Let's hope it sucks, so it can be stuck in purgatory and move on.
:lost:
Mass Effect already is a movie, though. :gonk:
I hope it's a 20 hour movie with lots of reporter punching and suggestive but ultimately unenjoyable alien 'sex' scenes and lots and lots and lots of stilted information-tree discussions with pointless people who seem to know way way way too much information given their situation.
Should be awesome.

You bet your ass is better have reporter punching.
They're missing the point of the game entirely.
Who the fuck punched the reporter?
It feels much better to show off just how stupid she is with great rational answers.
Now that stupid ass fanboy however....
I wonder what Garrus will be doing for the majority of the movie hmmm cant think of it right now
It will probadly end like any other movie based off a Video game, it will suck.
I'm interested in the end of the relationships. If you know what I mean.
:smug:
Shouldn't this be merged with the thread in the Mass Effect section?!
:irony:
Also I dont expect this to be any good, I wanted to ragtwist babys over the dead bodys of the idiots who made the Eragon movie, and practically every game movie.
I cant think of one that didn't fail horribly.
I don't see how this could be translated into film without copying the storyline heavily from the game.
Going by the trailers, and the box art for ME1, male Shepard is the canonical Shepard. So probably male Shepard.
How about no. The canon is how one plays the game. If you fuck shit up and kill the hostages in the BDTS, then they're, in your canon, dead.
If Shep's female in other player's game, Shep's female in that player's canon.
[editline]08:46AM[/editline]
Also, $50 the movie's not revolving around Shep, at least if BioWare has anything to say with it. I mean, they even made Shep gender neutral in the comics, why the fuck not do it in the movie?
What about the bioshock movie
Starring Clint Eastwood!
"Game over, steampunk..."
Hoping for a female shepard who's renegade... But expecting a paragon male :frown:
Goddamnit, why does everyone think that it'll be about Shep?
Why would it be?
If it has Shepard in the movie, it'd ruin basically the whole series, since BioWare made the games for freedom, and players to make their own canon. Even if they introduced a Jack Bauer-Shepard Shepard, it'd still ruin the series, since there are a shitload of people who play a can't-we-just-be-friends-hippy and cockslap-them-again-and-again Shepards.
tl;dr BioWare knows that introducing Shepard in any other way then mentioning her/him in the movie in a gender-neutral way would make a lot of players unhappy so they won't do it.
Or if they do, they're not BioWare.
hopefully after HL2 EP3 there will be a movie of the whole Half life including parts from Blue Shift and Opposing Force, and maybe they can cleverly include Aperture Science.
It's being made by the 300 guys.
It's going to be a clusterfuck of nudity and slow motion violence.
I'd watch it.
They better use the teaser idea I thought of (Gold members may recognize it)
KEY:
[] - Where it shows a static screen, with the most animation possibly being the letters moving or something.
Animated Frame: You know, snippets of the movie (or in this case, teaser, since it won't be in the final product.)
SCENE:
[screen shows preview screen]
[black screen, ominous music begins now]
Animated Frame 1: Panoramic view of a Martian crater, muffled radio chatter can be heard.
Animated Frame 2: View moves to the ground, the sound of an apparently large, manned vehicle approaches. Vehicle passes by the screen as the screen turns to focus in on the vehicle.
[Black screen, ominous music stops as the screen shows the following words: In 2084, Humanity took it's first steps on Mars.]
Animated Frame 3: Screen is now showing what appears to be an open air civilian mine, vehicle previously seen is parked at the mine's edge as the screen begins to close in on the edge of the mine.
Animated Frame 4: Screen focuses on miners lazily sitting by, watching readings as mining equipment bores into the ground. Sound of machinery hitting something hard can be heard, then breaking, miners appear annoyed and begin to walk over to the machinery, sounds of obvious annoyance can be heard.
Animated Frame 5: Screen is looking up at the miners as though from the perspective of the machinery, miners begin to crowd at the edge leading to the broken machinery, apparently dumbstruck, quiet radio chatter indicates clear shock and apparently being dumbstruck.
[Black screen, ominous music begins to pick up again. Words appear on the screen again: In 2148, miners uncovered something that will forever change the course of Humanity.]
Animated Frame 6: Screen moves upwards towards the miners as the ominous music reaches a crescendo, as the screen goes to head-level of the miners, it turns to look at what they're looking at: a large white ceiling of obvious artificial make.
[Black Screen, music that has reached climax stops, words appear on screen: We are not alone.]
Animated Frame 7: Some time has passed since Frame 6, as the screen has a top down view of miners wiping Martian dust off the structure's uncovered surface, the screen begins to move backwards with gradual acceleration, showing miners apparently rushing towards pre-fab structures nearby as others continue to observe at the edge of the mine. Screen accelerates until it is revealed that they are working in an apparent crater. Screen accelerates until it shows the concave outline of Mars. The classic Mass Effect introduction music begins to play as the Sun rises from the concave outline of Mars, apparently materializing the words MASS EFFECT in a fashion similar to how it showed the words when revealing both games.
[Black Screen, words saying: Coming Soon.]
Also, if it's based during Humanity's ascendancy/First Contact War, I'll know the movie will be amazing.
When is Hollywood going to start making original movies again. Almost everything that is popular coming out is a remake or adaptation.
Although this is going to be fucking awesome.
I hope they use similar cgi effects used in the 2009 star trek movie
What about the bioshock movie
At least they picked a game that's got a plot, and the people making it are somewhat competent...
It's probably another joke like they did with the Legend of Zelda one.
They'll probably change a lot of the story, like in Prince of Persia, just so it can be more like every other Hollywood movie.
"Oh no, this is too different and interesting, we must make this look like all action movies made in Hollywood so we don't need to worry about losing money!"
Don't get me wrong, the movie might end up good, but not Mass Effect-good.
They better not screw this up.

they'll probably use someone most similar to the standard looking shepard, with a neutral behaviour.
Or they'll make all the important decisions the canon ones.
Think about it. We have a default Shepard appearance, and that's bascially Vanderburg. Also, playing ME2 with a non-imported character makes it clear that Shepard was mostly renegade (dead council, Wrex dead ect.).
Now, not that I'm saying it won't suck balls, because that's entirely possible; but, we can have this based on the ME1 storyline.
I'm also pretty sure that Bioware won't let them fuck everything up, like changing all the important aliens to humans.
If it's good then they will have achieved a fucking miracle, if not, then Mass Effect will be forever ruined.
producers of The Dark Knight, Director of I Am Legend, looking pretty decent, might be the first good video game movie.
They might go before Shephard, and base it on the First Conctact wars of ME. When Humans activated a Mass Relay and got the Taurians going oh hell naw on them.
