I wonder what Apple is going to call the next iPhone, maybe they'll do an iPad and just call it "The new iPhone", it'll be the 6th released model.
kind of outdated article but I can honestly see apple's point of view from this: http://gizmodo.com/5847981/this-is-why-the-iphones-screen-will-always-be-35-inches and before you ask; no, I don't think the iphone is objectively superior I just think there's some benefits to having a smaller screen in addition to the drawbacks.
This is the reason my mother doesn't want an Android phone, they all seem to be including large screens, that said she'd like the iPhone screen to be slightly bigger though.
It is getting to the point that the rest of the phone is getting so thin and small that the screen can be huge but the phone will be a decent size sort of like the HTC One X.
I bet it's going to look exactly like the iPhone 4S, with new specs (quad core, more RAM, maybe a 4" screen,...), and one gimmick they will announce as 'revolutionary'. And then every Apple fan will buy it.

I'd buy it.
It's revolutionnary

Shouldn't it be iWater?

It's not like the next iPhone (Or any phone really) will have less memory or a slower processor, it's going to be an upgrade spec wise. I don't see the issue if Apple keep the design the same either, if it works then why change it? It lets you keep your cases or such while switching your phone (I'm using a case for the 4 on my 4S) That just seems to me to be "It's probably just going to be better and have a similar design". Most things are, the Galaxy S3 is a more powerful Galaxy S2, etc.

H2O copyrighted, sues planet Earth for making it.

And yet they still manage to somehow make it look sexier than normal water. Anyway, on-topic: oh fuck another iPhone. Who's going to bother. Not me.

As stupid as it is, I am pretty sure if this project was real, there would be people that would buy it.
If the iPhone actually did have these features, and managed to somehow have the technology to make fucking 3D holograms, then it'd definitely blow every phone, hell, every major piece of technology, out of the water. Thing is, that technology isn't going to happen for a very long time.
You know what is funny, kids sharing that video in Facebook and claiming that iPhone 5 is out. Too dumb to read video description even when asked.
Friend of mine got a S3 about a week ago, and while I do like it, I can't use it. If I hold the phone such that I can hit the icons in the dock, my thumb is too short to reach the notification bar. And since most new Android phones are going "BIGGUR SCREEN IS MORE GOODER", I'll probably be off to iOS. Now I just need to wait and see if the rumoured iPhone 5 screen is also too big or not :/
kind of outdated article but I can honestly see apple's point of view from this: http://gizmodo.com/5847981/this-is-why-the-iphones-screen-will-always-be-35-inches and before you ask; no, I don't think the iphone is objectively superior I just think there's some benefits to having a smaller screen in addition to the drawbacks.
I do see the point, but it's not entirely true. I have fairly small fingers, but I can reach all over my 3.7" screen. It seems like they thought that the thumb is fixed in one position, and doesn't have any leeway. If I fix my thumb at the side of my phone while holding it pretty awkardly and move it with my other hand, I can replicate this, but no one would ever hold a phone like that. Of course my phone isn't 4.2", but someone with larger hands than me shouldn't have problems with the 4.2" screen (with the 4.8" Android phones, I doubt they're operational with only one hand). I honestly believe that Apple just kept that screen size because of consistency - back in 2007, 3.5" wasn't a small screen by any means, and if you look at the SGSI (from 2010) it's also around the same size. The HD2 was the first phone to really utilize a big screen, and then others followed suit because it's very comfortable for web browsing and watching movies. And landscape operation all in all.
still using my old samsung "brick phone" and got no problem with it why do people even need a iphone
still using my old samsung "brick phone" and got no problem with it why do people even need a iphone
Why do people need internet on their phones? It's something you have to try out before you realize what you've been missing the whole time.
still using my old samsung "brick phone" and got no problem with it why do people even need a iphone
There's tonnes of people on facepunch that are still of the attitude of "Well I've got an old phone and it works fine!" but you kinda realize like everyone else once you get a smartphone that they're really nice to have around. I mean even if you've got no friends to talk to it's still like a mini laptop in terms on functionality, it can open emails, watch videos on youtube, and browse web pages. As for it being an iPhone - about 77% of the phone market decided it didn't need to be an iPhone.
Why would you ever need to use your phone one-handed?
I use my phone one handed all the time. The idea of swiping from screen to screen is designed to allow input with a single finger. The only scenarios where you would need two hands to operate your smartphone would be ones like keyboard input and zooming in the UI/browser.
Why would you ever need to use your phone one-handed?
Because you might be using your other hand for something else?
The thing is it won't blow anything out of the water simply by virtue of being an iPhone. A great many people detest the brand name, some for logical reasons, some because of blind hatred of things that are different from their things. Android fans and iPhone fans are always butting heads, and there's very little you will do to change their views. The only thing it will blow out of the water is, obviously, older iPhones. I just got a 4S and I love it, Siri has helped me organize my life. That doesn't mean the Android phones are bad, they're just different. They might not have Siri(I honestly don't know if they have an equivalent), but they have other features that make them perfectly legitimate phones. It all comes down to preference. Chances are that if you're going to buy a Galaxy SIII, you won't be even considering an iPhone, and vice versa. I know my dad needs some iPhone only apps for work, ProTools and Pandora's Box controllers, specifically, and he now needs more power as the apps evolve and get more complicated, so he has to get an iPhone. There's a great many reasons to get one device over another, and generally newer generations of either device won't sway anyone from those reasons.

Switching from Android to iOS, I can confirm that Siri is well ahead of any voice control on any other phone. From what I've read (since I've not seen the galaxy s iii), only SVoice is close to Siri. But I can also say that no voice control is truly that useful either. It's not something you should take into account when buying a phone.
