• Fecal transplants can save lives when antibiotics won't
They take a tiny sample and insert it into your stomach by various means, as far as I know. They're after the bacteria in it, not the undigested waste. Read read read.
Ah, makes sense. I only really skimmed the article to be honest. Still, ew.
Wow, so now some other person's crap can cure C. Difficile? Well, shit.
So what, do they just sort of push it up? Who the fuck even thought to do this?
Anyone with knowledge of the intestinal bacterial flora can think of this idea, it makes perfect sense. And it isn't something they discovered just now. Fecal transplantation has been used as treatment for bacterial inbalance for at least half a century, just not very widely.
Fecal transplantation is actually starting to be used for a huge variety of stuff now, not just C.Diff but constipation, IBS, and Crohn's and Colitis. It's a very exciting field, especially for Crohn's (with very few available meds after you've exhausted the standard pathways, although that list is growing at an astounding rate), and I definitely wouldn't have any problems taking a pill containing someone else's faeces if I knew it posed me no harm (and I think the trials they're doing at the moment use samples from members of your family)
They're making synthetic shit with the helpful bacteria so a few years later it won't be as disgusting.

fyi some of the methods include a transnasal application (shove a tube down your nose all the way to your intestine, squirt poop through it)

So instead of taking an antibiotic pill you'll take a poop pill? lol
Messed up gut bacteria has as far as I know been linked to lethargy, depression, obesity, weight loss, food intolerance and even things like parkinsons disease. I find it slightly interesting that I seem to see so many people suffering from things like food intolerance and digestive problems and that Antibiotics have been handed out like candy in recent history.
I'm having a hard time finding it again but I read there was something like a doubled risk of obesity later in life from even a single dose of strong antibiotics during infancy If I find it I'll post it, you wouldn't happen to have a link for the depression and allergy stuff eh?
Eat shit and... live?
This isn't news it's been around for years
