Am I the only one who doesn't totally hate it? Gonna have to wait until the actual performance to judge.
The "damaged" tattoo is really stupid, though. I'm just happy to see a unique take on the Joker, and this is coming from a lifelong fan of Batman.
Come on, if we can give Joker with dreads a chance, we can give Leto a chance.

To be fully honest, I like the idea of a punkish, metalhead Joker a lot. It's not too in line with his normal style by any stretch of the imagination, but it's new and refreshing. I think of it as just another iteration and interpretation, and even if it sucks ass (which hopefully it won't), you can just ignore it, really.
ITT people overreacting to one image........personally i like it, it's a different interpretation and i'm kinda hoping he does have a suit but i'll have to wait till his actual performance first.

Is Neill Blomkamp directing this?
I'm not really feeling this at all. I thought they got the best actor for it and then they do this. In the end it's all about the performance but I feel this design is just another showcase how DC tries to be dark and edgy.
Looks badass as fuck
I love the smiles on the back of his hand and forehand, but even better is hidden robin on his biceps.
To be fair, if he changes his hairstyle in the film as often as Jared Leto does in real life, we probably will end up seeing him with dreads by the end of the movie :v:

Also writing, since writing and directing are two things that can make or break a film.
I'd rather see that in a Batman adaptation that what we're getting, because what we're getting looks like Marylin Mason's version of the Joker.
You'd prefer to see a joker that instead of killing people when it's funny is now some mythical creature that will always exist and is just a pyscho? Joker fans everyone.

imagine if he just started dressing more and more ridiculously over the course of the film like tyler durden? and by the end he's wearing like a fluorescent mesh top and a giant fur coat and a pair of welder's goggles
i never actually realized how similar those characters were before this
This is what a 14 year old thinks is cool and edgy
~~im so damagEd~
I just can't see the joker going in for all these tattoos like "aw ye gimmi the fully SICK badass skull one!!"
Carving in the HAHAHA's with a knife would look so much better
You know what? Remove that fucking Damaged-tattoo and im in, we're not gonna see anyone trying to top Ledger's style/version of Joker so why not go a little crazy with it
that is one edgy joker
Tattooed Joker could work but not like this.

I'm not a Joker fan, but I'd rather a wacked out version of the Joker than a version of the Joker that looks like a Marylin Mason photoshop.
There can be also be multiple interpretations of a character. I also don't think its a good version of the Joker, but its more interesting than what we got. (With the information we got so far.)

That's what he looks like when he misses an ICP concert
For me its all going to depend on how they play the joker- if they go for a Marilyn Manson style twist on the joker persona i suppose it could be pretty neat.
Still that look has me worried hes just going to be full on edgelord.
Alright so people are starting to find evidence that the Damaged tattoo was added in post so I'm seriously starting to think it's a big [sp]joke[/sp] to mess with nerds.
Damaged tattoo was added later. Contrast exposes artifacts, sharpening shows no blending.
He reminds me of Keith Flint from the Prodigy somewhat
looks fuckin shit
Yeah, until further confirmation, i think its safe to assume at least the damaged tattoo isnt on the actual final design.

Yeah, putting lots of people off that aren't even diehard batman fans... great joke!
Sideways view of Mistah J.

Looks like that head tattoo isn't there. Thank god.
once again, the internet sees one early picture of a character that's meant to be seen in motion and decides the film will be bad because of it.
The director is David Ayer, The guy who made Training Day and Fury. he might be the most accomplished film director I've seen take the helm on a superhero movie since the resurgence of the genre. This is probably the first comic book film I'm actually looking forward to genuinely

I like the guy's films and all but first Thor was directed by sir Kenneth Branagh and these two gentlemen are not in the same league.

Yeah, welcome to the Joker ruse cruise and everyone fell for the first joke, as terrible as it was

When he works with Shakespeare he's great, but Branagh is also the director behind the latest Jack Ryan film, and I wouldn't say that in any way is a 'good' movie
and obviously David Ayer has made some bad films too but a realistic action/thriller director is more suited to a comic book film than a Shakespearian, IMO at least
[editline]25th April 2015[/editline]
also Branagh made Sleuth which was just bad and I'll happily go on record saying that
I'm pretty much okay with this, it looks alright and the tats don't bother me at all (which might be because I just like tattoos in general).
But this one?

Remove that.

I have no dog in this fight but I thought I should point out to you, as a movie fan, that a story that pits brother vs brother in deciding who will take the father's place is about as Shakespearean as you can get. The superhero element is just window dressing. It's basically King Lear with aliens.
