I can't argue the fact that this guy clearly has a lot against black people, I just didn't quite like the reaction and protests that it received, but that said he should have at least been held by the police until it was investigated further. I would have thought that would have been a normal procedure for anyone who commits a shooting, albeit self-defence

Regardless a 15 yr old boy was BLEEDING OUT, SCREAMING FOR HELP. He was in no way a threat to Zimmerman at that point even if we assume that Tray was a threat yet he shot him again and murdered him. Zimmerman follows Martin, and begins pestering him, possibly with racial remarks.
Martin gets angry and begins verbally fighting back.
Zimmerman or Martin get angry enough to start a physical confrontation. A struggle ensues, and it ends with Zimmerman shooting Martin.
That seems a very likely story to me.

I mean, seriously, what could a kid of Martin's size do to hurt someone as big as Zimmerman with his bare hands?
Simply pulling a gun would be enough to scare someone off you. You wouldn't even need to turn the safety off, or load it for that matter.

If Zimmerman was scared that his life was in danger, he could justify the use of lethal force, or at least get off on a much lighter charge. It doesn't matter if Martin would of, or could of, killed Zimmerman. It's about if Zimmerman did this in the heat of the moment while Zimmerman and Martin were locked in a struggle.

You can't just pull a gun during a struggle. You need to pull it out and fire, otherwise it is pretty much worthless.
By the way, my post makes a whole lot of assumptions that may or may not be true. We will see the details of the case in the trial.
