So pretty much all the bad stuff about the console at this point has been removed, but on the other hand that pretty much just leaves us with a suped-up 360 with rumble in the triggers and no compatibility with the current stuff. I'm not exactly seeing the generational leap here, guys...
Seems microsoft can never do any right in the front of facepunches eyes.
Yea, these posts are pretty contradictory.
You say Sony is just a heartless corporation like Microsoft, yet you have to point out that people are being too hard on Microsoft???
No, at first Microsoft was trying to shove unnecessary crap into their console, saying consumers didn't know better. They said it'd be the future of gaming, especially after removing the DRM crap.
They didn't listen to anyone technically, they just realized if they didn't try atleast to get their shit together, that no one would buy it.
Yeah, both Sony and Microsoft are fucking companies. We get it. Except Sony actually listened to what people didn't like about the Xbox One (not that difficult, I know), but they've been planning to make the PS4 developer friendly ever since they released the PS3.
You just told me no then repeated everything I've ever said about PS4/Xbone but with a really upset tone. Except the bit about Microsoft not listening then defining exactly how they listened. I liked that.

It's mostly hardware on both sides. TV stuff is neat, I suppose.

Yeah, sorry that I don't keep track of every post in existence you have made. I like that you can't even come up with a legit reply though, going for the classic zing post attempt then brush it off.

reading comprehension seems to be a weak skill of yours because he never said that in that post.

I shared news then chatted about it with some internet strangers. I don't owe you a summary of everything I've said in this thread just because you want to get upset about the Xbox One. If you'd like to have a polite conversation, I'm all for it. But if you're going to be rude I'm only going to make fun of you.
I'm getting an Xbox One because none of the PS4 games appeal to me.
I don't know why this is funny. Knack is absolute trash, and I generally prefer Forza to GT as my racing game (Though DriveClub looks cool). Same with Halo to Killzone. Plus after the new DR3 trailer it looks like it'll be fine, AND Killer Instinct was a blast to play.

He's not even trying to put the game down, Knack looks like Ganondorf made of garbage.

No I mean it was bad. Wasn't fun to play, and the framerate slowed to an absolute crawl like 4 times in 10 minutes.

is to say people hate microsoft no matter what they do. it's basic reading comprehension. they're saying we should cut them some slack. yet, they also say in defense that Sony is a corporation with no feelings so why cut microsoft some slack?

I don't think anybody said Sony was heartless. I think the point was that both of them are not heartless.
i guess... but it just seems like they only care about how many units they sell. valve change and update because they want to make the game better for the consumer
You've bought into a PR campaign. These are private corporations, and regardless of what image they purport to the public they are fundamentally in it to make money. Don't forget that Valve pioneered some of the most restrictive DRM out there because it lets them better control and sell their products.
Ultimately a publisher is going to do whatever makes them the most money. In Microsoft's case it's listening to the consumers and revising their product. Capitalism is not a humanitarian venture.
a great marketing strategy they have going
Why is everyone saying the damage has already been done when the consoles haven't even released yet? First off everyone complained and wanted change, but now that Microsoft has changed everyone ignores it. They've always said that their policies are subject to change. I'm sure if Sony changes anything bout their console for the good of their consumer, you'd all be riding their dicks.
This so fucking much. Why are people hating on Microsoft so damn much. Yeah, they fucked up huge in the start and everyone wanted them to change, but now when they change for the better, so do some of you guys still hate them... Just what the fuck are you thinking. And to those who are complaing about the pricetag, then just buy it a few months after launch like I do, you dont have to get it at launch.
More competiton, the PS4 better make online free again and improve PSN immensely if they want to compete.
PSN and PS+ are already fantastic and a great deal. IMO the only they're missing is party chat which they've said they're adding.
Sony doesn't need to do anything to compete. I'm not saying Microsoft isn't being competitive or anything, since I do like how they're being humble enough to fix their (humungous) fuckups, but all they've done really is match what Sony has been doing all along, and Sony has garnered quite a bit of customer loyalty for that.
Hey look, someone shared ZachPL's opinion on the Original take on the XB1
I'm not part of an anti-xbox circlejerk here but I really don't see why someone would choose to get an Xbox over a PS4.
I have a PS4 preordered
I don't understand why people are up in arms about Microsoft "backpedaling" in this console war.
I mean, fuck, nobody has wasted money on and hated the Xbox One, so all of these changes don't affect anyone. "The damage is done" ahahaha what the fuck? What damage? The fact that Microsoft invested resources in removing all this dumb bullshit should prove that they care at least a little bit. In fact, all of this competition with Sony and Microsoft is good, because you know what? It benefits YOU.
You know, one could argue that Microsoft is doing more than Sony, considering that they've attempted to get their act together, whilst Sony's advertising campaign is literally "we're not changing anything at all because the anti-microsoft circlejerk overshadows anything negative about the PS4."
I wonder how many games are going to have to be redesigned now and how it will affect the launch lineup

nice job putting words in his mouth though.
the whole point of that post was to state that criticism of microsoft is misdirected, especially considering when this story is a pretty good thing. hell, the whole kinect shit was one of the biggest criticisms with the xbone and you still have people that standing by the "i'm not buying the xbox one because of the shitty marketing from 4 months ago" idea.
I don't get why microsoft listening to change is such a taboo thing.
I'll probably end up buying both consoles just like the last generation.
I wonder how many games are going to have to be redesigned now and how it will affect the launch lineup
As far as we know the Kinect will still be bundled with the console, but we can turn it off when not in use.
Tbh, anyone who's not a bullshit marketing director or executive with their head completely buried in their own ass would have seen these mistakes from the start. It's fine that they're reversing or trying to reverse (or trying to appear to reverse) these decisions, but really, it says a lot about them that they even tried to get away with so many disconnected and delusional decisions about what their consumers actually want from a gaming device. Microsoft has been going down the tubes for a while now, they only don't seem to realize it since they're still pulling profits in the short term, but the company is bleeding out reputation and respect faster than they seem to realize or care.
I'll probably end up buying both consoles just like the last generation.
That's what I did, too. It's not that big of a deal considering that this generation will probably last a decade, so I'll have plenty of time to scrounge up money for both of them. Besides, last generation all of the consoles had at least a handful of games that were worth buying and playing.

They should just hire forum posters to do all their marketing, PR, R&D, testing, and all that other shit. They're much more qualified than professionals, judging by the quality posts I've seen on here, /v/, and reddit.
Almost would've been more likely to buy a Xbone if they hadn't changed everything just because of complaints.
Almost.
All of this flip-flopping and bullshit marketing has sealed the deal for me..
I'm sticking with my computer and refusing to buy any next-gen console.
sucks to be you
Pretty dumb how they're still making you pay for it
They've probably produced a lot though and have to ship them but still
Well this puts in on my radar, now. Will probably get a PS4 at the start of the gen and a XONE down the road.
I love how people are saying it's too late when it's not even out yet.
And at the same time, people said the PS3 was a failure for at least a couple of years of being released.
For all we know, Xbox One could be the best deal with the most exclusives several years from now.
Everyone I know wants an Xbox One from the start because they think its much better and faster than the PS4.
