ZombieWalk organizers did not have a permit.
They probably should have fucking got one then.
Love how the music abruptly stops for some reason.
Wait a sec, I'm confused here. Title says it's in San Francisco but the article says San Diego.
OP didn't read fully. Also, the zombie walkers were doing their parade thing while the onlookers decided to make a wall in the middle of the street around them. And as for the guy pounding at the car, I'm pretty sure that was in self defense since the driver started to drive through people. [editline]28th July 2014[/editline] And from that angle, it doesn't look like other people banged the windows, more or less tapped it trying to get the driver's attention.
They didn't have a permit for this, which means they are not in the right, and that does not give them the fucking right to attack his vehicle, even if they were being 'in character'. He's fucking deaf, what the hell do you expect him to do?

Based on basic traffic laws he was in the wrong due to pedestrians have right of way and a drive must take all actions possible to prevent endangering a pedestrian. If you account for the people who were merely crossing the street on both sides, he never had right of way to cross, it is simple as that. Forcing his way through is also illegal.
Parading without a permit is also illegal, and obstructing the normal flow of traffic is also illegal. So no, he wasn't in the wrong there. Someone honking their horn is clearly the sign for "get the fuck out of the way", and if you still don't get the message after he rolled up, then you're an quite frankly, an idiot. As well, if they were crossing at a place that was not a crosswalk (i can't really tell by the video, so i dunno on that one) there's something else illegal that the pedestrians were possibly doing. And they smashed a hole in his fucking windshield. It's not their fault for not knowing he is deaf, but for Christ's sake. You don't smash a hole in someone's windshield and not expect them to floor it. Pedestrians can get the right of way, but they don't have a right to the road.

For vehicle code and common sense, you cannot use a car to move people out of the way. Never ever can you use a deadly weapon to make a path across a crowd of people. When you are in a busy congested area, you must wait. I do not want to condone people’s impatience in justifying a car to go through a crowd of people."
Btw, that quote is a police officer, all this has been posted in the thread and you don't realize that the windshield damage is due to him ramming through them and a guy being on top of his car.

You really think it's okay to drive into people because they're in your way?
My god. You really think it's okay to drive into people because they're in your way?
No I believe in laws that are there to protect you from shit like this from happening. If you can't get a fucking permit for your little parade, and jaywalk with said parade, don't be surprised when shit happens and don't try playing the victim card because of that. Especially since these people were not part of the 'official' Zombie Walk group, whom were blocks ahead with police escort and did not require a permit because, guess what, they were a small enough group (only taking up roughly a block).
you don't realize that the windshield damage is due to him ramming through them and a guy being on top of his car.
Gee, I wonder why it got smashed then. Would it have anything to do with people jumping on his car? Trying to open his door? The sources I've read have also said he waited 10-20 minutes, more than enough time to let him pass, you don't get to block traffic like that as a pedestrian. Yeah, he probably shouldn't have floored it and it sucks someone one got hurt, but what the fuck do you really expect? It's not like he just ran through them without waiting, the people walking there were dumbasses. Honestly, the pedestrians are more at fault here.

Only one of the sources state that it was broken after he floored, the rest are unclear. But they are clear about the fact that there was one man on his hood pounding on his windshield. The sources I've read have also said he waited 10-20 minutes, more than enough time to let him pass, you don't get to block traffic like that as a pedestrian.
Deafness doesn't affect your driving does it?
you're kidding right?
whilst i agree that the pedestrians bare some responsibility it is never alright to purposefully run over people, and watching the video it can be seen that nobody actually smashes the window rather the window is smashed when he runs into the idiot sat on the hood of his car
I edited what I said to make it more clear that it was, but it was only smashed because there was someone on his hood. And when someone opened his car door (even attempts to), he has the right to get the fuck out of that situation as full as possible. Which he did.
you're kidding right?
To be honest horns are there for a reason. Driving is more dangerous if you can't hear them.
