God is White
nope, God is everything and everyone every atheist criticism of God stems from their hatred of Christianity, they don't bother looking at the bigger picture.
You speak as if Atheism is a religious denomina- *stars and Stripes* *stops trying to reason*
Are you seriously saying what I think you're saying.
You speak as if Atheism is a religious denomina- *stars and Stripes* *stops trying to reason*
so you're going to ignore his post just because he's from america you sound like a jerk
I came in here expecting something dumb, but left with a hearty laugh.
You speak as if Atheism is a religious denomina- *stars and Stripes* *stops trying to reason*
excellent post, i'm really looking forward to reading more
I guess religion really does bring out the idiots in us all. edit: As in, the people bitching about useless bullshit, according to this thread. Dumb ratings everywhere, because people dis-agree with each other. Can't you guys just move on?
Pepper;41974565']Reminds me of this [t]http://arrestedmotion.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/dsc_2586-1.jpg[/t]
how in the fuck is that even similar
nope, God is everything and everyone every atheist criticism of God stems from their hatred of Christianity, they don't bother looking at the bigger picture.
My criticisms come from the fact that god doesn't exist. And if god does exist fuck that guy he's a dick.
My criticisms come from the fact that god doesn't exist. And if god does exist fuck that guy he's a dick.
who says God is a guy or fits whatever anthropomorphic ideas that were fed to you by Christian dogma? i'm saying that God encompasses everything and you and i are simply two of infinite perspectives God has on the universe.
who says God is a guy or fits whatever anthropomorphic ideas that were fed to you by Christian dogma?
Ok, let me redefine: If there is a god-like entity that can still actively change shit and is omnipotent/omniscient, that entity is a dick. And don't try pulling that "LOLOL EVERYONE BELIVES IN GOD THE BIG BANG WAS GOD" shit that alot of creationists try to do.
if this was an atheist billboard i bet more facepunchers would be mad.
uh no, because generally, Facepunchers know how to take a joke.
I'm a fucking moron, can someone explain the pun?
if this was an atheist billboard i bet more facepunchers would be mad.
If it was clever people would probably acknowledge it. If it was just outright vandalism I don't think anyone would care.
There is no such thing as a classy fedora

uh no, because generally, Facepunchers know how to take a joke.
Atheists can't take a joke, they are too socially awkward and euphoric and fedora and r/atheism etc
if this was an atheist billboard i bet more facepunchers would be mad.
What Atheist billboards?
Ok, let me redefine: If there is a god-like entity that can still actively change shit and is omnipotent/omniscient, that entity is a dick. Also the cosmological argument from a theistic perspective is perfectly valid.
I see a bunch of claims with no statements to back them.
What the fuck does that mean? He said I shouldn't have presumed god is an anthropomorphic entity, and I called his bullshit because that's just completely moving the goalpost. You have to have some barebones definition of what god is to be able to argue that it exists.
Also the cosmological argument from a theistic perspective is perfectly valid.
Nope.
who says God is a guy or fits whatever anthropomorphic ideas that were fed to you by Christian dogma? i'm saying that God encompasses everything and you and i are simply two of infinite perspectives God has on the universe.
Stop stop stop stop stop. Just stop. There is no point. There is nothing you can say here to sway anyone of anything, please stop and save yourself the stress.
not God?" actually, looking it up it seems most atheism advertisements are like "why believe in god? Just be good" or "there's probably no god, just go enjoy your life" kind of things, aka "you don't need to be religious to be a good person, stop wasting your time rationalizing and just lead a good life". If someone vandalized those it'd be a huge irony on the 'don't be an asshole' card, so unless they found something clever to do, yeah people would get more angry than at this little board getting a change (with a temporary banner) that doesn't attack anybody vandalism related to political or personal beliefs in any form is dumb, even if it's clever. You're not helping your own case by smearing someone else's
I've seen some blatantly hostile ones, personally. They're just as annoying as those fucking abortion billboards, because they choose the most frightening-looking babies to try and win me over. Political/religious billboards kind of piss me off anyway, I don't want to be driving around and be forced to think about shit that I either don't care about or don't believe in. Especially not when I'm concentrating on trying to find an obscure furniture outlet in St. Paul, attempting to navigate the totally clusterfucked streets and avoiding running over stuffy white people who are too good for Minneapolis. Then when I find the fucking place, it's closing because it's a "holiday" because it's owned by Canadians, and they didn't advertise that they also observe those mysterious Canadian holidays. So I'm forced to negotiate with this annoying man while Mitt fucking Romney stares down at me with his magic underpants and sinister Mormon smile. Oh, and I have towards him after getting my chair, and then see those tricky billboards that have one of those "clever" lines that make you think and I nearly run into a cab that's driving in my lane because it's driven by a guy who learned to drive in Mogadishu. All the while, Mitt Romney is still staring down at me. What I'm really trying to say is I hate Mitt Romney.
Stop stop stop stop stop. Just stop. There is no point. There is nothing you can say here to sway anyone of anything, please stop and save yourself the stress.
what exactly was the point of your post?
what exactly was the point of your post?
I think I responded to the wrong person [editline]26th August 2013[/editline] Actually no I didn't. Sounded like you were trying to change people's opinion of christianity on facepunch, which is impossible.
What the fuck does that mean? He said I shouldn't have presumed god is an anthropomorphic entity, and I called his bullshit because that's just completely moving the goalpost. You have to have some barebones definition of what god is to be able to argue that it exists.
Well, in the Christian context God is never portrayed as an anthropomorphic entity over-all. The Christ was fully a creature and God, but that doesn't mean that the trinity is some dude sitting on a throne somewhere, the Christ was the incarnation of God. As for the event in Genesis where Jacob supposedly wrestles God in a sort of literal sense, there is still more reason to believe that he in fact wrestled with an angel. Even if it was in fact with God, that really wouldn't put the doctrine of the trinity in question at all, it's a contextual event and there's none-other like it in scripture. It's not moving the goal post because frankly the goal post was there to begin with.(granted the thing about each of us being different perspectives of god is totally unsupported)
Nope.
You heard it here folks, those physicists and philosophers that profess the implications about the cosmological argument for theism don't have a clue what they're talking about.

None.
Instead of arguing over this stuff all the time, can we just follow this flowchart and be over with? It answers all the important questions in the religion vs atheism debate, quickly and easily.

Except everyone knows damn well religion arguments end up badly with everyone flaming each other and being out-right stupid about things.
YEAH DISCUSSING THINGS ON FORUMS IS BAD
Discussing atheism vs religion is stupid since you're not gonna sway anyone's opinion on it. In cases of current events, a particular article or piece of information might convince a person to the contrary of what they thought, but this debate is just stupid and worn out so bad, it's holes got holes in them.
just because a smart scientist says "yeah I believe in god" doesn't mean the evidence is really there to prove them right where did you get that idea from there is no evidence the cosmological principle is true as you put it. None.
I don't ascribe by the cosmological argument because smart people have said it's valid, I believe because I've seen its premise and have found no better response to it. The fact that some very intelligent people also ascribe by it simply helps support that belief and anyone who claims that it deserves no attention is essentially saying the same about these extremely intelligent people's conclusions. I can see where you thought I was claiming that the individuals themselves validated the cosmological argument, but I was simply showing that it's not just a sort of out-there theory. The fact that everything came from complete void has religious implications alone. Claiming that matter, space, time and energy appeared out of it through to certain observed laws of the universe doesn't really discredit the cosmological argument because it claims that the universe came to existence through certain laws within the universe and I think it's clear how that can't be the case. Naturalism simply can't come up with an answer for how everything truly came from nothing.
