No those are Carousels!
merry-go-rounds have horses on them man.
What this guy said. Those things are called roundabouts.

That too. They're called carousels and merry-go-rounds.
Her hair got caught in the machinery
Machinery?
I always thought the center pole was on a bearing or something similar, didn't know it had some complicated machinery and shit goin on down there
ew, they didn't really need to say that her hair was caught in the machinery and pulled clumps of skin and hair out and fractured her skull. That made me cringe.
roundabout related injury is more than enough for my frail mind.
Whenever I hear injury stories I want to go sit on my bed and do nothing for a few hours. Also,
Machinery?
That
Maybe they are talking about a carousel then. Machinery ain't in no merry-go-rounds or roundabouts I been on.
God damn, that made me cringe.
When I was much younger, my neighbors had one, and my cousin managed to break his leg or something to that effect whilst on it.
Clearly, roundabouts have sworn an oath of violence on all children.
I wonder what Australia thinks of them.

That was sort of the entire story.
When I was but a wee lad my mom told me stories about kids who were careless around the merry go round and got PULLED under it as it spun. I used to imagine how it would look to see some kid twisted around under it.
Then in Jr High, some friends and I used to to go to the elementary school at night and spin each other as fast as possible on it, to try to fling each other off it(yeah sounds lame but when you're wasted it's hilarious).
Partially scalped! Damn, someone should have been watching out for her. Riding the merry go round is not kid's play, it's serious business.
When i read the thread i thought she was scalped while going in a round a bout.
Those things are a fucking nightmare.
I wonder what Australia thinks of them.
Australia doesnt care because it isnt in its country.
What fucking machinery? The plate is welded to a pole that sits in a sheath thingy buried underground with ball bearings to let it spin with minimal friction. There's not even a hole in the top for her hair to have fallen into. To have her hair get stuck in this thing she would have had to be under it and purposely shoved a handful at the axel.
Merry-go-rounds are the things with the horses and stuff :v:
Isn't that a Carousel?
Australia doesnt care because it isnt in its country.
But think of the children! What if these terrible instruments of torture are allowed to coexist with the innocent children!
Isn't that a Carousel?
Same thing different name
so where exactly did her hair get caught at?
Well, time to go to the park with all my long haired friends. :)
Around where I live it's:
Merry-go-round = Small spinning thing found on playgrounds.
Carousel = Horses and shit, most found in theme parks.
Roundabout = Road that goes in a circle and stuff.
I have nightmares of this.
This will be another retarded reason to remove them... ours was removed a few years back but its what made the park fun... Of course anything in a playground can be dangerous, climbing frames, swings, anything. But the fatality rate is very low and it should not be judged by a incident, the girl should have not been on there at 6, that's pretty young for something that older kids play on.
It's the parents fault.
Engineer update day 2, the scalping roundabout.
I once saw a kid fly into the air from one and then on the ground, luckily he just broke his nose.

Machinery?
it's tempered steel and peach-colored spraypaint.
I'm assuming that in this case a roundabout isn't the thing you drive through?
As I read the thread title I was picturing some horrific car crash, involving a round about... While this is better than what I was expecting, it's still bad. rated Heart.
Her hair got caught in the machinery, pulling her head so tightly that large chunks of her hair ripped out at the roots and her skull fractured,
Imagining this made me cringe.
