They'll say anything to stir up shit in the US. :colbert:
We're one of the most powerful coaltions in the world, anyone who can remotely threaten NATO is a gigantic economic partner, I see no need for war excluding 3rd world countries seeking revolution from oppressive governments.
You're technically supporting my statement.
You're technically supporting my statement.
Cool, so we can both agree that news outlets should be given the ability to display massacres and faults by the military over the course of a war.

You're either extremely arrogant or just trying to be a troll now.

Isn't this guy usually a troll?
If we learned anything from Vietnam its that showing those kinds of violent images creates hippies...and we don't need more hippies.

I'm just saying that you haven't really set a proper argument up.
tl;dr: The Taliban is working for the government.
Isn't this guy usually a troll?
What is up with this thing were you call a guy you disagree with a troll? If you wanna' discredit someone don't pull that bullshit call him out on it.
If we learned anything from Vietnam its that showing those kinds of violent images creates hippies...and we don't need more hippies.
The hippie movement was born through a combination of multiple things, and really this is a flimsier argument then the soldier's reputation one.
Sucks for them. WikiLeaks is important.

How is saying that news organization should report news trolling?

I've just seen you before on other threads and you seemed trollish. If you truely believe what you're saying then i respect your opinion. Its kinda hard to tell on Facepunch for me. :colbert:

So your argument is that showing atrocities committed by the government breeds a more liberal mindset in the public and therefore to keep the glorious conservative master race strong we need the media to shut up?

Because thats just what we need now, the three major news networks in the States twisting images taken from Afghanistan. They would miss use it.
So your argument is that showing atrocities committed by the government breeds a more liberal mindset in the public and therefore to keep the glorious conservative master race strong we need the media to shut up?
Yes, that's what he is saying. Just watch him say otherwise.

Independent first off, and second off see my point above.
Independent first off, and second off see my point above.
Should have stated that rather than relying on us to read your mind.
Isn't this guy usually a troll?

so the public doesn't have a right to know the truth?
all those war crimes should just be swept under the rug?
Should have stated that rather than relying on us to read your mind.
Wait what? Because you jumped the ship a bit early?
And nevermind
In the climate we have today, there is no more truth from the media and most news outlets. I have to use sources from outside the country because most of them inside the states are now politically charged, NOT telling the truth.
I've just seen you before on other threads and you seemed trollish.
I'm just overly sarcastic. :smith:
so the public doesn't have a right to know the truth?

Yes, otherwise teabaggers wouldn't blindly support the war and we would have another outbreak of socialist nazi fascist liberal hippies.
Independent
that doesn't mean anything
you still sound like a retarded conservative
Because thats just what we need now, the three major news networks in the States twisting images taken from Afghanistan. They would miss use it.
Posting images in unedited form isn't "twisting".
Independent first off, and second off see my point above.
You know what independent means in the United States? A conservative that doesn't want to align with the Republican party.

I don't want to align with either party. Both of baggage and mistakes and neither fully represent me or what I think is right. That is why I'm independent, I shouldn't have to explain why I am to you and you shouldn't assume. I don't trust the main news station, they haven't had a good track record for the past 10 years. The only one who seems to be calling bullshit on everyone is John Stewart which I why I love him.

So would you be fine if Jon Stewart showed images from Afghanistan?
So would you be fine if Jon Stewart showed images from Afghanistan?
I would be fine with Nightly News as well. I don't trust Fox News, CNN or MSNBC...
Great job, wikileaks
this is just fear mongering
Wikileaks did the right thing
this is just fear mongering

So not going through it and wiping out names of innocent civilians is the totally right thing to do. :downs:
Renegade Points Achieved.
P.S. I would have congratulated them, if they hadn't rushed it out onto their site.
"Lose the war" how do you win a war? By having casualties? I think you forget the enemy here is ideology and religion, you can't eradicate that without genocide. This war is pointless. People don't die if you stop a pointless war.
Good on wikileaks.
Since when is the enemy here Islam, or even radical Islam?
The "enemy" are insurgents who kill soldiers and civilians. War just doesn't stop if NATO forces leave. It won't be the exact war we're seeing now, but that's just because it will evolve into ANOTHER Afghan civil war. Insurgents will still kill people and they'll still kill soldiers. Maybe not our people or our soldiers, but if the only people you care about are your own then you're an asshole.
That said, I support a calculated and beneficial withdrawal from the Middle East. I want out but I don't want us to damage our foreign relations with other countries in the Middle East who receive support when it comes to fighting insurgents (like Pakistan) and I'd like to see an Afghanistan that isn't a complete shithole politically someday. Maybe we aren't the ones who will provide that for them, or maybe they'll never achieve it. I certainly see us doing fucking nothing to reach that goal. But right now things are grim for Afghanistan and while ditching out immediately and unconditionally may free up some cash in the short term that we could use, we'll needlessly be causing a lot more deaths than we already have if we pull out without making at least some sort of arrangement. Whether that's developing the country's current government and military to a point to where it can stand on its own (easier said than done, considering the problems we're already facing when it comes to doing this), or making an arrangement with the Taliban to give them their country if they won't allow it to be a safe haven for terrorists (political and foreign relations suicide, also assumes that the Taliban's word/they "legal guarantee" they offered us are to be trusted), or whatever. Just leaving it to decay into civil war is an asshole move.
Also, Afghanistan isn't Vietnam. There are some similarities but for the most part the wars are pretty damn different. Wikileaks also gets the thumbs up from me. The things this leak revealed are important, and while whoever was in charge of screening for names should be fired immediately, what wikileaks did was right. Anyone who thinks that Assange should be personally held responsible for the actions of insurgents is a bit :downs:.

uh, they did
uh, they did
Then they suck at looking at them.
I think the US government is still to blame because they put the soldiers there in the first place.
