Mine are. Because, unlike the TV-hating parents, I refuse to buy them portable gaming consoles, Xboxes, GameCubes, PS2s. These are Satan's Sudoku, crack cocaine of the brain. Even the crappiest cartoon or lamest soap teaches a child about character, plot, drama, humour, life. Playing videogames, children are mentally imprisoned, wired into their evil creators' brains. And they play them - beepety-beep - on journeys, over family meals, any minute in which they find themselves unamused. And their parents never seem to say, hey, this is the bit where you pick up a book. Or game over, kids: get an inner life.

man third parties could just solve everything
I know who wouldn't want to live in a world with only windmills and solar panels supplying our energy and everything that's not nice is banned? It's almost as amazing as the libertarians Randian utopia BOY I SURE AM ANGRY AT MY TWO PARTY POLITICAL SYSTEM UGH
beepety beep
How? I have never seen an ad for a M game that was directed towards kids.
Dead Space 2. And the game that was Overstrike and is now Fuse, EA had it changed because their focus group of 12 year olds didn't like it. I'm not even kidding on this one.
I want gabe newell to molest me
