Normally I'd make a joke about how the PC wouldn't have this kind of problem, but I've been up for 2 days, and can't think of anything. So I'll pretend to care.
This story just doesn't add up. First how could he not notice it was around his neck and second the controller would have come out of the xbox surely (it has one of those trip-safe connector things that pops out easily so as not to damage the xbox)
He lost in MW2
Reminded me of this, :ohdear:
Wait what?
Hanging generally requires one of two things:
1): You have to be of sufficient weight to snap your neck. (The weight to bone strength ratio of kids almost universally makes this impossible)
or
2): Your hands have to be bound. Otherwise you grasp onto something, raise yourself up, and avoid choking. OR you grab the rope itself and allow windpipe access.
What the hell did that kid do in order to kill himself?!
Maybe he hit his head on something during the fall and it knocked him out.

The cord is long, it was most likely tangled around something between his neck and the console.

Holy shit, This actually almost happened to me. I was on the top of my bunkbed And I my mum called for my dinner. I jumped down as I relised my controller was wrapped round me, I dangled for a bit then fell down, which made the 360 fall down as well.
I actually stood up and kicked the 360. I stayed with the pc from that day.
what most catches my eye is the fact that an eleven year old had a facebook and on that facebook there were comments from (presumably) other 11 year olds that wrote things like "Such a tragic loss at such a young age," and "You may have been taken from this bad world Callum but the memories of you will always live on in everyone that knew you."
what kind of fucking eleven year old could say something like that about death
they laugh hysterically at fart jokes at that age like they're the funniest fucking thing since richard pryor

you obviously havent been 11 years old
Actually on the older models the power cable is latched into the xbox and its really difficult to pull out.
The power cable, sure. I've been tangled in enough controller cords, though (fucking feet + controller cables) that I can't imagine how someone could not manage to yank it free of the console itself, or knock over / drag around the whole console. Maybe if the power cord was REALLY short or his room was the size of a concert hall, the controller cable was somehow super-attached into the console itself, and tangled to a point where there wasn't enough free cable for him to reach the floor, I guess I can see it happening, but the whole thing seems really odd to me.
It's already pretty improbable that he would have been strangled by a controller cord; how could he have gotten tangled up in a power cord?

If the controller failed to pop out, the next cables that would bear the weight are the A/V and power cords.
I'm not one to be a tightass or anything, but, a kid just died. Feels kinda mean to make puns about it.

They could theoretically hold (In the same circumstances as the controller, though), but what I mean is what situation could he have gotten in that would have ended up with him tangled in the power cords? I mean, they're at the back of the console, leading to the screen etc.
I'm not one to be a tightass or anything, but, a kid just died. Feels kinda mean to make puns about it.
You tightass.
I think if anything happened the controller wire got tangled on the bed and wrapped around his neck as he jumped down, which means the bed would have borne the weight.
this is annoying in so many ways
Nothing wrong with having tribute pages for friends and family, but advertising it to the world is begging to get trolled.
That's what happens when you decide to play with wired controllers
You guys make it sound like 9-11 was nothing, yet you mourn over this child who wasn't careful enough.
Accidents happen.

Oh, please, shut your cockhole, you seepageguzzling jackass...

sniped :smugdog:
None of us knew him, and yeah, it's just one of billions, but I still can't understand why this is so funny. Death isn't a funny thing. Especially the death of a 11-year-old.
As i've said before, some people just frankly don't give two shits that someone got killed.
Boo fucking hoo, thousands of kids die every day, kids die in the arms of their mother just after they are born, there are still births every day.
What the fuck makes some asshat 11 year old who herped and derped so hard he accidentally hung himself so special?
What the fuck makes some asshat 11 year old who herped and derped so hard he accidentally hung himself so special?
Nothing. I think it's just wrong to laugh at someone who died by accident.
And my controlley just flys out for no goddamn reason...
I laughed a lot when I read this and I'm proud of it.
this isn't /b/
we're supposed to be better than this
we don't laugh at 11 year olds accidentally killing themselves
This is Facepunch, we've laughed at a 3 year old killing herself
I lol'd. It'd suck for the team he was on, to them, he was afk.
Unless he was on singleplayer.

Then the NPC will wonder why he hasn't moved in a while and carry out the goal without him.
"instead of banning violent video games, we should ban consoles themselves!111!!!!"
One time when I was like, 10 or so I was at Oceans of Fun, a local water park here, they had this giant dolphin floaty thing, all the kids wanted to get on it for whatever reason. The thing just sat there floating, anchored by a thick white rope, me and several other kids scampered aboard the dolphin all kids playing etc. Suddenly some teens thought "Hey lets mess with the little kids" and started flipping it around and pushing people off. I was the last one to go off and the rope anchoring the dolphin managed to wrap around my foot. Dolphin soon returned to it's normal position, dragging me under, I kept struggling for air barely surfacing my head for a few seconds. The pool guard was watching me the entire time not doing a damn thing almost interested in what was happening. I soon felt weak, lightheaded and my vision became sharp, I could see the rope, see everything clearly and it started to get foggy. I was dieing, with the last of my strength I pushed to the rope and fought with it, barely pulling myself free in time before blacking out, my mom had noticed and rushed over and got me onto the dry land where I was brought around shortly after.
The pool guard said "I froze up at what was going on" and got fired. I turned a almost fatal situation around when I was a year younger then this "role model" so I suspect something foul to have caused this. No way in hell do I buy this story at all
