Let's ban cars because someone might run people over with one.
Cars and licenses are regulated (like the web store), precisely to avoid people getting hurt. Also this whole thing can be worked around by getting the dev version so it's really a non-issue.

It's completely silly to have to install the developer's version just to install custom extensions. There should be a simple option to allow for third-party extensions and, at most, a short waiver you have to agree to in order to allow it.
This is great news for my mum, she's always had trouble with malware extensions on Chrome and now I won't have to go uninstall them for her every few days (Because she keeps forgetting how to do it even though I show her every time).

My point was not that there are no better ways to handle it. My point was that comparing it to outright banning cars because someone might hit pedestrians is a ridiculous comparison.
(And also that it's not the end of the world and it can still be worked around fairly easily. Sure it might be possible to do it in a better way, but a lot of people are overreacting like crazy).
No more Youtube center :(
Unacceptable

This should really be an option tbh, have it ticked by default but allow the user to choose
As a firefox fan, I say good.

You're an asshat for being happy at the inconvenience of others.
Installing the dev version of Chrome cured this issue for me.
Course I shouldn't have to do that.

You shouldn't be though. Fandom usually leads to worse product compared to healthy competition.

Why would liking one browser and disliking another browser lead to a worse product? Be reasonable.
Good thing on Windows I use a browser that cares about its power users.

Just to clarify what seems to be impossible to understand, on the normal version of Chrome, in the extensions window:

If you can't click this, you really shouldn't be installing anything out of the webstore.
The thing is, we really shouldn't have to do that.
It's quite a few unnecessary steps, and every time you start Chrome you get an annoying notification about it.
A single setting, no unpacking things, and no shitty warnings that makes me think Google thinks everyone is an idiot should be how it is.

I don't care if it is real or not, that was some awesome reading material. Thanks for sharing.

Disliking is one thing, going "haha chrome is becoming bad, that's good for me even though it does not affect me at all" is retarded.
