"No, santa isn't real, but look how much love my parents have thrown at me for all these years."
Let me say it again: Christians believe we have evidence to support the existence of a higher power. so does every religion. Santa clause has no evidence that he's real. Not even something that could be made to look like evidence. Plus your parents eventually admit that santa doesn't exist. [sp]also, fuck you, santa exists to me :([/sp]
But I think that they believe that they will get into heaven simply because they believe in God.
Oh nevermind. I thought when you posted it you meant it was the formal name for raising your children neutral.
Oh nevermind. I thought when you posted it you meant it was the formal name for raising your children neutral.
How dare you accuse me of something like that? TO THE ETERNAL FIRE WITH YOU, BOY.
I cannot keep up with this thread's nonsense
I know its hard. Refresh the page, 6 new posts everytime.
I have a feeling hes 15 or below.
I have a feeling that you and every other atheist I've EVER met have done nothing but attack me for my views when i have NEVER tried to convert you, or preach to you. I have shown you all nothing but respect and you have given none of it back. I don't criticize you for being an atheist, why don't you do the same.
However, I don't understand why it is being taught in public schools as a mandate, because when I was public school, discussing religion at all would net you a day's suspension.
...suppression of free speech, much?
It's an elective. You don't have to take it. Chill the fuck out. All of you.
...suppression of free speech, much?
They were afraid that the Christians and the Muslims and the Jews and the Atheists would get together in a giant fight one day.

I don't like Christians. Atleast once the topic of religion is brought up and they start spouting BS.
They were afraid that the Christians and the Muslims and the Jews and the Atheists would get together in a giant fight one day.
I've never even heard of that happening in this country. What state was this in?
It's an elective. You don't have to take it. Chill the fuck out. All of you.
Oh, it's an elective? Well, that makes a shitload more sense. I guess I will be heading out then. Or not. But yeah, that's how I would want it. [editline]02:19PM[/editline]
I've never even heard of that happening in this country. What state was this in?
Pennsylvania. But then again, that was years ago. They probably changed because they realized that it was retarded.
There are a large portion of Christians who think similarly. "If I'm right, I go to heaven. If I'm wrong, nothing happens." They merely use it as a cruch. But I'm content in knowing that if the Christian God is real and Christians are right, those types will go to hell anyways.
exactly. And even if you don't believe in god, that doesn't mean you will go to hell. If you are truly a good person, i don't think god will turn you down for having your own opinion.
Let me say it again:
There is no need to mention t hat you're repeating yourself. This thread updates itself every three seconds. Don't be so conceited, I don't care if you mentioned it earlier.
Christians believe we have evidence to support the existence of a higher power. so does every religion. Santa clause has no evidence that he's real. Not even something that could be made to look like evidence.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint_Nicholas You don't specifically need evidence to believe in something, or to look between the lines and see the value in it. Yes, eventually your parents tell you that Santa Claus isn't real, or something to that effect. But in all honesty, does this differ from me coming of age and understanding that the story of John the Baptist may not be all that real either, and just a story that tells you something important in the end? You' pretend you're so high and mighty, but you don't even look into it. Instead of trodding on a religion, understand it for what it is. It's like Kurtz: "To kill without judgement." God, you'd think that somebody that called them self an 'atheist' would be a little bit more open minded than you, it's a shame you don't look above labels. Atheism is perfectly fine as long as you're not basing your 'absence of religion' on attacking other religions. I think that it is perfectly fine that Texan children will be taught the stories of the bible, because I don't really see it mattering if they believe in it or not. Eventually they will make the decision for themself if they are what they are. Outside of school, if the student doesn't have terribly strict, religious parents, then it won't matter in the long run. Open your eyes, it isn't brainwashing at all.

Likewise, you don't see it from their point of view. Because we can't do that, we will disagree with each other because the sides just can't click with each other. Don't go about calling people dumb when they think that you are the same way. The truth is, no one is dumb. When we argue, everyone is dumb.
When we argue, everyone is dumb.
Pssh. I'm not.
I see this to be a positive thing as long as it is educational.

I have no idea what I think is real, and I don't think I'll ever find it out. It's something that is above me, and hopefully time will help me make the choice to what I believe is out there, or the choice to be okay with not knowing, I don't know. I'm just putting specific people in their place about this whole thing, when they make huge bold statements that seem to shape their argument for them.
Pssh. I'm not.
Except for you.
ITT: Christians blindly defend the fact that they believe they are the only religion and atheists blindly defend the fact that they believe all religion is wrong :v:
ITT: Christians blindly defend the fact that they believe they are the only religion and atheists blindly defend the fact that they believe all religion is wrong :v:
ITT people act superior on the internet
ITT: Christians blindly defend the fact that they believe they are the only religion and atheists blindly defend the fact that they believe all religion is wrong :v:
They should both be more open minded, but we all know Christians refuse to do that. Atheists have no excuse to be more open minded, they should be the most open minded.
ITT people act superior on the internet
I'm not acting.
If you can teach that stupid evolution shit, schools should teach something from every religion.
This is just wrong. Religion is not important enough to consider itself a vital part of education, although Religion Appreciation is vital to escape social pitfalls and racial awkwardness.
ITT: Christians blindly defend the fact that they believe they are the only religion and atheists blindly defend the fact that they believe all religion is wrong :v:
ITT: Christians demonstrate how ignorant they are as usual.
