here's a newsflash they chose to ignore the request and deny that it happened
Quote for truth. Transparency can save lives, so can the government (With the files now completely out of their hands) can simply co-operate and screen the files. It's not about 'right or wrong' and 'the law', it's about protecting lives. The military has failed to protect lives when so many civilians have been killed, but hey, since when did we ever care about that, huh? You'know, the whole reason the documents have been released in the first place?
:colbert: [editline]10:09PM[/editline] Shut down WikiLeaks. Kill everyone involved in leaking of the classfied material. Send special forces teams to search and destroy the documents. End result is you save 1,000's of lives while sacrifing the stupid fucks who just harass, torture, rape, murder the innocent globally.
Except all of that is pretty unnecessary.
The Government could have helped to prevent the loss of lives caused by the documents, here's a newsflash they chose to ignore the request and deny that it happened
I wish I knew the facepalm emoticon. You're an idiot, of course the government isn't going to help, because those documents were stolen from them! And that is a half assed excuse on Wikileaks part! They should've known better! All your doing is blaming the government who was withholding the documents in the first fucking place you idiot! No one was in danger UNTIL WIKILEAKS GOT A HOLD OF THEM! /caps
I wish I knew the facepalm emoticon. You're an idiot, of course the government isn't going to help, because those documents were stolen from them!
The question is, why shouldn't they? They knew the documents were out of their hands, and going to be on a million computer screens. They could have co-operated on the part of national security, or to protect their valuable troops and agents. It would have been the more sensible move than "OMG you bastards" Also, Wikileaks DID NOT STEAL THE DOCUMENTS for god sake, they were GIVEN to them by somebody who works in the military. There is a HUGE difference.
The Government could have helped to prevent the loss of lives caused by the documents, here's a newsflash they chose to ignore the request and deny that it happened
Why would the government help someone release secret documents? That doesn't make any sense. Even if they did ask for help they didn't have to release the documents before they had a chance to be completely screened. That's just placing the blame on the wrong person here. They still chose to release the documents.

They are guilty of theft by association!
[01:43] <> Question that's been lingering in my mind for some time, why did wl release the documents with limited screening? Why not wait until all documents were screened and censored? [01:44] <polypoid> I don't know the answer to that - I don't know to which extent they were screened or which methods were employed, all I know is that the screening process took many months.

[01:42] <> Question that's been lingering in my mind for some time, why did wl release the documents with limited screening? Why not wait until all documents were screened and censored? [01:44] <Odin> I'm not aware of the precise reason, but I believe that was a result of a false assumption regarding the sanity of U.S. Army bookkeeping methods. [01:44] <Odin> WL is already swamped with work relating to the verification of documents; we simply do not have the manpower to sort through this information within a workable timeframe.
From Wikileaks chat.
From Wikileaks chat.
Show me from a source that isn't Wikileaks or the government.:colbert: At this point I don't trust either.
So they're blaming the government for the contents of documents that were never supposed to be released in the first place? They aren't taking any responsibility at all. The least they could have done was admit they fucked up. edited:
Show me from a source that isn't Wikileaks or the government.:colbert: At this point I don't trust either.
Also this.
Wikileaks has pretty clear intentions.
Wikileaks has pretty clear intentions.
To get a spot light? Also those chat lines if they were serious, only highlights how they rushed through it.
Yes, the Government would not help saving lives, that's just fucking retarded. :downs:
Hahaha if you really think that way I suppose you have a lot to learn.
To get a spot light?
no, to let the public know the truth they also released that Apache video a few months ago that clearly showed war crimes being committed
no, to let the public know the truth they also released that Apache video a few months ago that clearly showed war crimes being committed
They did it wrong then. This leak not the Apache leak which I thank them for. And I call bullshit on letting the public know the truth.:colbert: That sort of pseudo-journalism never existed. We can't even verify these documents, it could be an entire misinformation act by the Military.
They did it wrong then. This leak not the Apache leak which I thank them for.
what? both leaks are good
And I call bullshit on letting the public know the truth.:colbert:
uh, why? this is Wikileaks' whole purpose you know.. they've release tons of documents on a lot of topics. not just military stuff.
That sort of pseudo-journalism never existed. We can't even verify these documents, it could be an entire misinformation act by the Military.
read the documents for yourself then. and why would the military do that? they've already come out and condemned Wikileaks for releasing these.
And I call bullshit on letting the public know the truth.:colbert: That sort of pseudo-journalism never existed. We can't even verify these documents, it could be an entire misinformation act by the Military.
Oh boy. Nevermind guys, it's all a military conspiracy. :colbert:
Also isn't the government powerful enough to shut down the website or something?
That would be a breach of freedom of speech
Scratch the idea of the military, mainly because you guys seem to foget how they hid Area 51. :smug: "its a damn UFO" I wouldn't be surprised when the trial comes up some sort of hidden dirt appears and basically puts all these documents into question.
1. Taliban (aka. US Government) threatens to kill people in the wikileaks report. 2. USA makes wikileak illegal 3. Problem solved
Idiot, they have hundreds of servers all over the world.
bobste pumping out the platinum posts as usual [editline]04:31PM[/editline]
thanks man i appreciate your support
So they're blaming the government for the contents of documents that were never supposed to be released in the first place? They aren't taking any responsibility at all. The least they could have done was admit they fucked up.
No. They admit that there have been slipups on the screening due to the lack of manpower, though they have done their best to prevent them.
Hahaha if you really think that way I suppose you have a lot to learn.
WL requested US Government to help prevent slipups and hence help to minimize the possible casualties from the release, but they ignored and denied the request.
The next evening, Schmitt said, Assange replied in an email that WikiLeaks was withholding 15,000 documents for review. Schmitt said Assange wrote that WikiLeaks would consider recommendations made by the International Security Assistance Force "on the identification of innocents for this material if it is willing to provide reviewers." Schmitt said he forwarded the email to White House officials and Times editors.
Source
WL requested US Government to help prevent slipups and hence help to minimize the possible casualties from the release, but they ignored and denied the request.
There's no proof of this - the US Government also flatly denies it.
They weren't authorized to fucking have them. ITS STILL THEFT, the intelligence officer stole from where he works and handed them over to Wikileaks. They are guilty of theft by association!
But what about my main point. Why shouldn't they collaborate? They're not exactly terrorists.
There is proof that WL contacted the Government for help on cleaning it, they used a quote from the email on a press release or something, can't remember right now. It's in the linken's linken.
