I'm not the one who brought it up.

an Open letter from a former Tea Party member to the Occupy movement.
Not a single one of these deaths were "commissioned" or purposely done by the actual church of Scientology.
Most religions have had people do bad things in their name or stupid things.
Where are the 4chan losers for Mosques, churches and the like?
And again, what were they even protesting? That some people from the church are morons who got someone killed because they're too stupid to take necessary channels?
[editline]5th October 2011[/editline]
And don't pretend people from "anonymous" are somehow on the moral high ground in this. These people have their heads so far up their ass, they treat their little internet community like a cult.
I can't tell if you're trolling or genuinely stupid.

Don't bother arguing a point.

That's perfectly okay.

They're the 1% and they can't even afford legible signs? Man, maybe times ARE tough for the rich. :downs:
I mean seriously someone give these poor people a Sharpie Magnum or something!

They're just shoving legitimacy onto the protests.
Don't bother arguing a point.

Don't bother taking a shit on a thread and de-railing it like you did earlier.
Makes the world go round when you avoid that.

I thought the 1% were more like the super rich. The bill gates, warren buffet types. Isn't the number more like 5% and 95%? I mean there are "millionaires" in that 99% percent. Quite a few people have over a million dollars. It seems like it would be more than 1%

The "1%" probably originates from data on the current distribution of wealth, which paints a stark picture indeed:

The bottom four-fifths of the U.S. Population have a sliver of the wealth compared to the remaining fifth. and a fraction of that holds nearly half the total wealth in America. It's also worth noting that these are old numbers, and the gap is very likely to have increased in the years after the economic meltdown in '08.
Suffice it to say, I sympathize with the protesters, because wealth inequality is literally the root of most of the problems in America at the present time, in one way or another.

The top 1 and 2% are the prime targets because they make approximately 5.46 metric ass-tonnes of money. The top 1% pays roughly 40% of all federal income tax, that's how much fucking money they make, but this is only due to the now-massive income inequality that's present and why it's not a good argument for not raising taxes on the rich even a teensy weensy bit.

It was a nice read, but then you realize people like this support Ron Paul, and it makes it all pointless

I didn't bring it up, and you're not really helping either.
They are discussing the movement on ABC World News at the moment.
They are discussing the movement on ABC World News at the moment.
Giving it the respect it needs? Or giving it the fox news treatment?
I don't understand why you have to point this out all the time. It's not necessary.
I think it's called flamebaiting, he wants someone to victimize him so he can whine about it
It was a nice read, but then you realize people like this support Ron Paul, and it makes it all pointless
Didn't the whole "internet loves Ron Paul" thing start out as a bit of 4chan irony, then idiots started taking it seriously or something
This speech is amazing, spread it around as much as you can:

Efrim Menuck dedicated his set at Brighton Music Hall to the 99% :)

No speech that talks about the gold standard can be called "amazing"

"Ron Paul's Mission to End the Fed 2011 Click to Watch"
"Elect Ron Paul!"
I'm as opposed to the policies of the Federal Reserve and the banks as any Libertarian, but going back to the Gold Standard is impossible. Ron Paul would ruin this country.
[editline]5th October 2011[/editline]
Additionally, why does it seem the only things anyone not already "Objectivist Lite" focus on when they speak positively about Ron Paul are his stances on drugs, war, and the Federal Reserve? Does his economy policy beyond the Federal Reserve not matter? The man who wants to abolish the income tax and all federal welfare, that's the guy you want in? Does his stance on gay marriage or abortion not matter? Leaving these civil rights up to the states is no better than when the South was able to keep slavery legal, and even in the North when certain states still had de facto slaves. It's a disgrace.
Everyone should go download the corporation it's free on it's website and it gives a good history of the economic situation in america today, and how we got here.
Production in China has only this year surpassed that of the United States, and we export a lot more than guns, missiles and tanks. Our country has the largest economy in the world, and our GDP makes up 1/4 of the world GDP.
Being able to take US dollars to a bank and redeem them for gold is a terrible idea, as we saw back at the turn of the 19th century. People would just trade any cash they received for gold and horde it, thus depleting the National Reserve, which forms the immediate risk of not being able to hold that precious 'gold standard' the speaker totes.
That's just from watching the first 2 minutes and is by no means an in-depth analysis of the video, but when he's spouting such BS that soon in the video, why keep watching it? He obviously has no idea what he's talking about.
(I can sympathize with the need to reform or end the Fed, but he's just touretting it up and shouting that because it's a view that Ron Paul holds)
I haven't seen this posted yet, more footage of police brutality at occupy wall street
Rush Limbaugh calls Occupy Wall Street a 'parade of human debris':
[release]Limbaugh said, “When I was 10 years old I was more self-sufficient than this parade of human debris calling itself Occupy Wall Street. No, I was in the Scouts yeah, Boy Scouts for a while, no Cub Scout for a while, I even got some badges. I was a Boy Scout for a year I was a Tenderfoot for a year, I hated it, didn’t like it. Went on one camping trip got the gold brick award for worst most useful guy on the camping trip. I would probably fit in with this group…my parents made me join. I didn’t want to join, so I went to the top of this mountain I watched everybody else build the tents, and put the leaves on them. I got the gold brick. It was an honor, but I never once advertised that I was a parasite like these people are doing.
He continued, “If you look at the minutes and read their website these people are announcing that they are parasites. They are not self-sufficient, and they are totally dependent on what people are protesting, who in the world hits their own sleeping bags and has a board of directors meeting for an hour before they decide this much. I wouldn’t doubt if we’re not careful the next president of this country is going to come out of this group.”[/release]

What? He's comparing the protesters to himself... being lazy in boy scouts? The fuck is his point? That he didn't tell people he was a "parasite" ...?
