"It's as easy as that."
I love how my division is always the first to test things. It makes it so that we get a lot of cool shit that the other divisions don't have. I can tell that this armor will become an Army-wide thing. It is good that the Army was able to recognize a problem and solve it, rather than becoming bogged down in admin bullcrap.

Though that was a goddamn mannequin at first
They have bullet proof vests for dogs in the military, but not women?
They have bullet proof vests for dogs in the military, but not women?
Not designed specifically for them, no. Basically, they just use male body armor and give it to women.

It is because we all receive the standardized set of equipment, with minor variations based upon what branch of the Army you are in. I am a crew chief, so I got issued nomex A2CU flight uniforms, as well as a lot of other equipment known as FREE gear, which is fire resistant and designed for varying degrees of cold. Now, female Soldiers get all of this too, but our IOTVs are all the same. They are designed for the majority of the Army, males. Now that female Soldiers have grown in numbers, this problem came to light that the standardized plate carriers that we use are not the best solution for everyone. So, this new version of the IOTV was made and tested to specifically fit female Soldiers, thus increasing their fighting effectiveness. Now, Air Warrior body armor is not as bad as the IOTV, in fact I would love a set myself, but it is only issued to pilots. I think that adapting Air Warrior plate carriers would have been better, but that is my opinion. Probably due to our contract with Point Blank, the Army decided instead to adapt the IOTV.

I didn't mind the IOTV at all when I was in. Way better than that uncomfortable piece of shit joke known as the IBA. Also a little fun fact..the soldiers in that picture are with 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) as shown by the club insignia on their ACH's. Bastogne all the way!
