Linux and Windows provide enough competition.
free software with no enterprise-level support that comes bundled with 0% of pre-built computers is not competition to windows.

Think that whole "better for media" thing stopped being true about 15 years ago.
Why are we cheering on patent bullshit just because it's against Apple This is awful and a perfect example of the flawed nature of the patent system
I guess it's like when someone who gets bullied finally stands up to a bully and smacks him one in the face. Violence isn't good, but seeing someone getting a taste of what they've been dishing out is always satisfying.
free software with no enterprise-level support that comes bundled with 0% of pre-built computers is not competition to windows.
Because everything you could possibly need is on Windows. Now if you want to be "unique" you can go spend an extra 700-1000 dollars for the same hardware and get mostly the same experience. Linux is aimed towards the enthusiast user, which mostly still use Windows given the lack of software selection on Linux distros but it still means Microsoft has to be at the top of their game.

[editline]5th June 2013[/editline] Obviously a week or 2 later there was a better Android, but its not that backwards.
who the fuck cares why does it matter if people would rather a mac why do you care how people spend their money
Alright then accept that they're as I had described. They need a way to delude themselves into believing they're paying more for a reason. Also, thank god for these types of people because they're the reason I live the way I do.

Got a toaster with a processor, some memory and some storage? Android will run on it.
I don't have a phone, I don't want to show them anything. It's annoying sitting down in the morning and seeing about 1,000 different girls doing nothing but looking down at this shiny plastic piece of shit texting or something not talking to friends or anything. Though this isn't necessarily karma or anything and it's really just showing how much the system can fuck up, not really a winner for anyone.
1) Why are you being specific on girls, plenty of guys have iPhones too. 2) It's not strictly iPhones, it's cellphones in general. 3) One moment you say they're just texting people and immediately after you're saying they're not talking to people. I'll certainly be enjoying my Nexus 4, the one with the bigger higher resolution display, quad-core processor, guaranteed updates (which will make your phone even more obsolete in terms of software features) and a great build quality. Also, because of my purchase, I have $350 in my pocket that you don't have.

I can't tell you how many times I've heard this. Accept that people who are ignorant to the subject of personal computing don't know what's best for them. Accept that people buy into the hype that "Macs are better for creative people" and "Macs don't get viruses" and will spend obscene amounts of money to be "different". I have yet to meet a person with a legitimate reason for owning a Macintosh computer other than XCode. because Apple treats their developers like bullshit and force them to write software ON THEIR SOFTWARE.
My brother bought a Mac because he liked the interface more. He was never a big Windows fan. Is he an idiot too?
He spent over a thousand dollars because he didn't like the UI? I would certainly argue that point.
Accept that people who are ignorant to the subject of personal computing don't know what's best for them.
yes all those people who are happy with their macs need to be told by Daniel M, computer expert on Facepunch Studios, that they are in fact enjoying their product wrong and should instead follow his expert advice since he knows what's really best for them
He spent over a thousand dollars because he didn't like the UI? I would certainly argue that point.
One could argue that all you need is a Fiat Punto yet people are buying a lot more expensive cars. You need to rectify that, Daniel M.
One could argue that all you need is a Fiat Punto yet people are buying a lot more expensive cars. You need to rectify that, Daniel M.
Expensive Cars generally perform better and bought as part of collections.
I bet you're able to buy the finest fedoras with that cash
I prefer bowler hats.
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but, what does this actually mean then? Does it mean that people can't buy iPhone and iPad 2 from Apple online and have it delivered in the US? Does it mean that they will no longer sell iPhone or iPad 2 in American Apple stores? Additionally, is this in effect immediately or does it happen later?
They'll still be selling what they have left in stock but I think this means they can no longer import the products mentioned in the original article. But Apple plans to appeal this so who knows what will happen.
Expensive Cars generally perform better and bought as part of collections.
Well, there we have it. It doesn't come down to preference, it comes down to performance. People shouldn't buy what they like, buy what's 'BEST'
