Guys it's April Fools, this is a joke article.
Everyone knows black people can't be successful.
hehehehehahahaHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHAHAHA
Don't worry about the grades, worry about where you wanna go in life and what's necessary to get there.
I literally couldn't do elementary level math without a calculator less than 2 years ago (life had been complicated).
I decided i'd have to "fix" myself math-wise before pursuing a STEM field career i wanted.
Now i'm getting A's and i'll be taking calculus in the summer.
Its ostensibly unimpressive, but knowing where i started, now i feel with enough determination, most people can do anything.
how hard is your college?
White supremacists are freaking out right now. I love those guys sometimes. They post charts that show whites as superior to blacks in test scores but hilariously never mention that Asians/Indians are generally beating them out.
it's not impressive at all, i know plenty of people with similar resumes.
i have no idea why this is news? plenty of people get accepted to ivy league schools, though i don't know many that apply to every single one because jesus those apps are fucking expensive.
I've got to say, I don't fully understand the news either. Usually if a person gets accepted into an ivy league school, he'd have a high chance of getting into another one as well, because they tend to look for the same things anyway.
This.
One of my friends got some scholarships given to him just for being black.
You mean like NAACP scholarships or something?
Wow, he really cares about his education. I got to give him that much.

It... costs money to just send an application? That's bloody retarded.
the article is actually about a black person finally getting an education
and the acceptance into every ivy league school is just a coincidence

White supremacists don't care about education.

If you're poor you can send applications for either free or for a price so low it might as well be free, I don't remember.
It... costs money to just send an application? That's bloody retarded.
It's to deter people from applying places they don't want to go to.
It's to deter people from applying places they don't want to go to.
It's so the universities can get extra cash.
they could charge 500 dollars an application fee and people would still pay.
My friend at my school actually got a 2400 and has a 4.0, does california youth symphony in first (or second? i can't recall) chair, lots of community service, extracurriculars, and spends at least two hours a day after school helping out in Robotics. Not to mention he's ace at piano too. Rejected from Stanford. That's ridiculous. I did hear, however, that Stanford likes to see you "focus" on something, i.e. don't be good at everything..
but rumors are that colleges have to fulfill a racial diversity quota. correct me if im wrong on that
Nope, the Supreme Court ruled several times on the use of AA in college admissions. In each instance they have specifically stated that racial quotas are unconstitutional because they violate the equal protection clause of the Fourteenth Amendment. However point systems and such are acceptable because they serve a "compelling interest" for the state by assisting historically underrepresented groups.
Regents of University of California v. Bakke (1978)
Grutter v. Bollinger (2003)
aww shit that was my HS
My school didn't even have 11 AP classes.
We had 2 at my school: calc and government.
This guy would be a fucking legend in my community for even doing half of this stuff, would get a plaque and a school named after him.
But no, it's because he's black.
Racist Joke
affirmative action is so fucking annoying
I mean like it's wonderful that he did so well in school and get to go to any school he wants, but his grades aren't THAT impressive.
Edit: Annoying for the fact that it's based off of race. This dude's family is super rich and is obviously a good place that encourages education.
The soon-to-be-valedictorian of my class is the president of the thespian troupe (which is pretty tough shit at our school) and the math club, active in several singing groups in the school, incredibly talented pianist, 1st in his class, full IB diploma, got a 2340 on his first try on the SAT and only got accepted to Dartmouth and Columbia - and got waitlisted at UChicago.
he's white though

I find it really interesting that american unis pretty much decide whom they want in a sense. Here most unis basically make an entrance exam (or something like the SAT test) coupled with your grades which gives you a direct point grade. There's no application letter, after school activities and the like. Feels kinda more objective.
I honestly don't understand how some students can take practically full AP courses while still finding time to do like 3 different sports and not have some sort of mental breakdown.
Seriously, I'm in all regulars classes and I'm lucky if I can do my homework long enough without catching myself staring at the wall for five hours.
The sheer amount of time management and dedication it must have taken for him to survive is incredible.
It's to deter people from applying places they don't want to go to.
Here we just have a limit of 5 places you can send your application to.

I'd like to know what school you went to where these grades aren't that impressive. Even the high school here in a UC town has a great reputation and tons of AP classes (as well as offering Chinese, Japanese, and German in addition to French and Spanish), and anyone here would say that's some impressive work.
that's not that impressive to be honest
still really cool for him though
e: I don't know why this is getting dumbed so hard, I know plenty of people who've done very similar
and pretty much anyone that gets in to an ivy league school is going to have done similar
the headline might as well be "ivy league schools are exclusive, who knew?"
april fools everybody

you'd be surprise how easy AP classes become once you get used to it
and once you're in college you'll be even more surprised how easy it is to just coast through and get credit hours you would have otherwise spent tens of thousands of dollars on and an insane amount of effort just to pass the course

They're extremely good grades, but if he was white there'd be no way he'd be accepted by EVERY ivy league school.
The reason that that was capitalized was to emphasize the fact that I was implying they weren't good enough to have an acceptance to literally every ivy league.

That's because his stats aren't uncommon among applicants to Ivy League schools. People who have attended any large to medium high school within the last four years or so have probably seen applicants with higher SATs, more AP classes, and higher rank.

Well I know a guy who is "good at everything" and he got in just fine.
