Free points! Shoot ninety dollar RPGs all day long, and watch as Iron Dome blasts them out of the sky with ninety thousand dollar interceptor rockets.
50,000$ interceptors are cheap compared to the damage a rocket can cause. The system also doesn't intercept a rocket if it's going to land outside a residential area. Plus, the laser interceptors couldn't handle the barrages of rockets Iron dome is currently handling- Only two batteries just took out 25 missiles out of the sky.

Wow I was never this good at Missile Command. These guys are pros.
Hamas' rockets aren't much more than big fireworks
Iron Dome is so effective it almost reminds me of a fireworks show. Almost hard to believe those missiles being shot out of the sky are incredibly deadly when Iron Dome makes them so harmless with such surgical precision.
Uh, why would you post your newfound opinion in a technical thread about a missile intercept system?
Because this thread helped me conclude my ideas.
If Iron Dome has any part of your reasoning... what a stupid reason to "conclude your ideas" with.
If Iron Dome has any part of your reasoning... what a stupid reason to "conclude your ideas" with.
It's due to the fact they far outmatch Hamas technologically and outmatch them in every way possible and yet Hamas still try fighting back even if they know it's very unlikely they'll win anything

I don't see why Iron Dome itself should take part in making a conclusion.
When I read Iron Dome, the Iron Curtain from Command and Conquer came to mind. I thought that they had some sort of gigantic shield projector, and then was slightly dissapointed when I read it was just a missile array.
Trolling would be more, "fuck Gaza, hope every missile gets shot down" since Facepunch is overwhelmingly against Israel.
Its not being against israel if your against both sides of a conflict. It's just more against Israel than the united states government and media who insist on orally pleasuring its testicles.
No. I haven't decided just because Israel is using advanced protection they're assholes. I've decided after all the people they've killed, all the houses they've destroyed, and all the land they claimed in the name of religion that's caused so much hate and problems in the Middle East that I have a strong disliking for Israel.
Damn, now I feel really bad about myself, so you're saying we should have no iron domes at all and go to work, go out to bars, raise a family and my kids will go to school while every day a few times I'll run for my life to shelter even when I am asleep? How inconsiderate of me to try live a regular every other country civilian life.. How about you live with me 12 years and suffer 12,000 rockets, you're missing out on all the fun!
Another driver of Iron Dome’s success could be as simple as Moore’s Law. It takes a lot of raw computing power to rapidly build a ballistic profile of a fast-incoming projectile, make a series of quick decisions concerning potential lethality, and launch a countermeasure capable of intercepting said projectile in-flight. One reason Iron Dome is showing a much more robust capability than the Patriot system did in the early 1990s could simply be the fact that its battle control hardware and software are several generations more advanced than those early interceptor systems.
This seems intuitively obvious I can't think of any other way it would improve so significantly and the article makes it sound like some intriguing, hard-to-think-of theory
