Because the bible had the biggest impact. If you ask anyone, I'll bet most of them have no idea what the Gu'ran or the Torah is!
I think that they all had a large impact, I'm not sure which one would've had the largest impact.
No one was compared to Hitler.
I compared Hitler to Hitler
They annexed land under the pretense to get soldiers, but there were fairly obvious logistical and rational reasons that were clanking away behind the scenes. You brought up WWII. What the fuck, am I supposed to NOT mention Hitler when talking about the fucking guy who STARTED the war? [editline]01:48PM[/editline] Certainly you can name one rational impact it has had on our society and government
Nobody EVER said it was a rational impact. Just that it was an impact. Was The holocaust a rational impact? No, It was a gigantic impact, though
Because the bible had the biggest impact. If you ask anyone, I'll bet most of them have no idea what the Gu'ran or the Torah is!
Legitimate historical contributions are not decided by the masses. Reality is not a democracy.
I compared Hitler to Hitler
How dare you?
Oops, i just compared the bible to the holocaust :/ Oh well, shit happens
Nobody EVER said it was a rational impact. Just that it was an impact. Was The holocaust a rational impact? No, It was a gigantic impact, though
No, we're talking about Christianity specifically. I want to know why it is so much more important than every other religion.
I think that they all had a bad impact, I'm not sure which one would've had the most negative impact.
Fixed.
Oops, i just compared the bible to the holocaust :/ Oh well, shit happens
something like that [editline]01:50PM[/editline]
Fixed.
Good in the sense of "good and large". Didn't literally mean "good" as in "morally correct". Lemme go fix that. Stupid local wording.
No, we're talking about Christianity specifically. I want to know why it is so much more important than every other religion.
Oh, I see, this is just another chance for all of FP to gang up on christians
Oh, I see, this is just another chance for all of FP to gang up on christians
:downs:
No, we're talking about Christianity specifically. I want to know why it is so much more important than every other religion.
Why is the theory of evolution so much more important than any other theory?
Oh, I see, this is just another chance for all of FP to gang up on christians
Are you an idiot? I'm a Christian and he means "Why does one religion get special treatment?" And I agree with him on that matter. He's not offensively attacking us, he's bringing up a valid point.
Oh, I see, this is just another chance for all of FP to gang up on christians
Yes. Texas isn't instituting Religious Studies, they are instituting Bible Studies. The topic is Christianity being taught exclusively with no context to other religions. Why?
Are you an idiot? I'm a Christian and he means "Why does one religion get special treatment?" And I agree with him on that matter.
Oh. Well so do I. Leave church and state separate, because if you don't, it ruins it for the rest of us
Why is the theory of evolution so much more important than any other theory?
Hmmmm maybe because its true
Why is the theory of evolution so much more important than any other theory?
Ugh, I thought this was about "impact on society" and not "GOD IS REAL" bullshit.
Why is the theory of evolution so much more important than any other theory?
Because it is akin to a theory of everything in physics, except in biology.
Yes. Texas isn't instituting Religious Studies, they are instituting Bible Studies. The topic is Christianity being taught exclusively with no context to other religions. Why?
Do i have to spell it out for you? Fucking retarded christian wack jobs are finding a loophole in the constitution so that they can hopefully subliminally brainwash children to believe what they believe and thus gain a larger support of christians for political matters. also: No offense to sensible texans, but texas is mostly christian, mostly run by christians, and that means that the school board is going to be run by christians
The bible is a literary masterpiece, think of how many morals and values have developed alongside the teachings of the bible for the past hundreds of years. Teaching the bible as literature is perfectly fine. It's up to the student to believe it, or find faith in it.
Hmmmm maybe because its true
Now you see? THAT is what it's like to be a super christian! You have all this evidence which you believe to be true (Yes, the theory of evolution has real evidence, super christians just believe they have real evidence) so you are only EVER going to say that your beliefs are the right beliefs. It's not because they're evil, it's because they TRULY believe that they are right!
The bible is a literary masterpiece,
Lol. http://www.theonion.com/content/news/sci_fi_writer_attributes Replace "quantum flux" with "God" and change it from a science-fiction book to the Bible and you've still got a shitty writer inventing a nonsensical concept to explain tons of bullshit.

SUPER BIBLE THROWING POWERS ACTIVATE!
But the way they will be teaching it to impressionable small children, the chances of them finding faith in it are incredibly high.
So what? I'm raised catholic, and now, I'm not sure if I believe any of it. I find value in the bible, and almost everything related to my religion. I refuse to follow the stupid rules like: "don't eat meat on fridays" It's okay to influence children with religion, because when they get older, they honestly get to make the choice to follow it wholeheartidly or not. Teaching the bible to small children has no negative impact. And no, I'm not trolling at all. I really dislike how people shit on religion so openly, where it has had such a gigantic impact on western society. Look at all our laws, they're almost all derived from something you can find in the bible. Think about how much literature and media has been derived from the bible as well! The Matrix (although it also has buddism), even lord of the rings for fuck's sake. Who cares if the children believe the stories of the bible. They happened thousands of years ago, nobody really knows.
No, it's not.
if i become a super christian, do i get super christian powers? Super annoyance go! Super rallying go! Super bible throwing powers activate!
super anti-homosexual sign that says "god hates fags.com" go!

Of COURSE teaching the bible or any religion to a small child impacts them negatively. A toddler believes anything they are told to be true especially when its being told to them by an authority figure whom they trust. I could teach my kid that there is a boogyman living in the woods behind my house and it will fucking eat him if he doesn't pray every night. It's a negative impact on the kid because you are teaching them the bullshit bible.

Not to try to sound like i'm attacking you, but you teach a child that drugs are cool, and then he tries drugs and likes it, do you REALLY think that he will stop when he hears all the negative things about it?
