Overfished and under-protected: Oceans on the brink of catastrophic collapse

poor fish. nature fucked them over from the beginning. we must begin the augmentations to fix god's mistakes.
Fishing can be sustainable. We just have to limit the number of fishermen and monitor fisheries internationally. It will take billions of dollars and the combined effort of every coastal nation on earth. Fishing can be sustainable, but it requires humanity to realize we have to work together on at least one thing. We all have to eat, we all eat fish, we all suffer from a dead ocean.

We either get our shit together and do this, or we don't. One nation, or even all of the first world nations having sustainable fishing is not going to do shit. This will be the first real test of global cooperation.

Sadly with out track record as a species I'm not all that confident in us.
WHICH IS PRETTY SHITTY.
I know, why don't we start a global fish farm? If we can farm chickens and cows, why not tuna and salmon?
You can make farms, sure. It's just the current method of doing so is still really experimental. Densely crowded pens leave your livestock living in their own filth, and causes hypoxic environments around the area of the farm. I believe it would have to be a closed water system, perhaps in giant tanks on land to work. Not to mention the time it takes to reach maturity for a tuna is quite some time.

he has spoken
get your shit together humanity
This needs to be stopped. It is necessary to cut back on fish, focus on fish farms in order to stabilize the population if possible and internationally monitoring. Otherwise it's going to be one hell of a mess.
But what can a single person do? Politicans will talk this to death while fishers keep killing our oceans, and at the end of the day everything will be going as usual because money.
It's so hopeless

How about changing one's individual lifestyle and protest in public? It's still better than saying "Na, I can't do something" and "I'll look like a fool.".
don't worry, free market will fix it

Maybe eat less seafood?
Fuck people
In any case, we can't change the outcome. Countries like China won't listen, and the individual fishermen even less.
But then, at some point, there'll be so few fishes in the seas that fishing is no longer a viable occupation anyways.
The remaining fishes will then either procreate, or get fully extinct because of too large competition by other species.
