Boogie2988, Gamergate supporter, receives death threats

I'm pretty sure that the folks sending these messages have no intentions of going through with them, but seriously what the fuck is wrong with people. If you don't support someones views and the only way you can silence them with death threats you absolutely fail at being a competent human being.
There are absolutely people who are pro-gamergate simply because they see it as a way to attack "social justice warriors" and women in general from behind a perceived shield of like-minded individuals.
I doubt even pro-GG people would disagree with this outright, but where the two sides disagree is to what degree this element is present in gamergate.
There are at least as many sexist assholes on the pro GG side as there are man hating assholes on the anti GG side.
But I think we can all agree that the insignificant minority should not reflect on the vast majority, yes?

A minority shouldn't represent a majority but I'd disagree that sexist assholes are a minority of the people actively participating in GG.

So you think that the majority of the people who actively participate in GG are sexist?
How do you figure?
Actually, poor choice of words on my part. While it isn't irrelevant or incorrect it is not a fault against the gamer gate movement. All movements have their fringe/insane followers.
Edit:
But I think we can all agree that the insignificant minority should not reflect on the vast majority, yes?
This basically.
i'm actually uncomfortable over the fact that people would steep to this kind of low. jesus christ.

Socks is one of the regulars on the GG streams, I haven't seen any outpouring of hate towards her from this supposed sexist majority. You had those other three female youtubers/journalists on huffingtonpostlive, they didn't appear to be aware of a sexist majority in GG.
Where exactly do you see a sexist majority?
Why would people be so scummy as to reveal someones address and info online, including Boogies?
Absolutely disgusting.
Boogie2988 is a man who has helped many with his heartwarming videos and doesn't deserve this absolutely disgusting , abhorrent treatment for supporting a movement that is trying to get rid of corruption in the video game journalism industry.
Fucking hell
Dude i just want to fucking play video games. Why is this so hard now.
I follow journalists i like, if they turn out to be dicks i hop ship and look elsewhere.
This whole thing got real stupid real fast, even doubly so when sexism start to become a main focal point.
A minority shouldn't represent a majority but I'd disagree that sexist assholes are a minority of the people actively participating in GG.
Man are you even following this movement? Are you following it on something other than a Gaming or Mass Media new site?
Here I'll give you a hint. Look up #notyourshield on twitter.
The sad thing is that we're finally past the point where the media blames school shootings and violence in general on video games and now some gamers are very publicly threatening to shoot up schools / kill someone because of video games
Hold on a tick, where is the proof of that the person who threatened Anita Sarkeesian with that school shooting is actually a gamer? I have read the threat, and there is zero mention of the author doing it to avenge videogames or whatever. Who says that this lunatic even identifies himself as a gamer at all? You cannot blame an entire crowd of people just because a lunatic who isn't even linked with that crowd sends such threats.
Also, a bunch of crafty people on the #gg side have sleuthed who is behind the earlier threats on Ms. Sarkeesian. It is apparently a Brazilian gaming journalist who is behind those threats.

Also, how do you explain GG giving $70,000 to TFYC, the project to help women succeed in gaming.

I've learnt a lot but now even more confused. Those who 'support' Gamergate want the industry to improve its standards?
If so, they do know that gaming journalism is a bit of a joke regardless, right?

its anti-GG twisting it to sexism because that's their trump card. They associate sexism with gamergate because no one in this day and age wants to be labeled as sexist. GG have been openly supporting feminist groups and same with feminist groups helping them once they know the truth. All the sexism is just misinformation, and if you even bring up the corruption in gaming media, they deflect it back to sexism every fucking time.

the people making this about sexism are the people posting images of "#GAMERGATE" superimposed over Anita Sarkeesian
they're the people going to major media outlets with stories about how everyone is harassing them because they're women, and not because they themselves harassed innocent people.
GG is no more about sexism than the anti EA thing was about homophobia.
I'd disagree that sexist assholes are a minority of the people actively participating in GG.
Can you back this up?

I'm pretty sure thats the point. Improve its standards so its not a fucking joke.

It doesn't have to be a joke. That's the point of the movement.

this is fucking stupid. It's getting to the point where it just completely devalues both sides. It's just fucking making things worse and adding problems where problems shouldn't exist.
Question: who is pro-gamergate and who is anti-gamergate? What does it mean for someone to be for/against an event?
I stopped following this whole thing after it got diverted to sexism, so I no clue about anything nor do I want to waste my time reading a book of misinformation on wikipedia
For is "All this journalism shit needs to stop"; against is "this isn't a problem/you're all fucking babies for complaining"
For is "All this journalism shit needs to stop"; against is "this isn't a problem/you're all fucking babies for complaining"
Those who disagree with GG do not necessarily deny there are problems with gaming journalism, they're just against using a movement of pure hatred that disproportionately attacks women as a means to fix gaming journalism.
this is fucking stupid. It's getting to the point where it just completely devalues both sides. It's just fucking making things worse and adding problems where problems shouldn't exist.
So we should just let this shit get worse so that there can be an even bigger clusterfuck later?
Also, how do you explain GG giving $70,000 to TFYC, the project to help women succeed in gaming.
Worth mentioning that the SJW's (anti-GG) tried to sabotage this project before /v/ (GG) saved it.

Don't do this, he'll pull the "They did it to better their image! They actually don't care about that at all!" card, ignoring the fact that it's simply counterproductive to fund a charity that does the exact opposite of what he claims to be their goal.
So we should just let this shit get worse so that there can be an even bigger clusterfuck later?
I was barely even aware there was a problem.
If you actually read gaming news and journalism you'd have known that it's been shit and corrupt for years, so you go elsewhere and stop supporting the corrupt ones. I stopped going to a lot of sites years ago and found better sources that weren't being paid off. Places that gave actually fair reviews of games and had good discussions on various topics with no biasm.
The main problem of this gamergate shit from what i gathered was corrupt gaming journalism. So we stop supporting those that are corrupt. If enough people stop buying into it and seek info elsewhere the problem is solved.
Game devs with good ideas looking for some help with money? We have dozens of crowd funding sites, raise awarness for the game and if people like it you make the game. If it doesn't get funding due to not being popular, it wouldn't have sold anyways even if it did get some massive amount of funding elsewhere (which would probably come with changing things to appease to investors more, changing the game intended)
Those who disagree with GG do not necessarily deny there are problems with gaming journalism, they're just against using a movement of pure hatred that disproportionately attacks women as a means to fix gaming journalism.
And others (Like myself) dispute them that it's not being used for disproportionate attacks against women, but those who do so are considered fringe groups and are not actually representing the goal of GG.
Those who disagree with GG do not necessarily deny there are problems with gaming journalism, they're just against using a movement of pure hatred that disproportionately attacks women as a means to fix gaming journalism.
would you mind backing up any of these jingoistic claims about GG being "a movement of pure hatred"
I mean given the amount of women and minorities involved with GG I'd think that would be bullshit, but who knows
maybe TB's first thought after waking up from his cancer surgery was "I hope we can get rid of all these damn women"
Also, how do you explain GG giving $70,000 to TFYC, the project to help women succeed in gaming.
To be fair, that's kind of like excusing Dow Chemical Company for the Bhopal Disaster because they donated money to fight cancer.
You guys remember when video games were - more or less - innocent from the mainstream? When everyone else considered gaming to be a weird/creepy niche group of people that just did their own thing? And when death threats weren't thrown around to anyone who was willing to speak their minds on the internet? Granted, that always happened, but it sure wasn't as vile as what we've been seeing over the last several months.
I miss being young, naive and able to enjoy any video game I played, even if it was complete shit. :(
