Because he thought he was fat?
No, he was actually quite short. Dictators have a habit of being short.
Anyone else just glad that there isn't a republican president right now? He/she would have probably called the military in to "Clear things up" by now.

He said nothing about height. People can be fat and short. Look at Danny Devito.
All governments fear their people. Why do you think Stalin had the great purges?
He felt he continually had to consolidate his power through fear?
Hitler was ~6 ft. :P
Kim Jong Il is pretty short though.
I hear Kim Il Sung was pretty tall
Thats kind of a fallacy though. Mass media is one of the major tools used for reporting atrocities.
Mass media, at least in America, has degraded to being nothing but entertainment and a propaganda platform, so I wouldn't count on it to do much help in peacefully revolutionizing the country.
Revolution =/= doing anything minus sitting on a couch.
Heard of advertising, demonstrations, lobbying, polls, rallies, protests, petitions, votes, strikes, etc?
All of them are non-revolutionary and do not require violent revolution. More can be achieved in 50 years of widespread mass political action than 5 years of revolution/war, followed by years of getting back to the original state then another 50 getting to the intended goal.
Do you honestly think anything will ever be fixed in this country via our democratic system?
I'm not calling for a revolution, all I'm saying is that the country was bought and paid for a long time ago, and just because you vote for the politician who lies in your interests doesn't mean you're going to see any real change.
I hear Kim Il Sung was pretty tall
He also possessed a neck tumour.

Eh. Did I say mass media? I meant social media.
Eh. Did I say mass media? I meant social media.
Still isn't going to do anything.
Social media is nice for spreading ideas, but unless people act on those ideas nothing will come of it.
Having a little demonstration won't bring forth any real change, but it might bring more people to your cause and eventually spark a real revolution.

just 'cause you're cynical doesn't mean you're right
Eh. Did I say mass media? I meant social media.
You mean corporate media?
You mean corporate media?
Not really. The internet in general is what I was talking about.
Not really. The internet in general is what I was talking about.
\
you mean the internet that corporations control?
Not really. The internet in general is what I was talking about.
Then I must've taken it out of context, but corporations do still have control over the Internet. If I recall correctly, Twitter was blocking OWS from becoming a trending topic.
Twitter is also funded by Wall street.
[editline]11th October 2011[/editline]
Besides. When something huge gets censored on the internet, anonymous does the only thing its good at and spreads it everywhere.
Internet was created by DARPA.
You do realize that all of your precious social networks admittedly work in cooperation with the federal government, and that ISP's are still able to keep activity logs and release them to the government?
You can't take a fact that you think sounds crazy and just label it as a conspiracy.
Twitter is already preventing #OccupyWallStreet from becoming a trending topic.
That wasn't a revolution at all. That was a foreign military force getting rid of another foreign military force.
More like the War of Independence.
What do you think a revolution is?
I would prefer to live in July 1914 in Russia than in July 1920. Russia was gradually improving, the Dumas were slowly gaining more control over the budget. Education was being invested into, industry was developing, the peasantry was emigrating to the towns and cities. The Tsar was a weak man who in senility would have gradually let the Duma control more of the Empires affairs.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Russian_Constitution_of_1906
Duma's were stopped in place by the Tsar.
Anyone wanna take bets on how long it will take for some mainstream rock star to be in support of it?
The police and military aren't robots, they are (as hard as it can be to believe some times) people too, people who will eventually suffer as a result of our flawed systems. If there was a violent revolution that became huge, I don't think the military could do much.
For every five people that don't shoot there's going to be at least one asshole who doesn't give a fuck, and ten assholes who have a gun can put down at least fifty people.

Police officers have automatic weapons. I'm sure it's far more then fifty.

Not a rockstar, but pretty mainstream.
I don't count Kanye. He goes with every trend.
Sobtnick, your only argument against the protests is that you don't like revolutions.
It's not a revolution. It's a protest
You do realize what a conspiracy is, right?
Labeling something as a conspiracy in no way detracts from it's credibility.
It shouldn't, but when you post a picture of a crazy person in a tinfoil hat it certainly doesn't help you look like you're taking things seriously.
By the way, excellent job making an argument. Those dumb ratings certainly proved me wrong
I definitely gave a satirical view of it all, but how can you blame me when you're tossing out 'the man is out to get you' argument. I view that as paranoia.
Also don't take the dumb ratings personal. They weren't intended to be that way.
I don't recall him saying "the man is out to get you", he just pointed out that the internet is indeed ruled by corporate influence, to which you responded with a stupid image macro of a crazy guy in a tinfoil hat shouting "ITS A CONSPIRACY"
Maybe instead of assuming that everyone that presents an argument you dont agree with is crazy, you should just understand that he is simply pointing out facts relevant to the discussion.
And don't worry, I'm not taking the ratings personally, I'm just reminding you that in a face to face argument you can't just click "dumb" and pretend you've accomplished something without refuting any points.

I am saying that I would hate it were it to develop into that. And a number of people seem to be advocating revolution.

You realize the odds of a full blown revolution occurring in the US is pretty damn low?
Oh and,

You know a revolution isn't always violent, right?
Who the hell said that it was or that it would need to progress that far to accomplish anything?
