E.g: Development of the plane was similar. Many many failures at the beginning until it worked. Now you enjoy all your "working technology around you" without respecting the long journey scientist did with their research - And everytime there were failures. It's surprising how many people underestimate just how complicated the LHC actually is, and it's size. It isn't some simple device like a PC, it's a hideously complicated machine spanning 2 countries, a few bad connections or some bread crumbs somewhere is to be expected.
