• Sony to abandon DualShock design for PS4

this is good, because the 360 controller was literally designed around relaxed hands, so it's actually the most comfortable controller there probably is. Also virtually no other controller has the dpad where it is unless there is no thumbstick.
They should just do this, and i'd be happy.
If they made TWO controllers, one swapped and one not, I'd be happy. Because my thumbs have to be symmetrical. I just can't have it any other way.
Except sony only patented it. It was never confirmed for PS4, and I don't think it will.
What if Sony patent it just so other companies can't do it and thrust, secretly saving gamers everywhere.
Good, dualshock is shit.
there was this old picture I can't find that had a comparision of all the controllers from all the consoles ever, the dualshock is the only controller with the dpad where it is, unless it's an old controller from before thumbsticks or the virtual console controller (which was made for old games which prefer dpad since thumbstick didn't exist)
The dreamcast controller is still the best controller ever.

I bet Madcatz is making the new controllers
It's like the sixaxis all over again.
no, they're just like the R/L 2 buttons on the dualshock 2 but more retarded.
DS3 has quite a lot more pressure sensitivity than the DS2.
The dreamcast controller is still the best controller ever.
you serious? The dreamcast controller is probably the worst I've ever seen on a mainstream console since the Atari Jaguar. It doesn't have two joysticks, it feels odd in your hands, has only one set of shoulder buttons, and there is so much free space on the controller it's bizzare. And the LCD stuff in the controller thing is probably to do with the Vita. You can already use it as for remote play way before Wii U with the PSP (but it sucks bad) so I hope that's improved and extended on in the PS4.
comfortable*
Wow, I knew something was wrong there... Thanks.
Too bad it has a pig disgusting d-pad.
twist the d-pad and it turns into a standard 4 direction d-pad
The Razer Onza controller has (to me) the best D-Pad
Yeah man, that controller's great. I really love how the face buttons are literal pieces of fucking paper that will go off if you slightly brush them.
I had a huge crusade against the xbox 360 controller until I actually tried it, it fit comfortably in my hands. The reason I had such prejudice against it is because of Xbox 1's controller: Jesus christ that thing was huge.
As someone with big hands, that original xbox controller was a godsend.
twist the d-pad and it turns into a standard 4 direction d-pad
The problem is that it isn't four different buttons. It is a circular pad which is imprecise in 2D games and if you accidentally hit down and left rather than just left because they aren't individual buttons but rather just directions on a circular pad, you will perform the wrong action.
I rarely use the xbox's D pad so its design doesn't really bother me, my hands have grew over time and because of that the PlayStation doesn't feel all that comfortable like in the day whereas Xbox has been a perfect fit every time
Look at all these casual fags with CONTROLLERS I play all my games pro style with this 2MLG4U
The only current problem with Dualshock 3 design is this: It's really annoying because your fingers slip out of the trigger. Why wouldn't they make the triggers concave?
I never had a problem with those, but I've heard many whine about it. I've also seen concave clip-ons, look that up if you care.
Versions of the new PS4 pad include biometric sensors on the grips and an LCD touch screen
ugh

I love what they did with the trigger buttons.
Yet people continue to ask why Sony's shares are essentially junk.
Why not have both the sensor and the rumble. Controllers feel very eugh without rumble due to no feedback.
it's not the no feedback that bothers me, it's the no weight. the old sixaxxis controllers weighed next to nothing
I really dislike the dualshock controller. There's so many things wrong about it. Convex triggers, convex analog sticks (although this isn't that big of an issue because they're so rubbery but they still feel weird), the face buttons aren't that well defined and need to stick out a bit more and the whole thing just doesn't really slip into your palms that much. Compare this to the 360 controller which fits amazingly well in the hands and doesn't really have any buttons which "slip off" of your fingers (mostly an issue with the triggers). Of course the one thing that stops me from thinking it's the perfect controller is that godawful d-pad, one of the things which the dualshock does very well. [editline]19th January 2013[/editline] We're so fucking close to controller perfection, how did MS fuck up that dpad?
plz stop making terribad controllers plz make comfy trildo controllers or other shapes that aren't specifically designed for a 6 yr olds hands
I like this controller's design. It's very comfortable and you have quick access to buttons. It always felt a little too close/cramped for me though; like I'd have to fold my palm to reach some buttons. It'd be better if they spaced it out a bit more.
They should just do this, and i'd be happy.
Get out xbox fanboy. Analog sticks belong together.
Gamepads should have trackballs, not as good as a mouse, but much better than a thumbstick for aiming.
no, they're just like the R/L 2 buttons on the dualshock 2 but more retarded.
No, they're not even buttons, they're full analog controls, the rest of the buttons are all pressure sensitive
Why do you guys use this argument? Why have cars when we have carts? Why have lightbulbs when fire works just fine
car>cart, lightbulb>fire, you idiot
