So you're shallow and hate gays because some gays flaunt it? You're a genius. :downs:
No, I hate the gays that do flaunt it. Brilliant strawman argument you've got there.
I agree.
I'm religious, but I do believe we aren't the ones to judge (any knowledgeable religist would know we're told to NOT judge). However, when gays openly flaunt their lifestyle just to serve as a mockery, boasting, or acting like they're high-and-mighty, that's when things go too far. They should think of the other people, not just their own rights, but the rights of others.
You have no right to be unoffended. Part of America's constitution is the right to offend others' beliefs without fear of oppression for said beliefs.
Also, how about we not allow blacks and whites to marry? It was a law not to long ago, so why not reinforce it? I mean, sure they can love each other all they want, but so long as they keep it private, no one gets hurt, right? Shame on them for flaunting their lifestyle choices.
No, I hate the gays that do flaunt it. Brilliant strawman argument you've got there.
I'm late to the party, and I see posts that state to that extent, sorry for not back reading to discover your point.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LGBT_events#North_America
Rubbing it into everyones faces and wanting them to suddenly accept it doesn't really work.
I'm not a homophobe. Gays can have all the equality they want for all I care.
So all the black activism was totally wrong and failed right? I'm sure if they were just quiet about it would have happened faster.
Good job at missing the point. I'd expect no less from a furry, as this argument applies to you just as much as it does to flamboyant homosexuals.
When you run around making sure everyone knows about your sexual preferences or fetishes by flaunting that shit, people are going to get annoyed and pissed off. It's fine if you have a sexual interest that differs from the norm, it's not fine that you feel the need to run around and make sure everyone knows. It just makes it seem like you're a fucking attention whore.
That's why people hate furries. Anybody who labels themselves as a furry is an idiot. Are you turned on by anthropomorphic animals? Alright, that's a bit weird, but okay. But why the fuck do you feel the need to use a furry avatar? Nobody wants to see that; it's not necessary.
It gets even worse when you're a furry who doesn't actually share the fetish.
"I just want to live my life as a purple anthropomorphic horse trapped within a human!!! But I'm not in to the porn, ick, that's so weird and gross!"
I just equate these people to weeaboos and wannabe gangsters.
And just for the record, people who gloat about how they fucked a chick can also be grouped in with these sorts of people. It's attention-whoring.
Uhm, this is about gays, not furries. How is this even an opportunity to spew your anti-fur propaganda? :psyduck:
That's a horrible comparison.
You're comparing a consensual act between to adult men to an illegal action which is basically rape.
You're right, I could've picked a better comparison. I was only trying to get across the fact that people flaunting their sexuality in public when they're fully aware that the majority of people are not share that sexuality.
Is it unfair? Absolutely. But I think it's human nature for people to feel uncomfortable around things that they view as strange, and being gay is a thing many people view as strange.
Uhm, this is about gays, not furries.
No, it's about attention whores.
Many others don't view being gay as strange.
You're right, I could've picked a better comparison. I was only trying to get across the fact that people flaunting their sexuality in public when they're fully aware that the majority of people are not share that sexuality.

And when those black people were seen all over Africa it was only human nature to treat them as strange and thus inferior and undeserving of the rights bestowed upon civilized man.

Ever heard about Ghandi and how he freed India by not being a total dick?
That comment was addressed to gordy

I'm p. sure the thread title is "Steve King: Gays Shouldn't "Flaunt It" If They Don't Want To Suffer From Discrimination"
but you know, I could be wrong.
Ever heard about Ghandi and how he freed India by not being a total dick?
But he sure as hell flaunted the fact that he wasn't "being a total dick".
In fact, he was "more of a total dick" because several protests organized by him and the people he represented were nonviolent but incredibly disruptive to the majority of society.
Just because you saw the movie at school does not make you an authority on his practices.
[editline]10:41PM[/editline]
Wait, how does Gandhi's belief of nonviolent protest even remotely relate to the gay activism? Where is it in the news that the gays are using violent methods of protest? I haven't heard of any bombings, vandalism, churches burned, republicans harmed, or anything of the such.
Many others don't view being gay as strange.
I'm not saying that everyone views it as strange, simply that ALOT of people do. Mainly people who don't know many gay people.
And when those black people were seen all over Africa it was only human nature to treat them as strange and thus inferior and undeserving of the rights bestowed upon civilized man.
That point made literally no sense, as blacks weren't looked down upon as inferior until long after they had been enslaved.

