To make this even worse, it's going to appeal a lot of younger people because it's so "hip" and edgy, n' cuz he's so HAWT amirite?
Why is everything from my childhood going to shit.
I have no dog in this fight but I thought I should point out to you, as a movie fan, that a story that pits brother vs brother in deciding who will take the father's place is about as Shakespearean as you can get. The superhero element is just window dressing. It's basically King Lear with aliens.
Shakespeare also has limited if any action scenes, and lengthy poetic dialogue written in rhythm with heavy use of classical rhetoric, as well as monologues that are quasi-fourth wall breaking appeals to the audience. Thor contained none of that
I liked the Thor film, but hearing Branagh was at the helm wasn't something that made me enthusiastic for it prior, and nothing about the Thor film is notably 'Branagh'
Why don't we just wait and reserve our judgements until we can actually see this new Joker in action.
I think it would pretty hard to make a new Joker since Heath Ledger basically cemented his legacy in that role. Just give this guy a chance first.
I just don't care about comic book accuracy in superhero movies anymore because I don't think it can be done. I think Batman is best as animation first, comics second (just my opinion) and third video games. It can't be done because Hollywood movies are about mass appeal and often edgy theater-bait. There is a reason why the games are reminiscent of BTAS but the movies are not.

New Joker is pretty cool. They just released a trailer for his character

Yeah, welcome to the Joker ruse cruise and everyone fell for the first joke, as terrible as it was
Why cant we just get a killing joke movie done well?
That shit would make so much money and be so fucking good if they even copied the source material 1:1.
Killing Joke deals with some disturbing themes and doesn't follow the structure of a typical superhero movie. I'd like to see it, but I don't know if it would be that big of a success finacially.
that is one edgy mcedge joker.

I could see it as an animated short film, similar to what they did with The Dark Knight Returns. I think I read somewhere it would be the one time Mark Hamill will return to voicing Joker if they ask him.
is he one of those new emo boy bands that edgy tweens like nowadays
I'm just glad they're not going for a Heath Ledger joker. I'm really tired of seeing people try to replicate that style, time for something new.
This design is pretty close to "death in the family" Batman comic, which basically had Joker cut off the skin of his face... really edgy DC.

Not really.
He's not wearing a mechanics jumpsuit.
And he still has his face.

How is it similar at all? His face is still on, he's not wearing a Mechanics jumpsuit. And he's got tattoos.
Why is he wearing only one latex glove?

I'd say that the reason you'll never see a movie adaptation of something like that, one story straight from the comics, is because it doesn't fit in a series of movies. A one off Batman movie, as amazing and profitable as it may be, doesn't interest the studio as much as the chance to do a series of Batman movies. So if you were to pitch Killing Joke to them you'd have to show how at least a trilogy of Batman films like that would work.
The problem with this Joker is it doesn't match the rest of their Batman work seen so far which has been fiercely loyal aesthetically so far. I just can't see Affleck sitting down as a massive Batman fan in his on-point costume, car and bat-wing and saying "yeah, this will look good opposite me".
I think this is probably a joke. I hope.

It probably is considering every other leak or tease of his appearance had no tattoos. And he's wearing the suit from TDK Returns.
Someone on Reddit suggested that maybe they'll release multiple pictures of Jared as different Jokers for the Joker's 75th anniversary. I hope that's true.
there's a saying i use that's worked pretty well for me the last few years and that is "always judge a book by its cover" and i think it apply's pretty well here
Did anyone else misread the Damaged as "I am a god"? I first saw it on my phone and thought "huh". Would be better I guess, but maybe this Joker is such a joker that he makes ironic jokes about his mental state and has ascended to the next level of clown college.

didn't someone cutoff Joker's face?
didn't someone cutoff Joker's face?
I think he cut his own face off. Lord knows how he wasn't in constant pain with his facial muscles exposed.

imo he either ignored or got to live with pain entire life. After all, swimming in chemicals doesn't do good to you.
