if they teach the bible then they have to teach all other religions too and they shouldn't be biased
There are some sensible people in Texas. We're not all retarded. Most of us. But not all.
You're not helping your case at all. Maybe you should quit while you are ahead. [editline]01:29PM[/editline]
Well people worship me, so i preach the teachings of the zen master breen. Sex for all!
It's true. People in the Civil Protection get some.
This is my view of republic christians.
Yes believe what you want, you'll get yours in the end.
I went to a Christian school that was fairly worldly. In our mandatory religion Class, we had to learn about Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam and Agnosticism as well as Atheism. We also went on field trips to a Jewish Temple, a mosque and a Hindu Temple. If they're going to teach how religion influenced modern life, I think they should do it the same way as my old school did. FYI, I'm agnostic.
You're not helping your case at all. Maybe you should quit while you are ahead.
I never knew that I had a case lol. I'm not arguing with anyone.
The bible has effected our laws a lot. Thou shall not kill could not have been thought of without the help of our trusty bible. :v:
... wha? Without the bible I am sure we would have made a law that said do not kill...
if they teach the bible then they have to teach all other religions too and they shouldn't be biased
Read the OP. Not all religions had a profound impact on modern day
... wha? Without the bible I am sure we would have made a law that said do not kill...
Notice the :v: smiley at the end of his sentence.
The entire development of the mid-western to western part of the united states. Settlers believed that god wanted them to settle the ground
No they didn't. Who the fuck told you that? [editline]01:37PM[/editline] Settlers came here for a chance to make an agricultural fortune with low taxation. [editline]01:38PM[/editline] The Puritans were only an EXTREMELY small portion of the population and they were GONE by the time the revolution came around
No they didn't. Who the fuck told you that? [editline]01:37PM[/editline] Settlers came here for a chance to make an agricultural fortune with low taxation.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest_Destiny Some believed that God had given them the right.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifest_Destiny Some believed that God had given them the right.
1830-90 ideology that was quickly dismissed by most leaders under the pretense that it's fucking crazy. The US didn't even enter the world scene until WWII, and that wasn't because of Manifest Destiny.
FYI, I'm agnostic.
Pussy version of atheism.
Shit it even says there a lot of the proponents came to regret it later
Wait what Are you using alts or is someone stealing your avitar. It seems like the latter.
Wait what
"John Quincy Adams, painted above in 1816 by Charles Robert Leslie, was an early proponent of continentalism. Late in life he came to regret his role in helping U.S. slavery to expand, and became a leading opponent of the annexation of Texas."
Like what What impact has it had on western civilization
Your kidding right? You could right a book on that subject alone.
1830-90 ideology that was quickly dismissed by most leaders under the pretense that it's fucking crazy. The US didn't even enter the world scene until WWII, and that wasn't because of Manifest Destiny.
That doesn't change the fact that it happened.
"John Quincy Adams, painted above in 1816 by Charles Robert Leslie, was an early proponent of continentalism. More blood has been spilled in the name of religion than any other confrontation in the history of mankind.
That doesn't change the fact that it happened.
And its impact on western civilization is 0 given they were never really taken seriously. That's like saying Westboro is an important American institution.
more blood has been spilled in the name of religion than any other confrontation in the history of mankind.
ww2
Your kidding right? You could right a book on that subject alone.
Please right a book, that book is way too left. If you can WRITE a book on it, write a paragraph. Should be easy.
Separation of Church and State is a law though.
ww2
Over time. And what he said. VV
ww2
Hitler, after a mustard gas attack in WWI, believed he received a God-Given mission to save Mother Germany. The gas attack gave him a hallucinotory vision of God.
And its impact on western civilization is 0 given they were never really taken seriously. That's like saying Westboro is an important American institution.
Hell yes it was taken seriously! They went over and annexed the land in the name of their god! They took it seriously, and actually went on with it! [editline]05:46PM[/editline]
Hitler, after a mustard gas attack in WWI, believed he received a God-Given mission to save Mother Germany.
Godwins Law [editline]05:46PM[/editline]
Separation of Church and State is a law though.
This is exactly what i'm saying.
I think that people are taking this way out of context. The purpose of the classes is to teach how the Bible, as a work of literature, affected the world. It's not supposed to be a brainwashing activity.
Then why do we have a class for just the piece of literature that is the Bible? I think it would only be fair if they taught the Qu'ran and the Torah as well.
Godwins Law
No one was compared to Hitler.
Because the bible had the biggest impact. If you ask anyone, I'll bet most of them have no idea what the Gu'ran or the Torah is!
Hell yes it was taken seriously! They went over and annexed the land in the name of their god! They took it seriously, and actually went on with it!
They annexed land under the pretense to get soldiers, but there were fairly obvious logistical and rational reasons that were clanking away behind the scenes.
Godwins Law
You brought up WWII. What the fuck, am I supposed to NOT mention Hitler when talking about the fucking guy who STARTED the war? [editline]01:48PM[/editline]
Because the bible had the biggest impact. If you ask anyone, I'll bet most of them have no idea what the Gu'ran or the Torah is!
Certainly you can name one rational impact it has had on our society and government
