"Look at all these good things the bible has done like teach us not to kill or steal, ain't you glad you're a Christian."
People still knew not to kill or steal even without the bible. Such as in Greece or another country at that time where the teaching of jesus/the prophets were outlawed or not heard. It was don't steal because the other guy will kick your ass, or don't steal because you'll fucking get thrown in jail not because of judgment after your death.
This is where you are wrong. Not to try to sound like i'm attacking you, but you teach a child that drugs are cool, and then he tries drugs and likes it, do you REALLY think that he will stop when he hears all the negative things about it?
That didn't make sense.
Oh come on are you serious? You either have to be trolling or really dilluded. Of COURSE teaching the bible or any religion to a small child impacts them negatively. A toddler believes anything they are told to be true especially when its being told to them by an authority figure whom they trust. I could teach my kid that there is a boogyman living in the woods behind my house and it will fucking eat him if he doesnt pray every night.
Making someone a christian isn't a bad thing.
Making someone a homosexual hating, anti-abortion theocracy lover is bad.
nookupeous, I WOULD download a car, and you can't stop me.

Perhaps so, but all the learning I got from teachers and priests and shit didn't scare me in the slightest. It was all positive. It's a great way to teach children to be good people. I was raised as a catholic, sure. I also played violent videogames from a young age, I've had premarital sex, I've done drugs, I've smoked, I've drank, and I still think that I'm a good person.

How does this have to do with anything?

Never once have I been told to hate homosexuality from teachers while learning religious shit in school. They don't talk too much about abortions, either.

So is making someone an atheist bad thing?

Yeah but the thing is you don't need to be brainwashed and have the bible pounded into your brain to be a good person. My parents pretty much just let me learn myself and pick and choose. No religion, but it's not like they poured athiesm into me. Just a neutral household.
I'm pretty sure I'm not evil

i'm saying that a child isn't going to change his views once he's old enough to really make his own. because he already has views, he's learned that his beliefs are the only true ones.
an atheist is raised atheist. when he's 30 years old, is he going to go to being a muslim? Hell no
A muslim is raised muslim. when he's 30 years old, is he going to go to being an atheist? occasionally, yes, but not often

Now you're being biased. Everyone is open minded besides atheists? Once an atheist always an atheist?

I'm athiest and I wasn't raised athiest.
So is making someone an atheist bad thing?
Choosing your child's future is a bad thing period.
However...
If you raise them with a religion, they will most likely stick with what they know and stay religious.
If you raise them without a religion, they will most likely stick with what they know and be not religious, an atheist.
So, question is, how do you fairly raise a child?
So is making someone an atheist bad thing?
Only if they're an asshole who won't accept people for their beliefs, yes.
If some guy believes in a higher power, it doesn't mean shit if he's a total asshole to everyone, that's just like
Ok, i'm gunna be bad my entire life then when i die i'm going to default on the "Jesus died for my sins thing" and i'll be ok!
That's not christianity.
there are lots of pages in christianity that say you should bee polite, never steal, blah blah blah.

Neutrally
IMO
Yeah, that's called Lutheranism, if my faulty memory serves me correctly.

It's one of those choices that has to be made. Your kid will encounter other kids who will talk about God.
I would raise my kid Deist.

That is complete bullshit. How old are you to make such a bold statement as that? I believed a lot of the stuff told in the bible up until I got to a certain age, and now I'm just not sure at all. You can't speak for everyone, because once you get into your later teens, your entire life is turned upside down on you, priorities change as you age, boy.
All children change their views once they get older, think about the belief that Santa Claus comes into their house and leaves them toys for Christmas. That's a harmless myth that strikes nothing but happiness into children, what's the problem with that? Once you get older, you realize: "No, santa isn't real, but look how much love my parents have thrown at me for all these years."

I'm only really stating 'coming of age' facts that I know happen personally, it seems that the people in this thread know the best way to raise children, with or without Christian values.
When you look into the mind of an 8 year old, there is no need to worry about which side of the political spectrum you're being hushed into, secretly, by evil bible thumping extremists. That's all a bunch of stereotypical bullshit that you're all perpetuating.
It's called relativity, and as a kid, none of the bad things of religion are even existent in your mind. Jesus was a pretty good guy to look up to, he was generous, loving, caring, and people loved him a lot for it. What's bad about that?
Now you're being biased. Everyone is open minded besides atheists? Once an atheist always an atheist?
That's not what i said.
What i'm saying is that it doesn't happen often in any religion, and especially not in atheism.
I've never met an atheist that went from atheism to being a christian or a muslim
Ok, i'm gunna be bad my entire life then when i die i'm going to default on the "Jesus died for my sins thing" and i'll be ok!

There are a large portion of Christians who think similarly. "If I'm right, I go to heaven. If I'm wrong, nothing happens." They merely use it as a cruch. But I'm content in knowing that if the Christian God is real and Christians are right, those types will go to hell anyways.
Yeah, that's called Lutheranism, if my faulty memory serves me correctly.
I think your memory is faulty. A quick google of Lutheranism:
Lutheranism is a major branch of Western Christianity that identifies with the teachings of the 16th century German reformer Martin Luther

But I think that they believe that they will get into heaven simply because they believe in God.
