if they did maybe they would have noticed the table of 11 dudes with muscles bulging out of their shirts
Not the kind that go after fast food restaurant / grocery store cash registers.
If this had happened in the UK, would our armed forces have been allowed to use firearms in this instance?
if armed military/ police were eating in a shop and armed robbers tried to steal from that shop, I doubt the police would be punished for firing on them.

No doubt, but there would definitely be an enquiry that cost the taxpayer at least £10 million.

So is the issue with the cost of enquiry or that there was an enquiry in the first place?

For what possible need would there be to scout a McDonalds
Sure it turned out terribly this time, but can you really tell me that McDonalds very often has soldiers/police/etc eating in them to stop possible criminals? :v:

Did not know McDonalds was a well known police stop for food and it was so common as to require a check before robbing.

In general, if you're a competent robber of any description - Fucking scope it out.
Has GTA V taught you nothing?!
GTA V taught me cops are psychic and their cars have a speed boost button.
Wouldn't armed robbery be a very big deal in France? Like, I can't imagind big armed heists happen there often. And all at a... McDonald's? Why not somewhere with more to get? I know petty criminals aren't very forward thinking, but jeez. How would you think you wouldn't get caught?
You'd be surprised at the amount of smuggled weapons you can find in some parts of the country.
firstly ; "counter terrorists win".
secondly; what shitty bad luck for those guys, ending up facing GIGN officers who were just grabbing some chow. At least they will have to face the consequences.

The two robbery suspects, both in their early 20s, were taken to a local hospital, according to news reports. Roux-Morizot told the Telegraph they face multiple charges, including armed robbery.
The special forces officers belong to the Groupe d’Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale, also known as the GIGN. The unit was created in the aftermath of the hostage situation at the 1972 Olympic games in Munich, when Israeli Olympians were held against their will and eventually killed.
