"This isn't what I expected."
For all intents and purposes, archaeological evidence ALREADY disproves Christianity by confronting the authenticity of Jesus' origins, and even more completely by showing how the Judeo-Christian god Yahweh was actually the god of war in a once-pagan desert pantheon including gods called El Elyon and Ba'al. This religion nearly lost out in the theistic arms race of the time that demanded that there be one god who was all-powerful, all-knowing and all-loving. There is a point in Exodus after the slaves are freed that they show a desire to return to worshipping other gods, which doesn't make sense in the modern interpretation and merely makes the Israelites seem incredibly stupid. This is because originally, they merely sought to return to peace and prosperity having no more need of a war god, and began once more worshipping the fertility gods, Ba'al and Asherah. This makes more sense, given it still shows they believe in Yahweh, but favor other gods of the same pantheon as their elohim.
Essentially that means that Yahweh's commandments and actions at this point dictate that he demanded sole worship of him from the Israelites. Suddenly the ten commandments whose first five laws that seemed like the vain insecurity of a single all-powerful god, now seem much more like a swapping of slave-owners, from the Egyptians to Yahweh, the jealous war god.
Essentially, any notion that the Christian god was ever an all-powerful lone being are dashed, and any notion that he is anything more than a malevolent self-serving entity are rendered null.
Therefore, I cannot possibly care less about whatever new things we discover about a man who seems to have been the David Blaine of the Bronze-Age. Not, of course, that I won't smile if they say some unflattering things.

What? You lost me when you started talking about pagan desert pantheon religions, arms races, David Blaine, and you started trying to disprove an entire religion based on your opinions alone.

Ever seen 'The Mummy'?
If you read from the book of the dead, you give life to the dead.

Oh yeah, I remember now. Maybe the books were guarded by swarms of scarab beetles.

Opinion? Exactly where do I fail to qualify my understanding that the monotheistic christian god is a forgery? I just explained quite clearly that Judaism and all that sprouted from it, WAS originally pagan. I offered facts. Evidence. What, am I out of line in saying that a deity who frees slaves solely so they can do HIS bidding instead, forever, is a bit of an insecure douchebag?
Just looking around for Christian opinions, as you do, and...
I went to Rapture Ready, as I do frequently, and I was reading what they were saying on this, and someone said this:
Yes...it is interesting. But if whatever they may find on them does not agree with the Scriptures we've already been given, they're false.
Yes, that's how it works. :downs:

Why can't we stop arguing about whether or not this will prove/disprove Christianity and instead talk about how amazing of a discovery this is?

You think that's bad, they actually changed their signature to "If it's true, it's not new. If it's new, it's not true."
Most people are already at god something or other. Problem with religion is everything in it is pretty much corrupt now.
Corrupt now? When hasn't it been?

lol ur confusing YHVH with yam. there's a big dif bro; yahweh was one of the head gods in the ancient jewish pantheon (iirc he was their patron god before he got merged with El and then slowly went from king of the gods to the only god) while yam was a water god that fucked with the sea for the hell of it.
also the "don't worship other gods" parts in exodus and the like are pro monotheist writings. the whole fucking point of them is to tell your average joe "stop treating the other gods as equal to YHVH you stupid fucker".
I hope it says God does not exist.
But he does, in each and every single one of us.
This discovery is HUGE to anyone who studies The New Testament. This discovery has nothing to do with whether what these people worshiped and what people worship today is true or not. Plus metal books are badass! Whatever is in there must have been important with all the effort that must have been put into making it.

"Note to self, keep writing on Lead, it'll be around after paper turns to dirt."
