Well that's really the point of the entire protest in the first place, I would think.
This and all the other shit they've been pulling since Reagan. [editline]30th September 2011[/editline]
this haves been going on for like 12 days now
Still not long enough. (also your avatar rules)
I hope they can hold on for long enough to put in enough pressure for change.
NYC Mayor Michael Bloomberg Claims That Protestors Are Targeting the "Finance Middle Class" [release]For 13 days, hundreds of demonstrators have encamped themselves on Wall Street in New York City, hoping to call attention to the financial sector’s greed and inequities in the American economic system. This morning, while on local radio host John Gambling’s show, New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg was asked about the demonstrations on Wall Street. Bloomberg condemned the protests, claiming that the protesters are targeting people who making “$40-50,000 a year and are struggling to make ends meet.” He then went on to say people are focusing too much on the causes of the financial crisis and that we need to be nicer to the banking industry so that it starts lending again. He concluded by saying that we are “blaming the wrong people” by “blaming the banks” for the recession: GAMBLING: Mr. Mayor, let’s talk about Zuccoti Park and the protesters. How do you end that thing? BLOOMBERG: The protesters are protesting against people who make $40-50,000 a year and are struggling to make ends meet. That’s the bottom line. Those are the people that work on Wall Street or on the finance sector. [...] People in this day and age need support for their employers. We need the banks, if the banks don’t go out and make loans we will not come out of our economy problems, we will not have jobs. And so anything we can do to responsibly help the banks do that, encourage them to do that is waht we need. I think we spend much too much time worrying about how we got into problems as to how we go forward. [...] Also we always tend to blame the wrong people. We blame the banks. They were part of it, but so were Frddie Mac and Frannie Mae and Congress. Actually, the median salary for stockbrokers is approximately $88,000 a year. But that is besides the point. The demonstrators are not targeting the individuals who work on Wall Street, they are targeting the financial institutions and practices they represent. Recall, the banks were the primary actors who set off the global recession, and that recession plunged 60 million people into extreme poverty worldwide. By protesting in favor things like a financial transactions tax, Americans can hope to get some of that wealth back from financial institutions that are anything but “struggling to make ends meet.”[/release] Source: http://thinkprogress.org/economy/2011/09/30/333038/mayor-bloomberg-wall-street-make-ends-meet/

What a shock.
Michael Bloomberg sucks.
Those poor stock brokers struggling to make ends meet. How can we be so cruel to expect them to live on a $80,000 wage.
While you're all whining about the economy going to shit. The oil price is increasing and we're living in paradise. Sometimes i'm sickened by my own countries wealth. :v: Though it surprises me how this little event gained itself a megathread. It's for a good cause. Just, the problem is that it's basically lead by..Nobody.
It's not supposed to have a central leader. That's kind of another important point. It's all sorts of people of all races, creeds, and religions united under one sole purpose. A figure-head would really have no point. The people themselves are the leaders.
I remember a few days ago when everyone (Or more specifically capitalist pig dogs) was saying "lol anon fuk off go plolice they rnt goning over teh line lol anon sux" Now that Michael Moore is on the boat, and the FBI is doing an investigation into the NYPD what are you going to say now in order to satisfy your daily bending over to the banks? [editline]30th September 2011[/editline] Also fuck off Bloomberg.
(Or more specifically capitalist pig dogs)
Don't put this in your posts.

What's the catch?
Anon is still idiotic. They did not start this movement nor are they the sole supporters. They're just jumping in pretending to be cool and edgy and threatening NYPD with terrible made videos using Microsoft Sam voices. Ah I see what you mean. Yeah Anon was never the beginning of this entire thing. They just dragged themselves into it and became a recognizable supporter.
Don't put this in your posts.
Why not? In the first few threads about the protest I kept seeing republican apologists saying it was all anon's doing and that they want the police to "kill every last one of the protesters" Also, I bet right now FOX is airing their weekly special report about the "insidious domestic terrorist group Anonymous causing a protest on AMERICA's HARD WORKING CITIZENS in the financial sector" (IMO, "Hard working" and "Financial sector" is an oxymoron.)
Catch is, you may or may not be arrested, maced, or thrown to the ground by police.
And the media tries to cover it all up as if nothing is happening, am I right? Making only some few news stations around the world actually cover the protests?
And the media tries to cover it all up as if nothing is happening, am I right? Making only some few news stations around the world actually cover the protests?
Precisely. They're having a media black out right now. Hardly any news stations are covering it, NYPD denies all allegations of police brutality, and the men and women on Wall Street aren't taking it seriously.
It is detrimental to shout things like "capitalist pig dog", you can be a sensible person about it.
He's only joking, it's not like fox news are going to use his post as an example against the protesters cause
Breaking News: Facepunch user shows just how far these terrible terrible protesters will go, using insults like "capitalist pig dogs". More at 11.

back before terrorism became all about religion, we had the baader meinhoff group. I'm not saying I'm a supporter of the red army faction, but they were a lot more intimidating to right-capitalists than anonymous
I would totally get behind Cornel West though
Or Noam chomsky
I would totally get behind Cornel West though
As would I.
(IMO, "Hard working" and "Financial sector" is an oxymoron.)
How long did you work in the Financial sector?
I would totally get behind Cornel West though
I shouldn't be childishly laughing at this but I am
The fact that this protest has no leaders is a good thing, because if someone wanted to target someone, it would most definitely be the leader of something.
How long did you work in the Financial sector?
lol Hell, any 17-year-old who has ever stocked shelves or mopped floors has done harder work than these bank CEOs yet got paid 2000x less
lol Hell, any 17-year-old who has ever stocked shelves or mopped floors has done harder work than these bank CEOs yet got paid 2000x less
Breaking news - The financial sector is solely occupied by CEOs.
