okay so I got a thing to say about GG If the message behind GG is fixing game journalism, how come the majority of people went after zoe quinn instead of the journalist who allegedly gave her game a good score? it is the JOURNALIST's responsibility to have an unbiased outlook on everything, not his girlfriend.
They're not now though. Also, I would say it has more so to do with she just prior to this was put in the limelight for the GameJam misogyny and was seen as a hero. Then this comes out and she's doing even shadier, clandestine things!
No matter how hardened you are with something like this, the threats will eventually break you. And thats why this is horrible.
okay so I got a thing to say about GG If the message behind GG is fixing game journalism, how come the majority of people went after zoe quinn instead of the journalist who allegedly gave her game a good score? it is the JOURNALIST's responsibility to have an unbiased outlook on everything, not his girlfriend.
Because it's Zoe Quinn who went out of her way to manipulate others in order to get good reviews. Not to mention the parts where she asked her friends to DDoS/Doxx websites for her, guilt-tripped her followers into donating her via patreon, etc. When a crook accepts bribery you shun them for corruption just as much as whoever pulled the bribe.

This was known as the 5guys incident. The indiference by the media to the exposed corruption/nepotism led to the coining of the term gamergate. And if we're being pedantic here, gamergate has always been about corruption any harassment ZQ may have gotten related to #gg is residual due to the changing of focus from 5guys to gamergate.
I have a question: If you support Social Justice why haven't you condemned Zoe's treatment of Eron yet?
I have never once supported her behavior. Just because I've never talked about her negatively doesn't mean I support her. I know she's a scumbag, he's just never been relevant in any discussion I've had about Gamergate in the last few months, so I don't bring her up.. My BIGGEST problem with gamergate is that I haven't seen a good reason to be pro gamergate. As much as I'd love to support a movement that wants better gaming journalism, I can't bring myself to do that when a bunch of gamergate dudes send death/rape threats on twitter, creating an imaginary sockpuppet anime girl character to deflect criticsm because "hey look this fictional character doesnt care about feminism so you're wrong!!!," threaten to blow up schools, make stupid harassment memes, etc, you know the deal. BEFORE YOU SAY IT, I also can't bring myself to be anti-GG because I see the moron journalists saying stuff like "gamers are HUGE NERDS!!! check out my buzzfeed list," and dumb tumblr morons. So, this is the stance I take: Pro-good journalism. No burning people at the stake, none of that trying to get rid of gamers bullshit, and no harassment.
vivian james or whatever wasn't even made for gamergate you god damn turbotard
how dare people come up with a female character when the feminist charity they support asks them to come up with a female character more like #gamerHATE
The actions of a few bad apples don't represent a whole movement.
literally all muslims are isis after all, gamers are isis as well

We cannot stop assholes from being assholes, its not within our power or ability to do so. All we can do is tell them stop and report their posts and declare that their actions don't represent us. Just because someone takes up the banner GamerGate as a shield to harrass doesn't make them part of GamerGate and by the same token taking up the banner of Social justice doesn't shield you to harrass either. Its the same damn thing. That's why whenever you get into debates based on facts between AGG and GG, GamerGate will always come out on top because we have denounced harrasement, we've done so on every corner. Every bit of official information states to be polite, not to harrass and be nice. Every damn official piece of information provided by GamerGate says its against harrasement, full stop. There's also the fact that we don't even know if this bomb threat and other threats are actually part of the assholes miss using GamerGate or if these are attack of opportunities by people who've always had this grudge and can now get the spotlight.
honestly, ive never seen milkandcookies NOT shitpost probably the reason he's the only person on my ignore list

The character wasn't made for gamergate. You're so misinformed it's not even funny.
So, this is the stance I take: Pro-good journalism. No burning people at the stake, none of that trying to get rid of gamers bullshit, and no harassment.
So, basically, you're Pro-GamerGate then? Since that's what the core of GG is about.
So, basically, you're Pro-GamerGate then? Since that's what the core of GG is about.
I just realized. This is word for word how discussions on feminism go. Just replace the relevant keywords and you get someone complaining about how they like feminism but can't relate to the extreme feminists, so they call themself "equalist" or "humanist" or something. Food for thought.
Why is the threat of the cattle could have done what I do not understand this airspeed so easy to die Do not do anything so long why the state should keep a treaty and the shell of such bigotry

What's ironic about that? That fact that there's been a million and one thousand-page arguments about people claiming not to be feminists, so as to distance themselves from the retards; arguments which I'm sure you've had large part in.

That's not what GG is at all. Also tons of movements have had mascots to rally with, why the fuck is it such a big deal.
I just realized. This is word for word how discussions on feminism go. Just replace the relevant keywords and you get someone complaining about how they like feminism but can't relate to the extreme feminists, so they call themself "equalist" or "humanist" or something. Food for thought.
Well, since feminism is about gender inclusion and equality, amongst other things, calling it equalist or humanist makes more sense than calling it after something that is named after just one gender.
egalitarian would be the word but feminism is about both and has been established for much longer, has a much better/well known name, and its easier to inform everyone that feminism means that than make a new movement entirely
Egalitarianism is the base concept of all modern rights movements, equality. All others build off that. Feminism is egalitarian, but with a focus on the issues gender and sexual minorities. Similarly the Civil Rights Movement was egalitarian, but with a focus on the issues of racial and ethnic minorities. Egalitarianism is a school of thought, not a movement. Egalitarianism places no focus on any one particular group or class of people or realm of inequality. Political, Economical, Social, whatever. Also, Merriam-Webster lists the first known usage of the term "Egalitarianism" as 1905, and for "Feminism" as 1895. So their ages are markedly close, enough that I'd argue they're effectively the same.
the feminist movement is much larger and more pronounced, and has credit for getting a lot done, hence why it can't really be changed that easily
Not arguing about changing it or anything of that nature. That wasn't my point.
also theres not to my knowledge any large egalitarianism groups from the period the term was invented, and none today that even come close to the size of the general feminist movement
Because, again, Egalitarianism itself is just a school of thought. Its a concept, not a movement. And there aren't many groups organized around Egalitarianism itself because most do have a specific goal when coming in to existence. Resolving issues for gender and sexual minorities, resolving issues for racial and ethnics minorities, resolving issues of economic/class inequality.
As much as I'd love to support a movement that wants better gaming journalism, I can't bring myself to do that when a bunch of gamergate dudes send death/rape threats on twitter, [...] threaten to blow up schools, make stupid harassment memes, etc, you know the deal.
To be honest, I wouldn't trust a single word of what Anita Sarkeesian, Brianna Wu, etc... would say on that subject unless there are irrefutable facts of harassement or legitimate threats, because it's pretty easy for everyone with half a brain to create socketpuppet accounts to target yourself on the Internet. And well, these kind of women (especially Brianna Wu) aren't really worthy of trust in the first place (mostly because of their behaviors) so you get the picture