Uh, yes they were? People of color were inferior and strange the instant the Europeans came across them. They were uncivilized savages and treated much as the European discoverers and eventually the American expansionists treated the natives in what became America.

Do you honestly think those gay parades do anything to clean up the fucked up image people have on gays?
A gay parade in Rio de Janeiro:

It's a far-fetched comparison I'll give you that.
Uh, yes they were? People of color were inferior and strange the instant the Europeans came across them. They were uncivilized savages and treated much as the European discoverers and eventually the American expansionists treated the natives in what became America.
... No, they weren't. There was virtually no recorded racism between the Spanish/Moors and the Romans/Egyptians despite that that they were enemies and of different skin color. Racism didn't get big until the slave trade started and the idea that White Europeans were superior started getting into peoples heads.
The Spanish and the Moors and the Romans and the Egyptians were not far from each other technologically, or on a societal level. There was still something that kept the other from being completely alien. That can hardly compare to European ships landing in a land where people hardly wore clothing except for ceremonial or rank-based reasons and lived in homes made from animal skin or straw woven around branches.
I agree with him TBH. Before i'm accused of being homophobic; i'm a homosexual myself. But i don't act 'gay' so to speak.
Being gay isn't a package deal with flamboyancy and shit. Being gay is a sexuality; not a personality programmed into you. Gays who are flamboyant and stereotypical aren't like that because they're gay - they're like it because they're douchebags, or they often had heterosexuality imposed on them thoroughly in their earlier life when they were younger (but old enough to know their sexuality) so this is like a defensive mechanism.
I'm not saying it's wrong to be proud of your sexuality (gay or straight), or you should be forced to be in the closet, or you shouldn't even go out of your way to look more attractive (With the acception of dying your hair pink and wearing female headbands and shit like that, that deeply implies you're gay). - But it's not black and white like staticman acts in the first page. It's not 'be flamboyant and tell everyone you're gay' or 'be in the closet'. Just don't constantly bring it up, or imply it and shit, because people (mostly hetero males) feel imposed by it, and that's going to get the shit beaten out of you. Constantly is the keyword, its perfectly okay to bring it up in conversation every now and then, just not constantly.
You can't go around saying 'i'm normal i'm normal' and then act completely abnormal.
Yea, I REALLY don't like people who take every chance to flaunt their sexuality.
If you don't want others to make a big deal out of it, how about YOU don't?
When was the last time you got a beer bottle thrown at you for being straight?
I wanna fucking know.
No, fuck you all. If you are straight, you have the option of just floating along, accepting everything your friends dictate as normal and masculine, with no one thinking differently of you. You have no idea what it's like to live in a society where you are a second class citizen, who's exempt from being a man, all because of who you love. More than just who you love: what you dress like, what you do in your spare time, your hair, how you talk, how you walk, who you talk to, what you watch, what you listen to, your hobbies, your interests, your crushes and love interests: it all labels you as a faggot. You have no choice but to flaunt it; walking in the fucking mall is "flaunting" it. Don't give me any of that don't flaunt it bullshit; black people get to be as proud as they want of their culture, fuck, they even get their own college degree course, but fags need to stay in the shadows because they're weird. Awesome, there are annoying gay people. Guess what, there are annoying straight people. I'm not trying to shove it in your face, but I'm not going to sit in the shadows and pretend I'm someone I'm not. No, I'll be whoever I wanna be, I'm going to stand up for what I believe in, I'm going to fight for my rights. I'm labeled as a flaming faggot, and I have more balls than you, Mike Huckabee, Steve King, and any of you other redneck fuckers. I have the courage to break the mold and live a little, I don't go around caring what other people think of me.
ALSO, this just came to my mind: how many of you talk about hot chicks with other guys? How many of you brag about getting some, how many of you talk about girls like they are some sort of sex toy? What about those guys who have pictures of hot chicks on their t-shirts? How many straight people wear their sexuality on their sleeve? It does exist, you just don't realize it because it's normal. If I talked about my sexual experiences, I'd either get everyone going "EEEWWW" or someone would tell me to shut up.
I don't know where this whole gay stereotype comes from. Gay is not a lifestyle, it's a sexuality. I don't know why the hell there is the whole "gay voice and behaviour" stereotype. Liking dick suddenly doesn't change your voice and behaviour like that.
Ugh haven't read a thing beyond page 1 in this thread but the fact that post #2 has 87 agrees...you're a bunch of sheltered bumpkin homophobic kids absolutely nothing more
I'M RATIONAL AND ACCEPTING
BUT ONLY IF YOU ACT LIKE ME :derp:

