Notice the address
As far as I know, the CDC is a bunch of hardball badasses when it comes to making sure we don't all die from foreign disease.
All it takes is one person to get it, and for it to not show symptoms for 21 days like it can do. You know how many people you can infect in 3 weeks without even knowing you're doing it? And fluids is anything from your shit, blood, spit and snot. However "unlikely" it is to catch it from someone sneezing, doesn't mean you can't. These people have built an exterior special building for these types of cases, so it's best to not bank on 'unlikely'
What if the plane crashed?
It all just seems so reckless to be doing
Unless you plan on wandering in the CDC and licking people's poop I don't think you have anything to worry about.
Uhh so they sent a plane specifically to bring back someone infected with ebola. To be honest I'm a little astounded.
Overseas American citizens are always taken care of really well. The only specific example I can recall where we left Americans out to dry is The Iranian Hostage Crisis or when the occasional lone American gets arrested breaking the law in North Korea by distributing bibles. To be fair though they're pretty sensitive areas to assert our authority over than and now and I'm pretty sure the lives of a few people outweigh a potential political and military crisis with another nation.
That being said whenever a country becomes dangerous America always shows up with some Marines and a bunch of planes or boats to get them out of dodge. Happened in Libya, Mumbai, Egypt and a few others in my recent memory.
So two Americans sick with an incredibly dangerous disease seems about right to fly them home for treatment.

Gentlemen, women. Its been a privilege posting with you.
:suicide:
Unless you go around licking and spitting on everyone you meet, you have literally no chance of contracting or spreading ebola.

As I said earlier, shoot
Have you read literally any of my posts in the last 5 Ebola threads you posted in with this misinformation?
Still with all the high profile crashes I couldn't help that my first thought was what happened if the isolation plane crashed, even though rationally I know that it won't
Kinda sounds like the opening to a zombie apoco movie

It's not reckless, there are so many safety precautions in place in the US for transport, containment, and research of diseases because medical professionals here know that a disease outbreak, especially ebola, could fuck us up real bad. Do you know how hot jet fuel burns at? Even if the plane crashed over a super populated area, the fire would completely sterilize the passenger area. And it's not like doctors are kissing their patients then tongue fucking fellow doctors. I mean, come on, even in fucking Africa the doctors burn any towels used during the treatment of ebola.
We have a lot of safety precautions to prevent mass outbreaks. It's not the end of fucking WWI, we're not going to have another Spanish Flu disaster.

obviously all the first responders would rush to the scene and bathe themselves in the patient's bodily fluids and put it in squirt guns and spray everyone they come across
if it crashed, an outbreak would still be as much of a non-issue as it is if it gets here safely
muh merge
I dunno why you all are obsessed with Madagascar. I always had more problems with Greenland.
50 in 1 chance it will be my state.

Holy shit chill.
It's not even contagious during the incubation period.
It's a problem in Africa because they eat and interact with the main carriers of the disease, their hygiene standards are shit, and a lot of people outright disregard common sense safety to the disease. Unless the incubation period for the Ebola this guy has magically becomes months long, and every trained medical professional he comes in contact with is especially careless that day, this is literally a non-issue for Americans to worry about.
There are reasons why these sort of things rarely happen in western nations. Give our pathologists and medical professionals a little credit.
They eat bushmeat because they don't have a choice. They don't really have any other options due to being poor, and even though bushmeat was banned, many people still eat it and are fine. So other people don't believe that bushmeat is bad, so they eat it and get ebola.
i'll go to antarctica

who's gonna tell me i can't?
Republicans probably.
Even though it's a bit worrisome, hopefully we can shed some light on better treatment in our facilities.

As I said, as unlikely as anything can be, it's fucking stupid to even risk something as potentially dangerous as this is. Why does everyone think we have magical containment force fields or something and that it can't happen to us? It can and it will if we keep fucking around with it without a cure

Quoted: The guy that openly goes into the CDC and asks sick people to sneeze/bleed/pee on him.
Are you being this ignorant on purpose? Ebola isn't a huge issue for a first world country, it's called the CDC and it is the most serious part of our government and it never fucks around.

Sure if Ebola was airborne, since its fluids its much harder to spread in first world countries.
Don't you know how often doctors just accidentally furiously make out with their patients and then masturbate all over the cafeteria food while noone is looking? It's more common than sneezing.
Perhaps you should consider changing your primary from Brazzers Medical.
We're okay for now until a new strain comes along that is airborne
THEN you can panic
There's nothing to worry about. Unless you come in contact with this persons fluids there's no chance of getting it. There's little risk of an Ebola outbreak in the United States.
Even if there was, my understanding of Ebola is that it wouldn't be that serious if there was an outbreak in a country with a decent healthcare system and understanding. The symptoms can be treated and spreading can be avoided.

I'm sure I read recently (on a MSF or UNICEF site) that it is only contagious when it is symptomatic. So if they spread it to someone else the person wouldn't be contagious till they are aware themselves.
[editline]2nd August 2014[/editline]
Also the biggest problem with Ebola is misinformation. People need to know how it spreads and how to avoid it being spread. This is the biggest problem in Africa, a lot of people are not aware that hygiene is so important to preventing it from spreading.
hey guys remember swine flu
I do. It was a flu that the media blew so hugely out of proportions that people panicked and thought it was some world-ending disease when in fact it was just a normal flu with a funny name and a new animal host from the last one.
I drove by the CDC center on the way home from the movies (one of the smaller sections of it, you can only see the entrance)
