It's weird to have montana in the news like this right after the reveal of far cry 5
Well the GOP is the definition of insanity right now
Seems fishy to me from both sides, We only have audio but no video or other witnesses.

Sometimes a cigar is just a cigar and there's no deep state conspiracy behind that cigar.

If only we had more evidence of the reporter being attacked than audio of the reporter being attacked.
I've been seeing his ads everywhere I go. They play like something that SNL would make.

I honestly can't tell if they're saying "Big Government" computer, using the GOP's favourite buzzword; or if it's it's calling the computer big to ratchet up the fear mongering. Either way it's hilarious.
More on-topic, the audio makes it sound like it's a question that's been biting the candidate's heels for a long while, so there's no surprise he'd fly off the handle like that and then blame the reporters, politicians seem really aggressive towards people asking questions following them around for good reasons.
All I hear from this, is that Ben Jacobs can't sell for shit. ''You just broke my glasses'' doesn't sell as well as ''BAH GAWD AS MY WITNESS, MY GLASSES ARE BROKEN IN HALF.''.
Even though I don't live in Montana*, a quick YouTube search shows that the Democrat in the race, Quist, actually made a pretty nice little response to this ad.
*To be fair, where I live (South Carolina) election season always brings hamfisted attack ads too.

So what's the context? It sounds like it was an interview that was going OK until a certain question was asked and then the reporter was assaulted.

I've gone down a rabbit hole of weird Montana political videos. I never knew Montana politics was so heated.
I love how they constantly tagline him as 'New Jersey millionaire'

I'm from New Jersey and I love the idea that being from my state is the epitome of evil for people from Montana apparently.

I don't know why anyone would trust him on that when steve fucking bullock has vetoed every pro-gun law that comes around his desk and still pretends he's pro-2A. 'Country' democrats love to make these ads and pretend they're pro-gun when in reality their support ends at the bolt-action hunting rifles their dad left them and the pistols their body guards are 'privileged' enough to carry.

"I'm pretty sure he's on top of me screaming for a second".. What? How are you "pretty sure" that somebody was on top of you, screaming? This seems a bit weird, obviously he was thrown to the ground but I wonder if he did anything to instigate. Either way it's obviously not acceptable to throw the guy around, but this story is a bit weird. What was he talking about, saying that the last guys did the same thing?
Quist also considers gun ownership “a way of life,” but backs restrictions on assault weapons.
“They’re only meant to kill people,” Quist told the Chronicle. “So maybe there should be some legislation to register those types of things.”
That ad is blatantly disingenuous when AR-15 style rifles are the most popular rifles in America.

- Humorously finding -
Before this, Donald Trump endorsed same guy in several hours ago.

It's kind of nice to see even FoxNews.com drawing the line on physical violence. They'll spin plausibly-deniable revelations of treasonous behaviour from Trump, but a Fox News journalist being an eyewitness to a GOP candidate assaulting a reporter goes beyond the pale.
That's comforting. We're not off the deep end, yet.
The cynic in me expects Fox's tune to change by morning as they decide the right narrative and hope to swing voters back over breakfast, but at least the first round of reporting isn't trying to cover up or spin an assault on a member of the press.
From the fox news article:
At that point, Gianforte grabbed Jacobs by the neck with both hands and slammed him into the ground behind him. Faith, Keith and I watched in disbelief as Gianforte then began punching the reporter. As Gianforte moved on top of Jacobs, he began yelling something to the effect of, "I'm sick and tired of this!"
Jacobs scrambled to his knees and said something about his glasses being broken. He asked Faith, Keith and myself for our names. In shock, we did not answer. Jacobs then said he wanted the police called and went to leave. Gianforte looked at the three of us and repeatedly apologized. At that point, I told him and Scanlon, who was now present, that we needed a moment. The men then left.
Good lord

If you read your quote he isn't saying he wants to ban them, but register them.
You can try making him look like a boogeyman all you want, but having your gun in a database isn't the same thing as 'muh gubment is tryin to steal muh guns!!'

I've been told on this forum just means that they'll try to enact more aggressive gun control down the line, although I've seen no concrete evidence of this.
I'm sick of mass shootings (which are a small part of overall gun deaths) but I'm also sick to death of gun control arguments.

Gun control arguments are just a way to avoid talking about more important issues. With just those two words half the political power in the country obscures its ceaseless efforts to take away from the working class.
That FOX News article is actually pretty damning. Especially since it's coming from FOX of all places. Of course since he's a politician the police let him go without an arrest, if you or I tried this shit we'd be in the back of a police car by the end of the night.
