So what happens when the power is shut off to a hospital? Way to think this through.
What will it take for people to realize this law hasn't changed anything? If you break the law, you show them papers. It's not like they walk up to every single Mexican and demand papers. The boycotts are ridiculous, and I'm ashamed of my own state for actually responding to it. I doubt this will actually go anywhere, it's a bunch of threats that were started over a stupid misunderstanding of a law.
What you're quoting is the post-amendment version of the law. Before that, the police could just walk up to anyone that they "suspect" of being an illegal immigrant, demand papers, and arrest anyone who couldn't produce them on the spot. The fact is that it's still not that hard to go from "That person is Mexican-looking he might be an immigrant" to "That person is Mexican-looking I'd better pull him over for something to see if he's an immigrant." Not to mention that the senators who proposed the bill are absolute bigots who have repeatedly profiled people from Mexico as violent criminals, drug dealers, murderers, and gang members.
