Normally I'd say this is wrong but holy shit there is some stuff here that could fuck us over as consumers.
Global Jewry: One People, One World - Nov. 16th The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles Dear Amy, The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles impacts Jewish life locally, in Israel and in over 70 countries around the world. It would not be possible for us to accomplish so much internationally without the amazing work of our partner—the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC). Save the date of Sunday, November 16th for Global Jewry: One People, One World, where you'll have the incredible opportunity to hear first-hand from our JDC partners who are on the ground. Together, we'll explore our shared impact by taking an in-depth look at how we are caring for Jews in need and strengthening Jewish life in the far corners of the world. Who: The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles & JDC What: Global Jewry: One People, One World When: Sunday, November 16, 2014; 9:30 AM-2:00 PM (Continental breakfast and lunch included) Where: American Jewish University, 15600 Mulholland Drive, Los Angeles 90077 Formal invitation and program details will be released in September. Is there any evidence of customers getting their credit card/other information leaked alongside this? I don't want to read through personal information, but as a frequent purchaser of Sony products through the their store and otherwise, I was wondering if there's any incentive to cancel my CC and get a new one. It was mentioned that there was a lot of deeply personal and sensitive information from employees and associates of the company, soooooo...
It's really not that unreasonable for them to hold back a popular product for a bit to help launch a new product. You can wait a few months for the 4k version of a show you've already seen in 1080p, sheesh.
From a business point of view it makes perfect sense, from a consumer point of view it sucks quite a lot. Though that's not even the key point of interest from those emails, rather the potential implications from:
After Breaking Bad, Sony’s policy for licensing movies and other TV content to the Netflix 4K service.
Bit of a tangent, but in many ways I think we're is "lucky" that for games Steam has such a powerful market share; sure it's far from perfect, but I much prefer having imperfect Steam to a fractured system where every publisher has their own distribution platform that they try to incentivise over any other platform to the point of even holding back content. Even then EA still did it, but it seems most companies are thankfully too scared of the loss in profits. Though it's even worse for TV and Movies as it isn't just the bother of having to have yet another downloader/DRM client, but yet another $10 a month (or whatever) subscription to a service for maybe one show you want to watch. Companies act in (what they think are) their best interests, and consumers act in (what they think are) their best interests; the problem is the more companies limit access to their content (especially for what consumers see as arbitrary reasons), the more likely consumers are not to buy those products. The only difference now is, with piracy, companies blame that rather than recognizing a large portion of those people probably wouldn't have bought the content legally anyway. No, clearly piracy is not just a symptom of anti-consumer business practices.
I gotta say the people at Stormfront.Org are probably having a field day knowing one of the biggest media producers gets a ton of pro-jewish mail.
Not sure if anybody's posted this yet, but a search for "Site Blocking Confab" brings up some interesting stuff about the MPAA/Comcast/Studios looking to implement site blocking in the US: https://wikileaks.org/sony/emails/emailid/104331
What the hell? In this particular case i think they deserve to have their addresses leaked, cunts.
