I lived next to a church for years, that kind of thing isn't that disrupting honestly. Just the couple overreacting.
Wow! Evil fascist theists, ringing their bells! How dare they!
Same thing happened near here, with the difference being that the man who complained was the owner of a fairly large chain of restaurants... He bought the fucking church property and sold off the bells as scrap :v:
I'm from somerset......shit
I live 100m from a church and I think they chime every 30 mins, you get used to it after a while (don't even hear it sometimes). What really pisses me off is the ice cream truck. That melody has been haunting me since I was young.
I like a KM from the local clock tower. Every hour, even at night, I can hear it through my windows. I can't imagine what it would be like to live right next to it.
What kind of shit programmers do they have?
For them it's magic... :v:
I lived next to a church for years, that kind of thing isn't that disrupting honestly. Just the couple overreacting.
Did the bells ring every 15 minutes 24 hours a day? I have not come across a church where this happens apart from in this case..
"So that's why the real estate people wouldn't let us see the house for longer than 15 minutes..."
Goddam minoritys want people to not have nice things.
When was it ever mentioned they were minorities? That's just being offensive right there. Fuck off and die.
It's quite cheeky to move into a new area and then complain about things that have been happening for awhile. There was a story like this in the US recently, a new couple moved into a neighbourhood and complained about a local coffee shop because of the smell.
When was it ever mentioned they were minorities? That's just being offensive right there. Fuck off and die.
This guy was also rating the anti-fascist posts in another thread dumb. Might as well just perma this guy now.
If you don't like church bells then move away. I can hear my local abby ring it's bells. It's not a big deal and i would rather they kept ringing. Goddam minoritys want people to not have nice things.
yo you're so transparent that i can see your tiny genetalia
If its software related go down to the store and pick up a power switch with at timer! (turn it off at night, turn it on during the day)
I'd rather see that bells wouldn't be ringing every 15 min during a day. Once an our can be annoying already.
Wow! Evil fascist theists, ringing their bells! How dare they!
I wonder how you'd feel if a building near you decided to blare a five second clip of a sludge metal riff every fifteen minutes. [editline]5th May 2012[/editline] Actually, that sounds like a good idea. Anybody know of an unoccupied church? I already know somebody I can get a Bongzilla record from.
whomever is in charge of bell operation is retarded. have it ring once an hour and not at night, how hard is this.
A flock of pigeons trained to fly into the bells head first in order for it to drop food from the top. "Switching it off" just meant not refilling it. Seriously, is it so fucking hard to just program it so it goes off only once an hour? Even just twice an hour would be good. And would it really be so fucking hard to add if (time > 23 || time < 7) { dontFuckingChime() }
Shouldn't it be && instead of || ?
Shouldn't it be && instead of || ?
Does it matter? AND means after 23 and before 7, OR means after 23 or before 7. So I don't see if there is a difference.

The closest church to me is a 10 minute walk away and every weekend I got woke up by the fucking bells every time ther was morning Mass.
It's quite cheeky to move into a new area and then complain about things that have been happening for awhile.
Just to note:
The chimes had been temporarily switched off for a refurbishment when the couple bought their house in October. The sound was switched on again in November.
This would suggest that the couple had no idea that the bells were a regular thing when they bought their house, with the bells being introduced just as they'd started to settle in. Apparently no-one had thought to mention them, whether out of forgetfulness, or simply trying to sell the house. If the couple moved in at a time when the bells were still chiming, then it'd be a daft move to complain about it. :v:
Even if they can't afford to get their software rewritten, any computer that's worth two shits nowadays can be scheduled to go into hibernation until a certain time. They don't even have to touch the damn thing and their software will continue when the computer wakes, assuming it's not running on its own time for whatever reason (bad software design).
Well, curches here in germany also ring their bell every 15 minutes to indicate the time, but they stop ringing the bell at 8 pm, and start at 6 am again. This is reasonable, and also it's not loud. I can fully understand the ringing at night, and if they're too stupid to properly program it to only ring at daytime, it's their own fault and it should be turned off. Threatning somebody over this is utter bullshit and should be persecuted legally.
Church bells should be banned outright. I'm sorry but, they were only convenient when people actually all believed in the same religion and didn't have a watch/clock to follow the time. We don't live in the 1300's any more, it's no longer actually needed at all, we don't need to be reminded "church time". Just because it's a church doesn't mean I have to instantly have this unconditional and unrealistically respect for it.
