Hey, since you seem to know a fart-ton of earthquake stuff sorta, how fucked is Sidney?
Keep in mind that I'm not a professional anything, I'm some fuck in his armchair pretending I know shit.
First, everything obviously depends on where the epicenter is (depth as well). I don't know how resistant Sidney's buildings are for quakes, so ??? there. For all I know, megafucked may be the result of even a "small" Big One.
However, talking about a tsunami, that's something that might be a little easier to predict based on the broad features of the Strait of Juan de Fuca and the Haro Strait. Have a diagram of my best guesses.

Remember, I'm not an expert, do not rely on me for disaster preparedness advice.
Also, Port Angeles' fate against a tsunami depends entirely on how that spit does against whatever nature throws at it; I've never been there so I have no idea what their waterfront looks like.
Building codes updated in the 90's. The reason so many schools in the area are being renovated is because they now have to comply with new earthquake regulations, otherwise they are demolished.
Yeah, RIP White Rock Elementary, never forget

Anyway if I have to die in an earthquake may as well do it in the one region of Canada that doesn't freeze solid five months a year

It can happen!
Its a really cool place too.

Personally I want to see how the Harbour Centre behaves in the event of an earthquake.
I imagine the top part falling off and start rolling down the street in an Indiana Jones-esque way.
Last I checked we don't really build for earthquakes in most of Canada because they don't happen that often. I'm pretty sure just about anywhere in Canada would be fucked if there was a major earthquake.
my town would be ok because there are only like 5 things taller than they are wide and all the buildings are broken already
I KNEW it was a good decision not to go to vancouver film school
I'm going there right now and I'm a-okay, except for the fact that I wouldn't know what the fuck to do if a tsunami strikes.
well at least you just finished all the retarded puns for this thread
I feel as if another one is somewhere in my head just bouncing around just out of my grasp.
I'm surprised nobody has mentioned the inevitable disappearance of Lulu Island. Aka Richmond, city build on peat below sea level.
Nothing of value would be lost.
It sucks living next to a major fault line, if the New Madrid line slipped and caused another earthquake like in 1811, our town would be utterly fucked.
