Arabic foreign language class at Daphne High teaches 'a culture of hate,' some parents say

I'd love to learn another language, especially Arabic. Just seems too time consuming for me to try it though, the only one that would have any real pay off in the US would be Spanish, more or less.
I wonder if they learnt French at school? After all, that's the language of socialism :v:
We don't speak English in America. English is a language for the english; commies and traitors
We only speak Murrican' round here

I know that when I learned Spanish
don't you mean when you took a job-stealing lesson
As a student of Arabic for 5 years now, I can attest that this is total bullshit
Things I have learned from Arabic:
1. How to speak the language
2. Some aspects of the culture/Islamic religion
3. The wonders of Middle Eastern food
Things I have not learned from Arabic:
1. Bomb-building
2. America-hating
3. How to silence Christians
This is lies
You are actually a brainwashed terrorist spy who will explode when you hear a certain word

I'm not a terrorist!!!!
Arabs aren't hateful. They use to be some of the most advanced people in the world. But then a few radicals took over and dumb white trash Americans who subscribe to Fox News can't tolerate or reason.
Isn't Arabic the language of Christianity since that's where it originated from?
Isn't Arabic the language of Christianity since that's where it originated from?
Pretty sure that'd be Hebrew or greek, actually. If I recall correctly, those were primary languages of the region at the time.

Yep. Old was hebrew, new was greek.
Wish they'd have taught an eastern language while I was growing up in BC, there are so many Indian, Pakistani, and Middle Eastern immigrants there, a lot of them first generation, and it sucks not being to properly converse with so many people

When I hear my friends speak their Egyptian dialect, it sounds amazing.
Egyptian accent is the best kind of accent

some of the old arabic dubbed Disney movies/cartoons got Egyptian people to voice it and it sound so awesome....sucks that they start using very bland voice actors that dont have any accent in their new dubs
We're 12 years down the line from 9/11 and so many people still think our schools should have a mandatory 2 Minutes Hate for Islam every morning. Unreal.
Isn't Arabic the language of Christianity since that's where it originated from?
aramaic is used in large parts of the bible and the talmud
lebanon is 40% christian and they speak arabic though

"Feel free to silence any voice, so long as it isn't Christianity!"
The fact also happens to be that the muslim culture IS NOT a hateful culture. Its a very extremist, loud few that skew the words of the Qur'an to fit what they want it to fit. It's just that, that's all the American people know about, because they're not/refuse to be educated about it, instead choosing to blindly hate an entire culture over the bad apples. They also are not intelligent to understand a number of things, including but limited to our nation's lack of a national language, lack of a central religion, and irony of hating on a "hateful culture". They don't recognize that they are the hateful, small(i say small because percentage wise, hate towards middle eastern culture is declining overall) part of the Christian group.
I bet these morons don't even know that Arabic isn't the official language of countries such as Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iran, and Iraq (it's the second National language).

I bet these morons doesn't know they live in the land of the free.
America doesn't have a official language you idiot. So schools can teach as they please

The Palestinian region wasn't originally Arabic, at all.

You are clearly falling behind in this course. See me after class.
You're saying that one of the most widely used languages is useless? If you know english already, spanish is pretty easy to learn compared to other languages and is pretty widely spoken in America. If you know decent spanish, it sets you out from the rest of the applicants for a job.
I was kinda more focused on if we want our students to be able to communicate internationally, while Spanish is great for here in America for various reasons, its not very spoken outside of a few countries in the developed world
[editline]4th October 2013[/editline]
also Spanish is dull as fuck and I don't really like the culture
lamp: lampio!
