You say that as unemployment is double in brazil. Brazil has way worse crime problems, such as 5 times the homicide rate, has greatly inferior education, a shorter life expectancy, more than three times the deaths per 1000 births.
It's not rosy in Cuba, but you can't really say that you turned out way better lol.
Its really sad that there are so many Brazilian children running in the streets, joining gangs and doing drugs before they even reach puberty, instead of getting an education so they can better themselves and their world.
It's really sad that FDR died so early, it was really looking like the US could have had at least cordial relations with the USSR and later on countries like Cuba and China had he not died so early and hadn't been give Truman as a VP.
That's delusional. Stalin and his successors were imperialists who leached off smaller nations to keep their "socialist republic" going.
He took his sweet time, didn't he?
Fidel, tirano, llévate a tu hermano.
We were emerging until the past few years when Dilma got back with the far-left populist policies. I mean yeah you could say we have a lot of inequality which is true, but what's the point of being equal like Cuba where the people are mostly equally poor?
You can look at the cool numbers all you want and say socialism is great but if you won't bother reading up on regional economies you don't really know what causes our inequality problems lol
ooh boy you get to enjoy exploitation while participating in a global economic system that is rapidly cannibalizing itself and the world rather than enjoying meaningful measures like health, education, and freedom (in some aspects. Cuba is VERY lacking in others.)
That's delusional. Stalin and his successors were imperialists who leached off smaller nations to keep their "socialist republic" going.
I'm not a stalinist so I agree that they were imperialist ( tho it's hard for me to decide whether they're more or less imperialist than the US.) But tu quoque, it's how the US works as well, so butting heads would happen eventually I guess. Perhaps the peace wouldn't have lasted terribly long, but we would have at least made it out of world war 2 without having great tension already.
I never really liked Castro, but his ideals will inspire generations to come.
RIP
Ah, of course! It's very sad to see that North America and Europe are both miserably failing with their capitalism while China, Cuba and North Korea are rising as the new overlords of the world.
China is pretty powerful.
But china is as capitalist as you can get and Cuba is state capitalism.
What's your point?

I don't recall the US annexing any nations.
Ah, of course! It's very sad to see that North America and Europe are both miserably failing with their capitalism while China, Cuba and North Korea are rising as the new overlords of the world.
Note the cannibalizing itself bit. North America and Europe's conditions won't last off the exploitation of the third world and the worlds resources forever.
Also North Korea is nowhere near socialist, China (IIRC) and Cuba have aspects of it.
I don't recall the US annexing any nations.
US likes to do it indirectly with coups, placing collaborative governments in, propping up dictatorships (we even fucking backed pol pot for a time!), and so-on.
Also have you noticed the native americans, and hawaii?
He's getting cremated today, which is a damn shame. Of course, he's not exactly as young as Lenin was when he died, so preserving him would be a little pointless.

I was actually thinking about writing him a letter recently, as odd as that sounds. Of course it probably wouldn't have reached him, but I always wanted to meet someone as historical as Castro.
I guess those hopes are completely dashed.
I will be quite honest, I would give a lot just to meet up and talk with Fidel and Che Guevara. They had such insane personalities, and Che Guevara's charisma is legendary.
The CIA had decades to assassinate him and failed.
Trump got elected and all it took was a few weeks for Castro to pass.
say goodnight you commie bastard
Rest in piece you tough guy.
No matter how many times he survived a lot of assassination attempt,he will die of old age,for its only matter of time before death claim his soul.
I guess time finally managed what the CIA never could.
Goodbye you little shit
Does this mean that the American - Cuban thaw can kick up a gear now?
Not sad that he is gone, I'm only sad that the American strategy of isolating Cuba didn't work and left it relatively unopposed so that Castro could continue his policies.

Trump will make our relations with Cuba worse because he's from a generation taught to hate without thinking. He won't change his opinion of the country despite it being run by a completely different group of people now.

And so will condemn Cuba to be still isolationist and thus still Communist and unfree.
Fuck.
Nah, it's the british queen you have to worry about
Us Brits are just like the droids in Star Wars. When the Queen dies, we would all just shut down.
Now that he's dead, the USA not longer has an excuse not for giving up the embargo once for all, and let the country flourish. They managed to keep themselves alive during all this time, so without it things should be better*
*unless the transition into capitalism is done radically like with Russia. Then it would be a catastrophe.
See you in hell

I don't recall the US annexing any nations.
What about that time they annexed Texas and started a war with Mexico?
he's just making a quick stop there to kick reagan's ass before moving up to heaven
The other way around if anything, Reagan still has a score to settle and will personally descend down from the pearly gates to give him an ass-kick for the road to commie hell
His goverment was one of the very few able to survive the United State interventions in Central and South America, that is one hell of an achievement.
Let's see how time and history judge his life, goverment and impact in the continent.
Ok I have literally no clue who this is, never heard of him before.
What did he do that everyone knows him and why is his death such a massive thing in the media?
What about that time they annexed Texas and started a war with Mexico?
I meant within in living memory
Note I didn't criticise the Russians for the actions of the long dead Tsars. We were discussing it within the context of the Soviet Union.

Communist revolutionary in a nation that was less than 100 miles from the coast of the USA, and managed to not get microfucked by interference typical for the era this entire time (though it has been embargoed for decades). As you can imagine, he was a pivotal fellow during the Cold War
[editline]26th November 2016[/editline]
Wait fuck it was actually around 100 miles. Still fucken close

If you're still confused, he fought alongside Che Guevara, I'm sure you've seen his face before.

Who by the way is the no.1 nomination for the "literally, totally seriously worse than hitler" award. Had this guy come to greater power, oh boy would latin america be in trouble. Even Castro kept him around only because he became an icon of the revolution.

Pretty sure any history class in the past decade or more would tell you who Castro is.
