How are these not reasons to hold off getting the game? By the sound of it you don't play a lot of PC games. Going from smooth 60 FPS to the 25-30 FPS is fucking awful and it looks slow. Also low textures, no AA, and shit resolutions compared to things PC gamers are used to DOES make the game look bad.
I'm not saying "PC MASTUR RACE" but to completely disregard what people are used to is silly.
I actually do play a lot of PC games, but I play on consoles too, it's called getting over it when you realize that they're running on 7 year old hardware, they've done the best they could with the hardware available, and to be honest it looks fucking amazing for that.
I'd rather watch a high quality movie months after release than watching it in a low quality sketchy backalley theater.
That's our choice though. I have a PS3, I could get it, but I'd rather wait to get a better experience.
Or the port could be horrible and I'm fucked both ways. It's my decision and it's my money.
You're comparing watching movies to playing video games? Not really that comparable. It's not like it's running at 480p with fog every 50 feet to cover up the render distance.
They'll make even more by delaying it. Half the people who will buy it for PC will probably have already caved and bought it for a console and they will probably buy it again when it releases.
I am also guilty of this
I actually do play a lot of PC games, but I play on consoles too, it's called getting over it when you realize that they're running on 7 year old hardware, they've done the best they could with the hardware available, and to be honest it looks fucking amazing for that.
So because they have done the best they could with the hardware we should settle? No thank you. I mean, its great that you can look past the faults but I expect the best and I don't want to buy a game twice just because I can't control myself.
I don't have to "get over it" when I know they're going to release a PC version, it's going to look better, and by then some new content for it might be out so I can get that also.
Literally nothing is detrimental in me waiting. I don't care about midnight releases and playing the game on day 1, I just don't want to buy the game twice because I know I want it on PC, I know (hope) it's going to be better on PC, and that's when the majority of my friends are getting it also.
I'd buy it if I had a console
I'd buy it if I had a console
you can find a cheap old 360 for £40 (and probably less in the US). could just sell it on again when you're done with V

On a PC, yes.
On a console where in any well-made game the frames are perfectly evenly timed and have a bit of motion blurring, no. It's significantly worse but unlike PC it's not game-breaking.
Also low textures, no AA, and shit resolutions compared to things PC gamers are used to DOES make the game look bad.
Raw graphics fidelity is massively overrated. Any monitor with a good (read: TV-grade) scaling unit can make slightly less than native resolutions with no AA look more eye-pleasing than native with AA. What looks good in static screenshots is not always most important.
Personally I believe the PC port will not be worth waiting for. As rockstar have proven with GTA4, they do not know how to make an engine which produces eye-pleasing results at high resolutions where any blemishes in the quality of the lighting etc. are more apparent. Even the incredible work of iCEnhancer only looks good in relatively low-res/downscaled screenshots and videos.

Eugh, If there is one thing I have never and will never do to improve performance on a pc game its lower the res below native, looks like shite.

That's just wrong.
If only they had released a PC version, they could have like $14 billion already!
Do many "PC gamers" not actually own a current generation console. Pretty much every person I know who wants to play it that only plays PC games has dusted off their xbox's / PS3s to play it.
I doub't they would have taken that much more had they released a PC version at the same time.
[editline]21st September 2013[/editline]
might as well release the Android and iOS versions too
Of course the iOS version would come out first with the Android one coming at some undisclosed point in the future..

[editline]20th September 2013[/editline]
And im saying that cause, well, PC Max Payne 3 ran fucking amazingly well.
I think (don't quote me on this) Rockstar changed the way they develop PC "ports" just prior to Max Payne 3. Apparently the team who did the porting worked on it from the start.
playing through what is arguably the most significant game of a generation on extremely outdated, inferior hardware at mediocre framerate while dealing with things such as texture pop in, generally poor vision distance and lack of anti-aliasing is what I would describe as missing out. I have a PS3 and a 360 and I could easily afford to buy it but I won't because I don't want to ruin it for myself.
You pretty much just described my experience playing GTA IV on my PC, and the opposite of my experience of playing GTA V on my 360.
That's just wrong.
Keep in mind I did not say low resolution looks better. It doesn't.
A bit of blurring does work wonders though for flickering/aliasing on shadows, edges, etc. It makes a live scene more pleasing to the eye.
They'll make even more by delaying it. Half the people who will buy it for PC will probably have already caved and bought it for a console and they will probably buy it again when it releases.
That was my plan all along
if they've made this much then there is no real profit for making a pc version
:(
That's why they release it with the PS4 and Bone version since the hardware is very similar, thus saving money!
AND EARNING IT!

Could I have a source on this? Because it's never been the case in my experience.
Raw graphics fidelity is massively overrated. Any monitor with a good (read: TV-grade) scaling unit can make slightly less than native resolutions with no AA look more eye-pleasing than native with AA. What looks good in static screenshots is not always most important.
Complete crap in my experience. This is also subjective. Lower resolution with AA can look decent upscaled, but without AA always looks awful to my eyes.

They specifically stated in interviews that the point was to make its PC port look fantastic at higher resolutions, and they succeeded.

No, no, no, no, no, this is exactly what you said and I'm calling you out on your bullshit. No way in hell does upscaled 720p look better than native 1080p with AA.
Lol you people are ridiculous, ruin it for yourself? What a joke.

Get over yourself.

That's probably what they're doing, between that and GTA Online AND the PS4 and Xbone versions.
PC is what I'm mainly going to play it on when it comes out, so it would be kind of ruining it for me if I played a lot of the content I wouldn't know about otherwise on console.
It's a fucking video game. It's pathetic how rabid people are because some people want to wait.

I am not a graphics whore. But the low res and jaggies of GTA IV on X360 really made the game less enjoyable. Things in the distance look like a pixellated mess. Detailed games like GTA V really should run at least in full-hd. And 60fps are necessary to have an enjoyable fluent experience.
after 25~ hours of gta5 on console its terrible i mean its not even running 60 fps shit game
I think your console might be broken. Its worth noting that the various technical requirements for console games require them to run at a solid FPS with no significant drops. So it doesn't matter if its 30 or 60, its still smooth and you cannot honestly tell the difference.
Wow I had to eat my words on this. I never thought they would make a billion in a week.

lol
The graphics for V on consoles are beautiful, sometimes I forget I'm even playing on a console. Playing on 30 FPS gives it more of a "film" feel.
Also I dunno if it's the same for the 360 but the way the game uses the controller is amazing. It uses rumble as much as it can, and it immerses you so damn well.

Buying a console just for one game is pretty moronic

I really like how when you drive over the rumble strips on the edges of the highways it makes your controller rumble.

yeah I'm sorry but the fact that the xbox 360 is so old at this point is just bullshit
it's also about control preference, most people JUST CANNOT STAND using a controller. I know I can't.
and people are allowed to bitch about graphics, I mean just look at THIS

I personally wanted it on PC
because I wanted to REALLY experience the game for all its worth, I wanted the FULL experience, and looking good and feeling a mouse in my hand is huge on doing just that.
the xbox 360 just is not acceptable any more for me. It's insanely out of date and lets face it, telling people they are saying " i just CANT enjoy the game on such an INFERIOR device" is a dick move because uhhh yeah, the current gen consoles ARE GREATLY inferior to pc's, this is a FACT. Xbox one and PS4 are equals, but 360 and ps3 are just not worth the money at all any more.
Get over yourself.

I didn't have high end specs so I did 2-30 fps and didn't even run it on max settings
but let me tell you
the cloths on his very back alone felt real
the lighting, the buildings, hell, fucking everything about that game screams "Masterpiece, a solid 10/10" for me. For me graphics greatly enhanced how much I loved the game. Gameplay was obviously nothing short of amazing, of course.
