Do you even know why inbreeding stopped? Ever seen the old European kings?
This quote about charles II of Spain:
Charles II was "short, lame, epileptic, senile, and completely bald before 35, he was always on the verge of death, but repeatedly baffled Christendom by continuing to live."
Why did it happen? Because of this:

EDIT: Why is this funny?
Incest isn't the same as inbreeding. The former is a taboo because it used to lead to the latter. The latter is a taboo because it results in retarded kids. The former doesn't need to be a taboo because of contraception.
This probably won't affect anything, though it is quite disgusting.

I think it's disgusting to ban sex between two adult people because it's "inappropriate" or whatever reason. No one has given a reason why it should be banned anyway.
it's a intresting idea..
but i wouldn't be against it, but i think we have more pressing things to focus on right now
than letting brothers and sisters or whatever "tap dat"

Legalization of incest would promote it (just like legalization of pot would promote smoking it) therefor more in-breeding would occur as pregnancies, unwanted or not, will happen. Perhaps a decent middle-ground would be to allow incest, but prohibit incestuous births. Something like that would be a bit weird to regulate however, especially since it would bring abortion laws into play.

No that's stupid
Doesn't affect me. I don't care who fucks each other in their spare time.
Please tell me why this isn't legal everywhere(inc. gay marriage). I mean really, this is fucking opinion.

Unless they fuck YOU
It should be legal. It takes several generations of inbreeding to produce any sort of disability and I highly doubt that their children will go on to marry one another for three or four more generations. We're talking about consenting adults.
I'm all for it. I mean who really needs all 46 chromosomes?
Unless I'm mistaken, I think there's a passage in the Bible that is pro-incest...
Found it:
"And the Lord said 'go forth and hit that, for a hole is a hole'"
Well you also have to consider that according to the bible there was only Adam and Eve so obviously when Eve had children they only had one another to reproduce with and apparently this is how the Earth was populated.

Pretty sure that it's the other way around as far as pot is concerned. I really doubt that because you legalize incest that everyone will suddenly WANT to be in a relationship like that. Would you suddenly want to bed with your Sister because they legalized it today? No. It may be legal but there is also a huge social stigma around it as this thread makes obvious which is just as restricting, no one wants people to know they're married to their Sister or Cousin much less that their child is a result of it. I think it's self regulating in that respect.

Actually no, humans were created on the sixth day, God rested on the seventh day, and created Adam and Eve specifically after that.

I don't know a whole lot about the bible, so my apologies. So Adam and Eve are not the only human beings on Earth in the beginning? Because I had a discussion with this guy in one my classes who claimed they were and that's what got me wondering about the genetic repercussions of that.

I can't remember what it's called, but there's something psychological that stops you being sexually attracted to family members.

Freud had a theory called the Oedipus complex where the child is attracted to their different gender parent and only lose this feeling after repression of said feelings.

I do know that most of his 'theories' have been trumped by modern psychology, but he was still an interesting guy.

He was an amazing man that paved the way for acceptance of mental illness.
But he's still bad-shit crazy.
Actually no, humans were created on the sixth day, God rested on the seventh day, and created Adam and Eve specifically after that.
It first says that God created shit during the six first days: including one man and one woman. He told them to reproduce and fill the Earth.
By the seventh day he had "finished his work". But during that day he also kept creating shit, including the Paradise, Adam and Eve. Apparently the land was barren - despite the fact that just a few days ago he had created all kinds of plantlife, wildlife and humans.
Note that if he created Eve from Adam's rib, she was probably to some extent a clone of his. They reproduced, and their children inbred.

No, not "everyone" would want to make babies with their sisters, but a legalization would undeniably ease the stigma around incestuous relationships/marriage, making it more socially acceptable. However I reiterate that I don't care at all what people do in their bedrooms and I wouldn't want anyone to care about what I do, I just don't think incest should be legalized on the same base as homosexuality because the former IS actually harmful in the long run.
Chimps were able to have incest without inbreeding.

There is still a stigma around homosexuality, even if it is legalized and 'acceptable' now and Incest is harmful in the long but that's a really long run and very unlikely. The only people who practice incest that much would do it regardless what the law entitles them to do.
It just ain't right. Not only is it a perversion of morality, but it's also a perversion of evolution. Inbreeding can result in mutations in one's bloodline, at least in the long term. Same-generation incest is twisted enough, but cross-generation incest is pretty darn wrong in my opinion.
Just out of curiousity, is there any kinda chart that details how controversial incest can be depending on the type of pairing, and the distance of relation? (aka self + sibling = Level 10, self + first cousin = Level 9, self + second cousin = Level 8, etc)
So incest is okay as long as they don't make babies? cool
What's the point? People who are so intent on banging their sister will bang their sister, regardless if it's legal or not.
I don't think there's anything wrong with having morals and unlike homosexuality or something like that, they don't HAVE to have sex with their relatives and can choose to live a normal life with people they aren't related to.
It's just a fetish so I don't see anything wrong with it being illegal IMO.
The man with what appears to be a Nascar avatar wants to impose his morals on us and thinks homosexuals can't stop fucking everyone of the same sex
hahaha
Fun fact: Political elites of the past would practice incest to preserve their bloodlines.
Also I don't understand how incest is more acceptable than gay marriage. Anyone care to explain?
What the fuck Switzerland?

I find them equally acceptable. If you're not hurting someone who gives a shit

As do I, I just don't understand in the US why Americans are more accepting of incest than gay marriage.
