I could make that with pieces from a $7 set holy fuck.
Which is why I think the idea would work a lot better with a ton of one module (one quarter of that) kits that cost a lot less, and each has some special feature (mob(s), a building, a special block, etc.) that makes them worth getting. They could even package the parts in little plastic minecraft chests/blocks to make it look nicer.

This set's partcount: 480.
Usual partcount of a £7 set: 100.
Yeah. Sure. Whatever you say.
That thing doesn't even look like anything. Almost like some randomly stacked blocks.

Again, the used the smallest possible lego brick in their inventory to make this set out of.

Actually, it's predominately 1x2x1 brick. Even so, it comes out eighty parts better than the next largest ~£35 set.

Real talk, I used to build huge castles with legos then I would stick a M90 or two in there and watch it blow up...
If you guys wonder about the price, i think its because it costs money for the ABS plastic, and to keep track of their molds

how dare you... you lego abuser
€20 says I could go to the designer program and build the same exact set for much cheaper and have it sent to me.
what the fuck
any fan of legos will have enough pieces available to them that they wouldn't even need to buy this
Seems kind of cool. Then again to every man in the world, Legos are fucking awesome
had a dream last night a giant lego person destroyed my city. woke up and remembered how random life sized legos had turned up in random places before.
theyre onto us man...
Besides the creeper and Steve there's nothing unique about the set.
Next thing you know, Traveller's Tales release Lego Minecraft.
I like how you guys think that Notch, who isn't related to minecraft in any way right now, set the price for this.
It should be like this, except cubes:

I hope it is a prototype and the official minecraft lego will look like this.

ok first of all this is a lego CUUSOO set which means that this was voted by the community, this isnt a money printing scheme done by notch. the autist part of the minecraft community wanted this shit so they made lego do it.
second thing, this set has 480 pieces and $50-ish for a 480 piece set is normal for lego (they price by piece not physical size)
third thing, you are obviously REQUIRED to buy this thing no exceptions, pay up or die
bonus picture so you can get more mad:

that would be ridiculously expensive to produce
it's a really awesome idea, but overpriced as fuck and way too small.

THOSE were the days!

In terms of development yes, but he is still running Mojang so it is safe to assume he negotiated talks about Lego branding his game.
Not to mention he is in the Ad for the release.
And to say he is not related to Minecraft in anyway as of now is the dumbest thing I heard. HE WORKS IN THE SAME ROOM WITH JEBS EVERYDAY.
Atleast when he's not on vacation ofcourse.
I would possibly buy one as something to have on my desk if it wasn't so FUCKING expensive.

Pick-a-brick says that you're gonna be payin' ~£45 for the same sort of parts and in the same quantity.
oh god mega64 predicted this
£34.99
Bought skyrim instead.
I signed the petition for LEGO Minecraft sets since it was just a "concept" but miniature scale? For £35? Fuck that shit.

fuck what? that is a typical price for a lego set of that size. it's clear that you're not a lego hobbyist, otherwise you would know that. so I don't know why you would be angry in the first place
What's so hard about making it fucking mini-fig size? That scale would be perfect, especially for the size of the set you're being given. Jesus, could they've have fucked this up any more?

I'm gonna ignore the rest of your post out of apathy, but to answer your question:
Midiscale.

I used to hate these blocks as a kid. Trying to build a tower and I have one block with an eye on it.

I have never had a Facepunch post make me nostalgia that much.
Some guy mentioned this earlier, but screw legos, little magnetic cubes would have been much cooler. Then you can suspend bricks to the sides of other bricks and build cliffs. The prices will probably be pretty scary though.
If you want 30$ Minecraft, get this instead:
