How Kurd you say something like that?
They should make a Muslim sitcom that takes place in Pennsylvania. They can call it It's Always Sunni in Philadelphia.
I'd be fine with that :v:
I'd like to see a Hogan's Heroes type show set in Iraq with some hilariously incompetent Jihadis. It could be called Mohammed's Martyrs.
I love BBC News, unbiased as fuck
How I Met Your Martyr
8 Simple Rules For Paying My Teenage Daughter's Dowry
Everybody Loves Rasheed
Kurd Your Enthusiasm
Big Bang Theory
Why play it safe? Comedy pushes boundaries and there should be no exceptions.
I found the show quite amusing.
Another wrote that the content was "bigoted" and "offensive".
Unlike Islam which is renown for its liberalism and tolerance
It wasn't a very good show, but one joke was pretty awesome:
"They mentioned Pakistan 10 times on the news last night! ... twice is was good news!"
They deserve no more special treatment than anyone else.
Getting "offended" does not warrant you special privileges. Freedom of speech works both ways.

It's the BBC. They don't give a fuck.
Is 185 really even all that many? I mean comparable to the number of Muslims who are exposed to the show, or have heard of it?
It sounds like they're just making a big deal out of it because it's got to do with religion, I'm sure plenty of other shows rack up complaints for less interesting and "journalism" worthy reasons.

How is 185 complaints significant compared to the total viewer number?
Yeah, this is exactly it. TBH this really shouldn't be reported about in the first place. Almost every "comedy" show that comes out nowadays gets complaints of some nature, typically concerning social standard that the caller is offended by. More over, I really don't think these couple of complaints is really justification for the kinds of posts I've seen in this thread thinking all "Muslims" have become offended by this particular show or are prissy about it. Funny when we begin talking about other people like they aren't, you know, people, but some abstract blob.
I'm sure here in the States one can find plenty of folk complaining about shows to the FCC, be it because they feel like it offends their religion or customs, tasteless humor, "trashy", what ever. No need to highlight those and apply them to some collective thought to an entire community. Should I say all *insert people* act like this? These are some complaints about the Simpsons and South Park from 2003-2007:
Homer was asking Marge, his wife, why they took in this really annoying older mooch named Gil. She responded
nicely saying, "Christian charity, I guess."; And Homer whined and yelled back, "What does a porn star have to do
with anything?!!?"; Extremely offensive to Christians, disgusting actually. combining the two complete opposite
worlds in one sentence. I am appalled by that show anyways ,but now I'm even more anti-Sim sons.

Dear Sir:
I wish to voice my disgust with the 'cartoon' Southpark that was aired on the evening of
Wednesday, August 10~ 2005. This episode depicted children 'milking' a male dog. I
cannot believe such filth is allowed to be aired.
How and what can I do to get this type of gross and disgusting programming off the air?
It seems to me that kids have a hard enough time growing up and they certainly don't
need this type of disgusting programming influencing them. It is no wonder moral
standards have hit bottom with this type of filth on television for children to see.
I look forward to hearing from you regarding this matter.
Sincerely,
It is extremely disappointing to learn that Fox is continuing to support dangerous
program such as South Park which Christians find offensive. Your actions have a major
negative impact to the culture of this republic. ,..
FOX has gotten to where they show those animated shows like Family Guy and The Simpsons. They think that
parents are not listening to these programs just because they are animated. They are not the old time cartoons and
I don't like the language.. .it is really disgusting. These programs show disrespect to parents from their children, so
in turn, my child tries to disrespect me. There are others that I just don't know the names of right now. I try to put
on parental restrictions, but it doesn't always work. I would like to see these shows either changed up to show
respect to parents and cut the filthy language or just taken oft the air totally. My child hears enough foul language
at school and outside of hom, he doesn't need to hear it from TV, radio, etc. too!!!!!!!
(There's also some wtf stuff in there like some guy claiming two kids came up to him, a 60 year old + male, and asked to have sex with him because Chef told them to)
Let's look at the bright side, the people aren't claiming that it promotes terrorism or something stupid.

okay let me get this straight
BBC used to show people getting hanged on air all the time?
I love how they jump to the conclusion that the show depicts a religion and not an ethnic background, or race.
How come The Kumars at No. 42 never got any complaints? I think that out of the two, The Kumars is more offensive.
Reminds me of the South Park episode regarding Muslims and every celebrity that the kids have ever made fun of. The celebrities wanted to capture Muhammad so they could extract his ability to not be ridiculed.
SHow's writers got an incredible amount of death threats for that one.
They even took down the ability to stream the episodes online as well, unless you get the physical disk or torrent it there's no way to watch it. People take shit way too seriously these days.
Quite relevent.

By god that's the best Cleese impression ever.
Cleese himself has said both Python AND Fawlty Towers were complained about and criticised to death when they first came out. It took till the re-runs of series 1 for the complaints to stop. He pointed out that if something is offensive it IS funny because it's not something we talk about being exposed in a hilarious light, some people are more sensitive than others and don't find it funny.

It's a comedy show. It's funny.

Also you can ignore people that complain in England. We barley complain over anything apart from TV. Thousands of complaints were launched when an animated Graham Norton appeared at the end of Doctor Who. 5000 people complained about Fearne Cotton hosting the Jubilee Boat parade thing. Like it mattered.

But you see, that was all part of the show. you could tell it was one big troll (minus the death threats, that was legit) when they got to the end where the kids tell what they've learned, and they censored the entire thing. It was one massive, long -BLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEP- for like 5 minutes. They took it down to get the hype up about it. Genius really.
how many of the callers were even muslims? somehow i think most of them were just people who were bored and lonely, like all people who call to complain to the BBC.
It's just some extreme muslims bitching about how islam is potrayed in the program. If you don't like the program, don't watch it.
It's not like it's only muslims that get made fun of or something

It's a Canadian TV series?
But yeah, it was probably the most successful home-produced program CTV ever aired. Was pretty good.

I wouldn't be surprised if they had received complaints. Maybe it's just because I remember that show being funny, and the Kumars weren't Muslim I'm pretty sure.

No but people in the comments are saying BBC used to do this all the time but was more graphic.
And I don't get how this is funny?

Please tell me you have a source for that.

It was actually a pretty decent show, but it got kind of drama-filled and boring.
Then a store could be named, "Stones'R Us"

There can be a furniture store and part of the commercial they scream WE ARE BLOWING UP PRICES before explosions touch off.
"There is nothing funny about being muslim! Cease this mockery or prepare to face jihad, infidels."
You just know that the majority of people who send in complaints are miserable old buggers who sit in their armchair all day, with their dressing gown on, reading the Daily Mail and eating Werther's Originals.
