This is somewhat relevant to this thread, it talks about private things and how they can improve if someone owns the item.

Though it is not necessarily my opinion on health care I do think Daniel Hannan makes valid points.
"I don't know for sure," said Grassley.
So he basically admits to not knowing what he is talking about but carries on anyway
Fuck Republicans
GG @ reading
"As the bill heads to the House, it increases lawmakers' base pay from $16,800 a year to 30 percent of the annual salary of members of Congress, currently $169,000. That would mean the base pay of Louisiana lawmakers would be about $50,700."
Senators didn't give themselves a payraise, they passed the raise in their part of the house and moved it to the floor for debate.
Then again, you don't know how our government works so I wouldn't expect you to understand any of this.
Also:
"It has been 25 years since the pay was raised"
The reason it was raised is because the base pay of 16,000 a year is extraordinarily low by today's standards.
Shit I make more than that in the Private Sector.
"With no votes to spare, the Senate approved, 20-16, Senate Bill 672 by Sen. Ann Duplessis, D-New Orleans, sending it to the House for debate. House members cheered passage of the bill while watching the Senate proceedings on their desktop television monitors."
The idea that our GOVERNMENT can just go up and say, "Ya, we are doing a good job, we should get payed more" is fucking retarded. It doesn't matter if the house votes yes or no, its that the SENATE fucking voted YES.
Also, you are a fucking moron. It shouldn't be up to them to decide if they want to be paid MORE money.
Besides, the point still stands that senators get their own fucking FREE health care.
I wouldn't trust the government with a dog's health, let alone my own.
Thats fine, but some people would. It isn't fair that some people in this country (Senators) get free health care when they themselves are supposed to represent the people. Then they turn around and say "No, you can't have any". Now that's Orwellion, Animal Farm and Apples at its finest.
Because of the south.
This really only enforces my opinion that we should, instead of building a wall to keep out Mexicans, take giant chainsaws and extract the bible belt from the US. We could give them to Hungary or something.
Goddammit why is it always only the South's fault? I agree it is pretty bad down here but 40% of the U.S. identify as conservative, 30% as moderate, and 20% liberal according to Gallup poll. Removing the Bible Belt will not get rid of most of the conservatives, just the Baptists. You would still have the midwest which is full of Evangelical fundies. Look at the election results by county and tell me it's only because of the South?

Don't get me wrong I'm not a conservative but I'm tired of the stereotyping of everyone in the South as being a bible thumping conservative redneck.

Then they can have attention from the giant chainsaws as well.
And the Baptists are pretty bad anyway.
Also, you are a fucking moron. It shouldn't be up to them to decide if they want to be paid MORE money.
It isn't up to them. They vote on each other's paychecks, not their own.
I met this guy called Harold Groin, while playing EVE online.
He told people in the chat channel that he has a disease called Valley Fever.
He lost his job because of it or some reason, but now his not able to work so he just lives inside from some kind of disability pension he gets.
He used to take medicine but now that he has no job he has not enough money to buy it.
He has had the disease for 10 years already and its getting worse all the time.
Also he talked that he wants to live in UK so he would have gotten his disease treated a long time ago.
But great job for not understanding the way Congress operates!
[editline]05:44PM[/editline]
Oh and that source of yours is clearly a thinly shrouded opinion article written by someone with no formal education on the subject matter.

no man
the NHS is for evil commies
thought we'd established that
Considering both my parents have had their lives saved by the NHS, I find the "evil and Orwellian" commentary to be utter bullshit.
Also, there is a reason we re-elect the entirety of the House of Representatives every two years. It's so that if the citizenry is dissatisfied with ANY aspect of Congress, it can be out-with-the-old, in-with-the-new practically overnight. And there are PLENTY of Congressional candidates who run on a platform identical to what you champion.
If you want that to change, vote for someone based on that and not on their party.

I must pull out the anecdote card on yo ass.
Just because your parents had a relatively good experience doesn't mean it's a good system.
It just proves even more that Conservatives don't give zero shit about the poor.
But if you want to keep up with the blind, ignorant populist rage be my guest. I am no supporter of large government by any means of the word, but I actually make a focused effort to understand before I criticize.
If you would rather be as ignorant as those you condemn, don't expect anyone of an intellectual stature to take you seriously.

Yes because when you disagree but are just as ignorant as the people you condemn just throw out an ad hominem and be done with it.

That's because

I'm putting less effort
I really think it's difficult for anyone from the UK to see how anyone in the US could live with privatized health care, and perhaps even more so vice versa.
Honestly, both systems have their advantages and disadvantages. It's probably the fact that I live in the UK that makes me terrified of not being able to pay for healthcare (or being financially crippled by an accident or illness). I know I'd be terrified if healthcare in the UK suddenly became privatized, so I can see why so many Americans are reacting to this.

The NHS is far from perfect.
But having to wait to be treated is better than being unable to pay and not treated at all.