Sadly, that's the way much of FP thinks.
usual homophobic FP shit:
- "I'm okay with gays as long as they don't hit on me" ---> this doesn't happen
- "Why do they need a parade? They've pretty much achieved equality" ---> no they haven't (anywhere)

- "If they want acceptance, they shouldn't be giving themselves a bad name by flaunting their sexuality with obnoxious parades!" ---> petty "my way or the highway" mentality
[editline]05:22AM[/editline]
I'm Bi-sexual and flaunting Homos AND flaunting Heteros are the most annoying shit I ever seen.
The difference is that the flaunting flaming Homo is typically protected and defended as a minority. You want fucking equality? Act normal, no one knows I'm Bi and even my best friends don't think I'm Bi, it isn't hard to act normal and to not act like you have to tell everyone you like dicks by some stupid flaunting attention whoring fashion.
What do you think gay pride parades are? A bunch of naked gay guys going around like freaks, this fucking freaks people out and I can't blame them, THIS IS THE IMAGE YOUR PEOPLE ARE REPRESENTING,
That doesn't look remotely normal to me in any way, and it's not like this is just one gay pride rally or one group of people, there is crazy gays at gay pride parades all the time.
"Look at me I'm as childishly unaccepting as a common homophobe but if I assert my own bisexuality i'll seem credible." Watch out guys if you dont fit doommarine's idea of normal you're a FREAK :ohdear:
BE NORMAL BECAUSE GOD KNOWS NOTHING IS MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE ACCEPTANCE OF DOOMMARINE AND HIS PEERS :patriot:
"Then why is it okay to flaunt your heterosexuality? IE: talking about what chick you banged last night or w/e."
That also isn't flaunting, that's trying to impress your peers.
same thing
usual homophobic FP shit:

same thing
Talking about who you banged isn't flaunting it imo, unless you're doing it in a manner as to impose your sexuality upon someone else. Flaunting your sexuality =/= flaunting that you got laid.
I am surprised just how stupid and bigoted most of FP is. Saying they shouldn't "flaunt it" is like saying black people should use make-up to cover their skin.
He has a point, seemingly not a well thought out one but a point nonetheless, it's like furries if they didn't set their avatars to their fursona no one would know or care that they get off to anthropomorphised animals.
I am surprised just how stupid and bigoted most of FP is. Saying they shouldn't "flaunt it" is like saying black people should use make-up to cover their skin.
No, it's really not. As i've said, it isn't black and white (no pun intended), it's not 'be flamboyant and tell everyone you're gay' or 'tell nobody you're gay and act manly hurr'.
Saying don't flaunt it doesn't mean you shouldn't tell people or shit, it doesn't mean you shouldn't tell anyone you're gay, it doesn't mean don't bring it up in conversation and don't mention it.
It means you shouldn't overdo it, in simple terms. Even wearing a rainbow wristband or t shirt is fine; just don't be obnoxious about it.
