I'm 6'5" and 150lb and have been since high school (2002).
Ain't nothing I can do about that shit.
That's the wrong mentality. I have a friend who is 193cm (~6'5'') and was <70kg (~150lb) and one time he lifted the TV remote in a funny way and dislocated his shoulder because he had so little muscles. He decided enough is enough and started training and eating right (and more) and now he weights 85kg(~186lb) and has tons of muscles. It's all a question of how much time and effort you're willing to expend to do something about your situation.

He must have done more than lift the remote in a funny way if he dislocated his shoulder.
I mean, I've dislocated my knee by taking a step, but that's hardly as weird as lifting the TV remote.

Dunno, that's what he told me. It's not that important anyway, the important part is the rest of my post which I could see with my very own eyes.

What is this snipe supposed to mean, let alone accomplish?
What is this snipe supposed to mean, let alone accomplish?
If you go back through this thread and look at the ratings, users here only care about making epic zingers. Actual post trying to make actual points? 1 agree, 2 dumbs, and a funny. A "look who's talking" or "haha lol look at me I am X person/group" post? 100 zings, 654675 funny ratings.

Fat people aren't bullied enough in real life so people on Facepunch have to create fat people in their head to laugh at.

For starters that's because this thread is a goldmine of shit. So far, 3 SH regulars have gotten banned in it.
If you can attack somebodies opposing point using humor opposed to logic, it's easier to get people to agree with you. This is why we have talk show hosts being incredibly popular, because comedy plus news is a winning combination. It's really easy to attack somebodies point with a strawman and attempt to claim moral victory by disagreeing with something they never said in the first place, and if you can "parody" their views then you're basically going to win the argument.
Fat people and feminists are the two most acceptable targets for computer nerds to belittle.
This whole thread is super childish

What are you talking about, obviously amazing posts such as this
Aren't fat people and feminists one in the same?
Have finally and decisively ended the modern feminist movement with irrefutable logic that is easily appreciated by the intelligent users of Facepunch

breaking news: people make zingers in every sensationalist headlines thread ever
Why the fuck is anybody here taking this seriously? It was a joke made by 4chan, you pass over things like "Hitler did nothing wrong" thing with mountain dew, yet oh god if those dang 4channers are trying to make a joke advertisement about beauty then everything is wrong with the world.
Like really, how do any of you find any bit of seriousness in this?

The issue is with how the media have taken it. And how it's been understood by people who don't know it's a 4Chan thing.
"Hitler did nothing wrong" is so absurd, so stupid, that even if the media latched on to it people wouldn't give a shit because of what it is.
We're not blind to it, of course men are also objectified to a certain level but this is done to women to a FAR HIGHER degree to the point that it's barely comparable
do a image search for "magazine cover" and count how many times you see a woman showing skin in a sexually suggestive way
then do the same for men
the result will surely surprise you!
men are just objectified in a different manner but it's a similar degree of intensity, though probably lesser.
or do mens magazines featuring men wearing thousand dollar suits, watches, haircuts, and etc not count as "Objectification"?

naw, male clothing is really conservative and a lot more about the clothes themselves, whereas female clothing is more about being tight fitting and showing off the body more. it's much more easy for women to be objectified because of this.
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
very much lesser.

So men's values as providers and as people aren't being physically objectified in the visual display of wealth in their clothing? No? Really?
Men are objectified by their monetary value as much as women are by their beauty. The point is in the end that both are objectified. To be made objects. Less than people.

men with big muscles, lots of cash, and tons of chicks is more of a power fantasy. they're not being dressed up in those magazines as a thing to "get," they're a status to achieve.
when you see women in swimsuits in ads/magazines (that are targeted towards men) they're objectified. "buy the colonge and get this girl." they're a thing to achieve, an object. hence "objectification."
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
short version: men are rarely objectified in advertisements. they can be, but i can't think of a clear example off the top of my head.

so women aren't being told "This is the kind of man you want" the way I'm being told "This is the kind of woman you want"? Why? How do you figure

this isn't a pissing contest of who's objectified more. the underlying issue is the male-dominated industry setting the standards of what's attractive using media depictions.

So I can't reply to the comments saying that it's a non existant issue because you don't want those comments brought up because it seems like a pissing contest to you? I'm not bringing it up for that reason no matter what you think
i agree with you but apparently bringing up it happens to men is wrong? The fuck.

because we're not talking about men right now
it's impossible to have arguments like this because somebody always comes in and says "but we're oppressed too!!!!!!"

I was literally replying to a post that said it's non existant for men, like you said previously in this thread as well
No one is denying it happens to women, but you are and were out right denying it happens to men
I think it happening PERIOD is a fucking problem but why can't that be the discussion?
[editline]8th January 2014[/editline]
i mean you literally brought it up so obviously, the conversation is in some way about men

no i didn't? i said that men's issues in the media and advertisments are small >>>COMPARED<<<< to women. that's because men haven't been treated like livestock for thousands of years.
welcome to the real world, where society makes women feel like shit if they aren't a size 0 and caked in makeup. you, as a dude, have basically no pressure to be a certain size compared to women.
you forgot this post awfully quick then pal
I'm nowhere near being a feminist or a FRA but holy shit are people in this thread being immature.
you forgot this post awfully quick then pal
