Large Hadron Collider Overheats Due To Dropped Chunk Of Bread

After this many failure you would hope they would stop. Obviously science does not want the LHC to ever work so stop trying.
It's like ramming your dick in a shredder and realising it doesn't fit and keep trying only to have it shredded to bits.
I would have been so pissed if the world ended because of this.
Well it IS a superconductor.
Maybe the Higg's just doesn't want to be found, so it's causing all these problems. Can humanity not just leave this poor misunderstood partial alone and let it possibly exist in peace?
and nothing of value was lost.
blame david hasselhoff
his carrier pigeon broke into the liquor cabinet again

You have no idea, how science actually works, do you?

Obviously, you have absolutely no idea what they try to do at LHC if you compare it with that.
E.g: Development of the plane was similar. Many many failures at the beginning until it worked. Now you enjoy all your "working technology around you" without respecting the long journey scientist did with their research - And everytime there were failures. I know no development of anything which worked out of the box and straight on from beginning to the endproduct.

Everybody who thinks like that should be instantly shot. If you don't do the experiments, you simply don't develop.
I still wonder how ignorant and dumb majority can be over "new stuff".
The idea the Higgs Boson is sabotaging itself from existing in the future seems more realistic every day.
Fucking hell
I saw your 120 agrees and absent-mindedly rated you agree without reading your post
This is how ratings work, FP.

We really need to get our Science-Forums (easily accessible) back - "General Discussion" is just full of 12-years-old trolls so those discussions will end in stupid memes.
It's clearly sabotage. We all know birds are fundamentalists who despise science.
We must retaliate and send a message, lest the birds think they've won.
To the shotgun!
I guess the question now is: Is the higgs particle fallible, and if it is infallible then what does that mean of "god - the unfallible"
I think the real question is whether or not you can ask a question that makes any actual sense
Its particle physics its not supposed to make sense.
You gotta shittin' me...
Shit, imagine what a whole loaf of bread could do.
Whats the purpose for the LHC? Sorry I forgot.
I guess the question now is: Is the higgs particle fallible(...)
Erm? Anyway, to "test this" (or better: "To test scientific questions rather than esotrical nonsense") we have to run the LHC.
(...), and if it is infallible then what does that mean of "god - the unfallible"
Nothing, since the Higgs Boson has nothing to do with "god".

It makes sense. Just because you "don't know about it" doesn't mean "it makes no sense".
I don't know a tiny bit about building cars - So does building cars make sense? Of course it does! You are underlying a fail-logic.

I miss the science forum. :(
Whats the purpose for the LHC? Sorry I forgot.
The same as for the other particle-accelerators plus those experiments the predecessors couldn't show (since they weren't operable at that energy):

Anti-Matter Research

Test of yet unproven hypothesis (Super Symmetry, String Theory, ...)

Strengthen existing theories (Standard Model of particles - One reason why we need the Higgs Boson)

Quark Gluon Plasma (Research of "how the universe was at really short times after big-bang" )

.. list extensible ..
Custom forums were great. :(
I miss the science forum. :(
I too :(
Well, it still exists but is really hard to access. I still don't understand why majority of the "Custom Forums" got cleaned up from the "Custom Forums Frontpage" except for stuff like "Gaypride","Furry" and all that crap.
It's surprising how many people underestimate just how complicated the LHC actually is, and it's size.
It isn't some simple device like a PC, it's a hideously complicated machine spanning 2 countries, a few bad connections or some bread crumbs somewhere is to be expected.

I know, it's great, right?
But why cant we poke fun at it for this simple "breakdown" :crying:

No harm in that really, the only harm I see is when people start to rage and call for it to be taken down.
