And where are they getting the money to do this?
They burst into your house and smash up your piggy bank collection.
that looks scarily unsafe
Not to mention you're going to lose ALOT of tennis balls playing up there.
Dubai will be cited for decades in urban development and planning textbooks, along with Pruitt-Igoe as what happens when you fail to follow the laws of city development. For example, you play Sim City it takes forever to get Skyscrapers. Why? Because you need DEMAND for them to be there in the first place. There's no demand in Dubai, it will no doubtfully become the world's largest ghost town.
I called this shit happening before they even built the damn place. I give it 20 years before it becomes a giant sand pit again. Dubai is like a Cadbury Creme Egg. Except underneath that big shiny wrapper there's only crusted sand with a filling of moist dog shit.
Nice analogy.
Thank you. It's funny though because back when somebody made a news thread when they planned on making the city I got criticized for predicting that it would all buckle under itself. :saddowns:
Yes it is. http://www.independent.co.uk/opinion/commentators/johann-hari/the-dark-side-of-dubai-1664368.html Deal with it.
I read that whole thing, it sounds like hell. Don't expect anyone else on this forum to though (It's too much work!)
I think Dubai is like an oasis. It is an illusion, not real. You think you have seen water in the distance, but you get close and you only get a mouthful of sand.
